We got up very early this morning to take the hubs to the airport; we won't see him again for another 3 1/2 months, but next time we see him this deployment is over so that's good : )<br /><br />I have another quick card I made on Thursday to share today:<br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjz8SR1UwXHaMCypIifWdi9c7sMcbhWWqwynKp9X_4mozh1TMLbkCCRnWqi8rYApBGg9Zo8KEQrjd5PdUyTtKIRfyz9k2ecM9KFvI0EiCdw9_RuOF1j7RhIa9YAf-L-rPHK_e64IZ51RQD9ubiq_81AbAt_rej980aIwzSQbemD42SRQjSwPzUup0xB9Iyd/s1920/Adventurous%20Duck%20FMS627%20CTD784.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1554" data-original-width="1920" height="518" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjz8SR1UwXHaMCypIifWdi9c7sMcbhWWqwynKp9X_4mozh1TMLbkCCRnWqi8rYApBGg9Zo8KEQrjd5PdUyTtKIRfyz9k2ecM9KFvI0EiCdw9_RuOF1j7RhIa9YAf-L-rPHK_e64IZ51RQD9ubiq_81AbAt_rej980aIwzSQbemD42SRQjSwPzUup0xB9Iyd/w640-h518/Adventurous%20Duck%20FMS627%20CTD784.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><br />I got Feathered Flight because ducks are my son's favorite animal. Do you ever have colors that you just don't like together? For my mom it's navy blue and black; for me, it's gray and brown. So this challenge was definitely a challenge for me. And it's a challenge when house hunting too, I know we saw several houses where everything was gray (SO GRAY, gray everywhere) but the cabinets in the kitchen were brown. Sometimes the cabinets were brown and the counters were gray and I just hate it. There was one house that all three of us loved but we're not going to get it because of the school district and also it's huge. And absolutely everything in there was gray--carpet, laminate floors, walls, even the ceilings. I told my husband I would want to have the entire interior repainted like a pale blue. I'm okay with gray, I just don't want everything to be gray. Don't want to live inside a rain cloud.<br /><br />Anyway, enough about my color ramblings. Hope you have a good weekend, y'all. Ryan goes back to school on Monday so he'd better enjoy his last couple days of spring break. I have a feeling he'll be difficult to awaken on Monday morning...<br /><br />Supplies, all SU!<br />Stamps: Feathered Flight, Textured Timber<br />Ink: Boho Blue, Smoky Slate, Pecan Pie<br />Paper: Boho Blue, Pecan Pie, Basic White<br />Accessories: Stylish Shapes dies, Classic Matte Dots<br />Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2386704740948746957.post-32355233186966482412024-03-15T09:18:00.000-04:002024-03-15T09:18:52.139-04:00To Thine Own Self<p>Happy Friday, y'all! We returned to Texas from our Colorado house-hunting trip late on Wednesday, just in advance of the major snowstorm that rolled through there. Heartspeak (the main image) is from 2008, so it's 16 years old. The greeting is from Botanical Blooms, which a quick trip through my photo archives says I've never used; I did a bit of Googling and it's from 2009. So two very retro stamp sets! I thought the <a href="http://thepaperplayers.blogspot.com/2024/03/pp680-color-challenge-from-jaydee.html">Paper Players color challenge</a> was perfect to go with spring flowers:<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8dIHtNxpCU93v_GJvuatNYS4fiEsIwmehezqzIdJGRZy8RTYCI4v6Dz5lbZ8wCrWuUT0gQSZQI8mJj5zgqPkH6o8TF3_cMtKxoGRTla3XzkNCxZPeAZqSdlGMrdiyBrYOeqG3M7WoqvMmp6BLiOjFWPfwBJc9GargKYYWyryrbFwqHN9EnpYh-nR8DVi9/s320/pp680.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="320" data-original-width="301" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8dIHtNxpCU93v_GJvuatNYS4fiEsIwmehezqzIdJGRZy8RTYCI4v6Dz5lbZ8wCrWuUT0gQSZQI8mJj5zgqPkH6o8TF3_cMtKxoGRTla3XzkNCxZPeAZqSdlGMrdiyBrYOeqG3M7WoqvMmp6BLiOjFWPfwBJc9GargKYYWyryrbFwqHN9EnpYh-nR8DVi9/s1600/pp680.png" width="301" /></a></div><br />I used Lemon Lime Twist, Bubble Bath and Flirty Flamingo, and Lemon Lolly for colors, stamping in black on a white card base. I used an Ivory blend to color in the flower basket. It was fun to break out these old stamps for today's card; Heartspeak was one of my favorite stamp sets from that year, which was when SU! was running an experiment with new catalogs every 6 months and Heartspeak was one that only lasted for one catalog. I hadn't played with it in so long and that kind sentiment caught my eye when I was flipping through my personal stamp catalog (which is now three giant binders because my stamp collection is large and in charge).