Pheasant Feathers

Mornin' y'all!  How is your week going?  I didn't sleep well last night but I'm still in a good mood and ready to tackle the day--I think that getting back in my workout routine has been a real mental boost, I love it.  I'm still having to modify some exercises from