<br /><br />Okay, I'm off to make pumpkin coffee cake for my two dudes. We are in Colorado right now looking at houses : ) We will be moving to the Colorado Springs area this summer, so we're looking around at different areas and kinda getting a feel for the city. We've never bought a house before so this is exciting...and also scary!<br /><br />So for today's scrapbook layout, I thought I'd share pics of the house we rented in Germany:<br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgiGtzzaJ22FbN1QdqYT-vtsgNNtzcdeeotG96Lp0d61wRShDNJiY94QZlKQIL3kLXLmnf61Ce8hRAUt6ObyGXfTVBsPbiaUc7BkpRpLXJqFofBftuQU27uouBWayPmWVcDwgYL_RAJrZIeq-pV0K-Jw6YSezzXtpyOzWpFCtYrVdOeqpDW5GvTH5SjE0Eh/s1920/unser%20Zuhause.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="997" data-original-width="1920" height="332" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgiGtzzaJ22FbN1QdqYT-vtsgNNtzcdeeotG96Lp0d61wRShDNJiY94QZlKQIL3kLXLmnf61Ce8hRAUt6ObyGXfTVBsPbiaUc7BkpRpLXJqFofBftuQU27uouBWayPmWVcDwgYL_RAJrZIeq-pV0K-Jw6YSezzXtpyOzWpFCtYrVdOeqpDW5GvTH5SjE0Eh/w640-h332/unser%20Zuhause.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><br />I'd have to sit here and count up how many houses we've lived in over the course of my husband's career (in five US states and three other countries), but I think this house in Germany and the one we had in England were two of my favorites. I try to take pictures in and around the houses since we move so often because it's funny how fast you can forget! So on the left is the entryway to the house, then the living room, dining room and kitchen on the first floor. On the right page, there's pictures of Ryan's room, the main bathroom/laundry room (there were no en suite bathrooms in this house, so hubs and I had the bedroom directly across from the main bathroom and that is the closest distance between the washer/dryer and where my clothes live out of all the houses we've ever lived in), my craft room, and our bedroom, with several photo bombs by Ryan. I didn't put pics of the top floor, which had the guest room, a storage room, and one really huge room that we used for the hubs' hobby stuff and more storage, as well as another large bathroom. I did really like this house.<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAxxJhH0OsE8LwU_mqqvQqKd025O741BK6163ojMw9qfrxofPB81Ne5VVXyGcKT4ZKhUf4Dd9m0goDFtTANqdGdvtVZG-2jQenqsM-Y7bv5Oh3z72mtr2wAhyphenhyphen8LlNpGtWY6Yo3g2gAUXjEcI-BMTtWLyJIPTDXDTisCPnmD707d4ujDuz8w-6SbxmyhdQ8/s1920/Unser%20Zuhause%20Palette.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1696" data-original-width="1920" height="354" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAxxJhH0OsE8LwU_mqqvQqKd025O741BK6163ojMw9qfrxofPB81Ne5VVXyGcKT4ZKhUf4Dd9m0goDFtTANqdGdvtVZG-2jQenqsM-Y7bv5Oh3z72mtr2wAhyphenhyphen8LlNpGtWY6Yo3g2gAUXjEcI-BMTtWLyJIPTDXDTisCPnmD707d4ujDuz8w-6SbxmyhdQ8/w400-h354/Unser%20Zuhause%20Palette.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><br />Today's color palette: Dapper Denim, Certainly Celery, Cherry Cobbler, Cinnamon Cider, and Very Vanilla. I chose the paisley DSP because it coordinated with the colors in the kitchen and on my couch, and the pattern echoes the paisley on the comforter in my bedroom. Looks like it will be rainy tomorrow too, which might slow down our road trip a little bit.<br /><br />Anyway, since apparently I am just as contrary as Mary Mary, today's card has suns on it.<br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhoqVR363ZDv_x0KKlvd0I-iu7z0I_8xE7WQN9CG0mIND9e8W8nPXErWRX-hMphkgEVY6FanTuPF8wj6p3y2vvdoNHQc0VDNgGx6HS5v9vb6Ls7iRWtwXVM9tOl1VHol_-znJmDqHlpucuuV9zaQ2kVHQXFFHA4q-B6mOlXPztNWyJjpX4tMOx7Uq973hIa/s1920/Eggtastic%20AYSI318%20GDP435%20SSC330%20HSS433.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1920" data-original-width="1669" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhoqVR363ZDv_x0KKlvd0I-iu7z0I_8xE7WQN9CG0mIND9e8W8nPXErWRX-hMphkgEVY6FanTuPF8wj6p3y2vvdoNHQc0VDNgGx6HS5v9vb6Ls7iRWtwXVM9tOl1VHol_-znJmDqHlpucuuV9zaQ2kVHQXFFHA4q-B6mOlXPztNWyJjpX4tMOx7Uq973hIa/w556-h640/Eggtastic%20AYSI318%20GDP435%20SSC330%20HSS433.JPG" width="556" /></a></div><br />The Sunny Days DSP officially retired at the end of Sale-a-Bration, but I didn't even get to cut into any of it until this week. How's your day going? I think I have finally figured out a way to get my kid to brush his teeth without us getting into a fight about it every morning and evening--I told him if I had to tell him to do it more than 3 times, he loses his iPad for 24 hours. And he did it no problem this morning, woo! This has been a twice-daily battle for a long time so I'm happy about that.<br /><br />Anyway, I do have a card to share today.<br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhA2Y23e2ScdSsN98jd9YVo_ZoUgJnImuUFBZHEusVi9PTSqIHd_pHe7H0kbkPrgAWn8TsPQ_2-X2k4q-velZ9OpO3ydFwwFUqBZqnsDKx0L8DVYzHUW_5Z3QWyVeuKl7cXjgUrKDd2hEyaJhRUL1xA9ehjFZeuQldAhvIFSMAv2pGtq3807pi7KIs95kod/s1920/Timid%20Timmy%20CC&S532.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1920" data-original-width="1664" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhA2Y23e2ScdSsN98jd9YVo_ZoUgJnImuUFBZHEusVi9PTSqIHd_pHe7H0kbkPrgAWn8TsPQ_2-X2k4q-velZ9OpO3ydFwwFUqBZqnsDKx0L8DVYzHUW_5Z3QWyVeuKl7cXjgUrKDd2hEyaJhRUL1xA9ehjFZeuQldAhvIFSMAv2pGtq3807pi7KIs95kod/w554-h640/Timid%20Timmy%20CC&S532.JPG" width="554" /></a></div><br />I had just completed yesterday's rainy day fox card when I saw the colors at <a href="https://cascoloursandsketches.blogspot.com/2024/03/challenge-532-colours.html">CAS Colours & Sketches</a>:<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiomKKKgRlXl8Kxz1FJ-5_RjPBuS442cnrRO_0h-HhlgHmQTMaUiUKQaqTSw3NVUdLmTdIJoJsxm7n_dtkIgl_a3sGPAYCmb90S9OTNe5xcU5jvy_Sk0eP6CbjEtyLULDIs8l_F-tXWznyi-8QHMWICV_eQ0PvOesT_9TkSRPQv7RTpPmkHOTdqXtMoabNU/s400/CC&S%20color532mds-001.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="160" data-original-width="400" height="128" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiomKKKgRlXl8Kxz1FJ-5_RjPBuS442cnrRO_0h-HhlgHmQTMaUiUKQaqTSw3NVUdLmTdIJoJsxm7n_dtkIgl_a3sGPAYCmb90S9OTNe5xcU5jvy_Sk0eP6CbjEtyLULDIs8l_F-tXWznyi-8QHMWICV_eQ0PvOesT_9TkSRPQv7RTpPmkHOTdqXtMoabNU/s320/CC&S%20color532mds-001.png" width="320" /></a></div><br />And they made me think of Timmy the Turtle, who doesn't get inked up as much as the bunny and the fox in the Playing in the Rain stamp set, so here he is today! The bunny looks so happy to be playing in a puddle, the fox looks perfectly self-possessed with her raincoat and umbrella, and Timmy just looks...anxious. Right? Maybe he's nervous about being perched on that tree stump. Anyway, I kept today's card CAS with just a masked deckled circle shape behind Timmy to give him a spotlight. I used a light Crumb Cake blend for the bottom of his shell, and just layered different intensities of the Old Olive blends for the rest of him.<br /><br />That's it for me today! On Friday we're picking up the hubs at the airport and starting the drive to Colorado to look at houses...and last night I had a dream that the hubs got here and I wasn't even packed and he was grumpy because I wasn't ready and it for reals stressed me out a bit even when I woke up. Bet my facial expression looked a bit like Timmy's here. I am definitely packing up everything I can tomorrow afternoon so we're ready to rock on Friday morning. I had a lovely Saturday working on a couple of projects, watching a movie (it's rare I get control of the TV when Ryan is in the house), and reading a book. Pretty good day in my opinion. I picked Ryan up yesterday morning and he was so tired from having run around with his cousins that he mostly camped out on the couch : )<br /><br />Anyway, I have a layout to share today, from our 2014 road trip through Wales where I dragged the hubs to as many castles as I could manage. And today is the Welsh castle you're most likely to recognize:<br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEil-8ZmhpbXAyt9lUOG29veABSiCg3wOxD3GLiZOTWoI7G4vRiKx5m5nhAaYRj9d5tDU_m1qNFj_SqyJeCsK1GWWWlmc1O0n6HlK2AuYdEHs4OYpn1F7giDY9Vq7Zc5bNWylTnw5anscjtArNj0eaKjIa3rXaVpLksP9AydUk0HNku5EyzvJz3n9FWsqA/s1847/Caernarfon.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="962" data-original-width="1847" height="334" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEil-8ZmhpbXAyt9lUOG29veABSiCg3wOxD3GLiZOTWoI7G4vRiKx5m5nhAaYRj9d5tDU_m1qNFj_SqyJeCsK1GWWWlmc1O0n6HlK2AuYdEHs4OYpn1F7giDY9Vq7Zc5bNWylTnw5anscjtArNj0eaKjIa3rXaVpLksP9AydUk0HNku5EyzvJz3n9FWsqA/w640-h334/Caernarfon.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />This was the site of Charles' investiture as Prince of Wales, I wonder if/when they're going to do something similar for Prince William? It's another large castle and similar to several others we saw in Wales; I always think it's funny to see a centuries-old giant castle nestled right up next to a parking lot (car park) with modern cars in it.<br /><br />I used my all-time favorite sketch to make this layout, and only realized afterwards that I had used the same <a href="https://snapdragonstamps.blogspot.com/2020/07/beaumaris.html">layout for my Beaumaris pictures</a> and they're right next to each other. Oops. Well, that's what happens when I don't scrap my pictures in chronological order, I forget that I used that sketch already! Oh well, I like both of the layouts so they're staying the way they are. I even used a pink and a green in the same spots on both layouts!<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhp61we1UrWDW_K_yV3Y0P0lucRC4kna8m7fBJoDCziQI7pVYf2PbU8VqIGiTKWEcKcAKT7fzDKnLo2WfgnyZkRJiqkYF03uRMv4Z0fczLgCDzEzJbfOa_SqydLYwsa1abOYfigaVqUwnRf3ZYA_MhoJZ3LUjfgnBvneQN1Uydlve--YtJtDP8EtCJjyQ/s1920/Caernarfon%20Palette.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1920" data-original-width="1526" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhp61we1UrWDW_K_yV3Y0P0lucRC4kna8m7fBJoDCziQI7pVYf2PbU8VqIGiTKWEcKcAKT7fzDKnLo2WfgnyZkRJiqkYF03uRMv4Z0fczLgCDzEzJbfOa_SqydLYwsa1abOYfigaVqUwnRf3ZYA_MhoJZ3LUjfgnBvneQN1Uydlve--YtJtDP8EtCJjyQ/w318-h400/Caernarfon%20Palette.jpg" width="318" /></a></div><br />Today's fun color palette: Lemon Lime Twist, Calypso Coral, Garden Green, and Blueberry Bushel. Well, I get to have a relaxing day to myself--after Ryan and I had our monthly ice cream date yesterday (we have now completed 8 months of the hubs' 12-month deployment, woo!), I dropped him off to spend the weekend with his grandparents and then I went to the used book store because I know how to party. So I slept in this morning and then worked a little more on the house-hunting thing, and I plan to spend the rest of the day working on some projects in my craft room. And I'm going to enjoy it : )<br /><br />Anyway, I do have a card to share today, take a look:<br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiN1nXtUoCbki9KwPWA5kSG9-GP9qxLGeZsaCqE3izOP9f5VqMKYHR8I5uXbqkovCW-Ik2V867IcFFnlZPjFk5NsBmUtkNC2-pUgtYVHXWL6X60AMagwuD7BjfqgtIzk4w6yeCIkvZWasdb_sjhP2jR9HoT6ncFBm9ej-JpQoBIoVUnVanFEjY60D-7cny0/s1920/Spring%20Gnome%20RRCB225%20FMS625%20CTD782.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1920" data-original-width="1622" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiN1nXtUoCbki9KwPWA5kSG9-GP9qxLGeZsaCqE3izOP9f5VqMKYHR8I5uXbqkovCW-Ik2V867IcFFnlZPjFk5NsBmUtkNC2-pUgtYVHXWL6X60AMagwuD7BjfqgtIzk4w6yeCIkvZWasdb_sjhP2jR9HoT6ncFBm9ej-JpQoBIoVUnVanFEjY60D-7cny0/w540-h640/Spring%20Gnome%20RRCB225%20FMS625%20CTD782.JPG" width="540" /></a></div><br />I brought back last year's Friendly Gnomes for this card and this is only the second time I've used the stamp set, oops. I am still giggling a bit this morning from a conversation I had with Ryan after his TKD class yesterday. He wanted to tell me all about George, Ben, Abe, and Eleanor, as if these are friends of his...ya know, George was the first president and also he was the father of the world (yeah the whole thing), and Ben lived somewhere else for a while (he was ambassador to France) and he sometimes published a newspaper with his brother's name on it and that made his brother mad. Abe was the 16th president and he got shot (Ryan didn't remember anything else about Abe), and this other lady was first and she did a lot of stuff to make sure people got treated equally and could be safe at work and that women could vote (she sounds pretty rad, I was the one who remembered the name Eleanor). And that is American history according to Ryan, where last names are totally unnecessary. And it was perfect to showcase two cows. I used the coordinating cow punch for the top cow body and the bottom cow head, but the other pieces were snipped with scissors. The cow punch is the one I forgot to put on my first big SAB order in January and gave me an excuse to make a second order earlier this month. Fun fact: my friend Chris almost got in trouble in French class one time for trying to say "holy cow" in French. Turns out that one doesn't translate directly ; ) and was unintentionally close to cursing, though the teacher's reaction was pretty hilarious: one very loud, very shocked, very French OHH! and if she had been wearing pearls she totally would have clutched them.<br /><br />Anyway, apparently I am just very amused today, hope you enjoyed the stories. I'm going to watch this week's NCIS and then go back up to my craft room for some more fun while Ryan is at school. It's a tough life, I know. I blended Orchid Oasis and Fresh Freesia ink on my background panel, then flicked a bit of water on it and if I had been looking at the inspo pic when I stuck things down, I would have rotated the panel so the Orchid Oasis was on top like the colors of the drink in the photo. The glimmer paper I used was from last year's catalog and it's ombre, so I cut out several lavender sprigs and made sure I got a variety of shades on there. I chose this fun Lemon Lolly stripey paper for my background as a nod to the lemon in the inspo pic, plus it's just such a cheery backdrop for all the purples. Not gonna lie, this is one of my favorite cards ever!<br /><br />Don't forget to head over to the SUO Challenges blog to see what the rest of the design team did with this inspiration pic, and then we want to see what you make of it. I am doing my best to support her in her grief because Krissy's dogs are her babies and I totally understand that. I ordered a small memorial gift that will be delivered today and I will be sending her many cards in the mail, since that's pretty much all I can do from two states away.<br /><br />So today I'm sharing my scrapbook layout from when we said goodbye to our own girl, Sadie, nearly four years ago when she was 14 years old.<br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimiUROUL-ZLpnRWZQjQoU6yIe5A6S5Eb8AgW8xuNevk_qxpbACdW_P3uzYJzE4AugvcxM6AvIMBReIO0VuOeLxoQriM-3eb1zOZHDJjOB_SmdJCOWZHg3cNzgwUG7AoMBAliozNHAXvBbtCu0krwQ7bt9NeZNIL7N_6oeHURlIKZX0P1klRm5w356Uwg/s3928/Saying%20Goodbye%20Sadie.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2045" data-original-width="3928" height="334" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimiUROUL-ZLpnRWZQjQoU6yIe5A6S5Eb8AgW8xuNevk_qxpbACdW_P3uzYJzE4AugvcxM6AvIMBReIO0VuOeLxoQriM-3eb1zOZHDJjOB_SmdJCOWZHg3cNzgwUG7AoMBAliozNHAXvBbtCu0krwQ7bt9NeZNIL7N_6oeHURlIKZX0P1klRm5w356Uwg/w640-h334/Saying%20Goodbye%20Sadie.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><br />Man, this was a tough layout to make, but I am glad I have it for my furbabies' scrapbook. The two pictures on the bottom right were taken just two days before Sadie passed. I chose that multicolored washy background because it reminded me of a low-key Rainbow Bridge for my girl. I miss her and Vader still every day, but we are looking forward to adopting a dog or two after we move again this summer. I miss having furbabies.<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3gt9_K7oKXKGN7mIuQDKlFmBxYxPGAyJPpEAu2bv6Yx_E5IeMSuFE3B7nKVxMsWskro-_rIoQ0xTUn7Dmfe1uLI7NNHRl8CT0wUYp4B88SYv-wJd4NWcGjvRjcoOsmZ_L7Ugqi2nN425bzQ4-zkJW5kZ7ACjfnhtomdRMT_3bk9EpCvpNkyq98XK6uQ/s2716/Saying%20Goodbye%20Sadie%20Palette.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2429" data-original-width="2716" height="358" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3gt9_K7oKXKGN7mIuQDKlFmBxYxPGAyJPpEAu2bv6Yx_E5IeMSuFE3B7nKVxMsWskro-_rIoQ0xTUn7Dmfe1uLI7NNHRl8CT0wUYp4B88SYv-wJd4NWcGjvRjcoOsmZ_L7Ugqi2nN425bzQ4-zkJW5kZ7ACjfnhtomdRMT_3bk9EpCvpNkyq98XK6uQ/w400-h358/Saying%20Goodbye%20Sadie%20Palette.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><br />I used black for my page base, Cherry Cobbler to match Sadie's collar, and the other colors are in the watercolor wash background, Misty Moonlight, Blushing Bride, and So Saffron.<br /><br />Supplies, all SU!<br />Stamps: Back to Basics Alphabet, Happy Tails<br />Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Misty Moonlight, Basic Black marker<br />Paper: Basic Black, Cherry Cobbler, Misty Moonlight, Thick Basic White, Sand & Sea DSP<br />Accessories: Dog Builder Punch<br />Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2386704740948746957.post-27820893208592992172024-02-25T11:05:00.001-05:002024-02-25T11:05:40.307-05:00Thinking of Botanicals<p>Hey y'all, surprise Sunday post :) I made a couple of cards on Friday and I need to get one of them posted now before the challenge closes out, so here it is:<br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEitjGgktUIFbEkMl-dtnnWSJv296inVHF3qehwxnUihN1TN80_GPOJ5TWok4VLXjmOuXBTebTkDztNLamivgo1DvmpOO3sownULpCgxuMkfOr1TufgZ1GasXGEcx8bzWVenxvlSn9AlrNlq-m49HdOa6BYBjIrfSl8iEYFP94tpan9JDy_cIp_c229d2aFb/s1920/Thinking%20of%20Botanicals%20IB277.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1920" data-original-width="1637" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEitjGgktUIFbEkMl-dtnnWSJv296inVHF3qehwxnUihN1TN80_GPOJ5TWok4VLXjmOuXBTebTkDztNLamivgo1DvmpOO3sownULpCgxuMkfOr1TufgZ1GasXGEcx8bzWVenxvlSn9AlrNlq-m49HdOa6BYBjIrfSl8iEYFP94tpan9JDy_cIp_c229d2aFb/w546-h640/Thinking%20of%20Botanicals%20IB277.JPG" width="546" /></a></div><br />And here is the <a href="https://theseinspiredchallenges.blogspot.com/2024/02/inspired-by-tray.html">Inspired By... challenge</a>:<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhy7vzandQwb0pGzHqZR9Y7ryMZyZWRjXclQoIBo5UtDhSYXjI8a-7lSR9QBABeJn4sOK_LAY9WqN_MSViMFtqBZyWu1DUf0YmhRSeXF306D6__CA9Sa4iX1Run3tDlUY1sADWXyXSM7kEieFfgJLi8EMLcNOFoAVRDrOctWc20AIXdWJJ0fXSAKlbu1WOm/s320/IB277.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="320" data-original-width="320" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhy7vzandQwb0pGzHqZR9Y7ryMZyZWRjXclQoIBo5UtDhSYXjI8a-7lSR9QBABeJn4sOK_LAY9WqN_MSViMFtqBZyWu1DUf0YmhRSeXF306D6__CA9Sa4iX1Run3tDlUY1sADWXyXSM7kEieFfgJLi8EMLcNOFoAVRDrOctWc20AIXdWJJ0fXSAKlbu1WOm/s1600/IB277.png" width="320" /></a></div><br />The stamp set I used, Botanical Layers, was one of the new additions to the Sale-a-Bration rewards in February (hope you got it already because it's now out of stock until the middle of March). I'll be honest, I would not have gotten this stamp set at all except it was free, not that there's anything wrong with it but it wasn't on my wish list. But I thought I'd give it a go when I saw this inspiration pic, specifically the vase in the upper left corner. I chose a couple of stamps and two greens, stamped them directly on my card base, and then punched out the oval shape and blended on a bit of Smoky Slate ink and used that as my container for the plants. I decided it needed some "ground" so I used a Stampin' Blend to add a shadow on the bottom of the card and then I had to do another oval because it looked sloppy :p Anyway, this is not my favorite card in the history of ever, but it's okay, and I'm willing to give Botanical Layers another shot sometime in the future.<br /><br />That's it for me today, peeps. I've got some laundry in the washer and I need to convince the child to clean up more of his mess in the living room, wish me luck. I am particularly chuffed with myself because finally, at long last, I started my wedding scrapbook yesterday! Okay, so I had kind of mapped out what I wanted to do last week and sorted through pictures, but yesterday I actually STUCK THINGS DOWN. I'm starting with all the professional pictures we had, so the album is going to be very, very simple and should go quickly now that I've started. Then I have a large stack of other pics that will go in a different album. But at least I've started!!!<br /><br />Anyway, my card today features a happy little dinosaur.<br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqAeGvPqP6tYYNZ0fNXam9RErWUeQCvFzJItqfDclhLrTQCDCqS7RpSKPKEsst7gAqAFZKWBFgqtWk3JIq7GdOEyUUIfc78vyFMlSYvvWBcte_ACFohpZKW_M89cnNOBABED5tcnhcyYcM2lvkhaHOeuHaPW66Bg6WDZ5LJ4-0zDCbVzC2evcRz1Y1vpG7/s1920/RAWRsome%20Steggy%20CIC588%20GDP433.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1602" data-original-width="1920" height="534" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqAeGvPqP6tYYNZ0fNXam9RErWUeQCvFzJItqfDclhLrTQCDCqS7RpSKPKEsst7gAqAFZKWBFgqtWk3JIq7GdOEyUUIfc78vyFMlSYvvWBcte_ACFohpZKW_M89cnNOBABED5tcnhcyYcM2lvkhaHOeuHaPW66Bg6WDZ5LJ4-0zDCbVzC2evcRz1Y1vpG7/w640-h534/RAWRsome%20Steggy%20CIC588%20GDP433.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><br />I used the sunny colors from <a href="http://www.global-design-project.com/2024/02/global-design-project-433-color.html">Global Design Project</a>:<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgk5VRqnz0xsaJKAG_dm6HG2N1O59_zD485kY2fWQcizahoWqWu2dpZCIcgdeQb-h7KgC1Za8tX5yHlXYFqE0NvwJ0cK-Iqgn80ODla6pvUkCHjQ4GD1OeM8AG9D6RuNaPEoB_lr_KpDzT0Ok9rZ4kTNSCone68AkDS-_c4-eNOOmohpirAbcw9o-25Map-/s400/GDP433.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="400" data-original-width="400" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgk5VRqnz0xsaJKAG_dm6HG2N1O59_zD485kY2fWQcizahoWqWu2dpZCIcgdeQb-h7KgC1Za8tX5yHlXYFqE0NvwJ0cK-Iqgn80ODla6pvUkCHjQ4GD1OeM8AG9D6RuNaPEoB_lr_KpDzT0Ok9rZ4kTNSCone68AkDS-_c4-eNOOmohpirAbcw9o-25Map-/s320/GDP433.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />I needed some more dinosaur cards for my dino-loving pal Krissy, so the <a href="https://cupcakeinspirations.blogspot.com/2024/02/cupcake-inspiration-challenge-588.html">Cupcake Inspirations challenge</a> was perfect:<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZ-dvgNLqCCQh6pykX3m-E3CpkzyjIbbkIA8g3-zaHMiMeg5XZy6RX2XJVsXyC1HGqXG5BR8MM-Zvx_r2o_QbCkbzxKHyGP9vlULMZh1LdPO7VDmCGB9TSKfN9IVoyU714XSaLixVN_iC6G7l7z5eoGfT44GkvOhkTnNkbzpxm8yrEizm8jE_jK6jN2NEq/s384/CIC%20588%20Dinosaurs%20February%2026.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="384" data-original-width="384" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZ-dvgNLqCCQh6pykX3m-E3CpkzyjIbbkIA8g3-zaHMiMeg5XZy6RX2XJVsXyC1HGqXG5BR8MM-Zvx_r2o_QbCkbzxKHyGP9vlULMZh1LdPO7VDmCGB9TSKfN9IVoyU714XSaLixVN_iC6G7l7z5eoGfT44GkvOhkTnNkbzpxm8yrEizm8jE_jK6jN2NEq/s320/CIC%20588%20Dinosaurs%20February%2026.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />Plus it's always fun to bust out Dino Days again, even if it is long retired. We had a bit of an adventure yesterday--I asked Ryan to take some cards out to the mailbox for me, and he announced that there was a dog wandering around the neighborhood. Said doggo was a very large German Shepherd boy who quickly invited himself into our house. He ended up staying with us for several hours until animal control came to pick him up at 8:30 last night; he does have a microchip, so I hope he will be reunited with his people today. He was a pretty well-behaved doggo, though so large that he made Ryan a bit nervous (I would bet that dog weighs more than 100 pounds). So that was our adventure yesterday!<br /><br />Anyway, I have a sweet little card to share today with yet another new stamp set : )<br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgygX1arrP-QZvfyYTQr0xzPT2G5040Z8cy6BSCBd-fUSW7P8eWxdOMkuxrAOeQpDCgicTeoXWZwtIXOG82ZjndNY3CTMDfsfMRXoqLQ0j1stnBetu7eWTlCysqTnyeLDfASqjhWQIAFA_7_YqnLsf78q4XkN1VLw1Qid7eS8SgInhDf9aRKzGK4RN9Phbk/s1920/Journey%20Daisy%20Bouquet%20FMS624%20CTD781.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1920" data-original-width="1644" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgygX1arrP-QZvfyYTQr0xzPT2G5040Z8cy6BSCBd-fUSW7P8eWxdOMkuxrAOeQpDCgicTeoXWZwtIXOG82ZjndNY3CTMDfsfMRXoqLQ0j1stnBetu7eWTlCysqTnyeLDfASqjhWQIAFA_7_YqnLsf78q4XkN1VLw1Qid7eS8SgInhDf9aRKzGK4RN9Phbk/w548-h640/Journey%20Daisy%20Bouquet%20FMS624%20CTD781.JPG" width="548" /></a></div><br />Inspirational Sketches was an impulse buy, I think I used reward money on one of my recent orders to acquire it. Man, with Ryan being off school last Friday and today, and then me catching some kinda virus, I'm losing track of what day it is. Forgot to put the trash out last night and to my surprise, they did pick up this morning, so I guess it'll just have to wait until next week.<br /><br />Anyway! We had Ryan's taco fiesta on Saturday and it was good--there were 19 people here and that was just close family. Ryan had a great time and that's the first time we've had all his family over to celebrate a birthday for him. And then yesterday he was very nice to me while I was totally out of commission with this cold thing I have. Maybe it's just the DayQuil talking, but I'm feeling better today.<br /><br />So, on to Scrappy Monday! This was one of our first day trips in Germany in the fall of 2020. Because of those beautiful flowers in the focal point photo, I busted out the Delightful Floral DSP that's an Online Exclusive on the SU! website. I didn't buy the coordinating Translucent Floral stamp set so I just cut some flowers out of one of the patterns and used the nice green wash for my page borders. The page base might look black, but it's Blackberry Bliss--I almost never manage to use purple for my page bases so I'm chuffed when I work it in.<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEis-z0MOdnSdTli4wjvfUfaaQqHqrHk7Ms4v_17PdgduYIxuZeWF2ZLAy1vif_xJirXds0uDdNVApRAXJkKVJ1STkDEmBKhq1c_kiO0teYCvcuC2QcuKiPlTXJWnvLZayuGQT2gJue98yesuxkaHaiplk2Y4f1ZV0sc14cCkzMdCi_mYve-_q9Skkdr7z3O/s1920/Bacharach%20Palette.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1398" data-original-width="1920" height="291" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEis-z0MOdnSdTli4wjvfUfaaQqHqrHk7Ms4v_17PdgduYIxuZeWF2ZLAy1vif_xJirXds0uDdNVApRAXJkKVJ1STkDEmBKhq1c_kiO0teYCvcuC2QcuKiPlTXJWnvLZayuGQT2gJue98yesuxkaHaiplk2Y4f1ZV0sc14cCkzMdCi_mYve-_q9Skkdr7z3O/w400-h291/Bacharach%20Palette.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><br />The colors are taken straight from the DSP except for Terracotta Tile, but I thought it looked good with the flowers that are supposedly Calypso Coral. And Tempting Turquoise isn't in the paper either, but it matched the color of my fleece in the photos. So the color palette is Blackberry Bliss, Lemon Lime Twist, Granny Apple Green, Berry Burst, Lemon Lolly, Terracotta Tiel, Tempting Turquoise, and white. Pretty much a full rainbow today.<br /><br />Have a great day, y'all.<br /><br />Supplies, all SU!<br />Stamps: Alphabet Antiques Upper & Lower<br />Ink: Blackberry Bliss<br />Paper: Blackberry Bliss, Lemon Lolly, Berry Burst, Granny Apple Green, Terracotta Tile, Tempting Turquoise, Thick Basic White, Delightful Floral DSP<br />Accessories: None<br />Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2386704740948746957.post-13094315997981583062024-02-16T11:23:00.003-05:002024-02-16T11:23:55.783-05:00Purple Submarine<p>Hey y'all, what a week it's been. He also liked the Beach Boys' Good Vibrations. Anyway, both of my sub cards were quick to put together and it was fun to play with the new punch and dies. A few Tahitian Tide pearls completed my cards.<br /><br />Okay, I'm going to go crawl back in bed for a little bit and hope that I feel better this afternoon.
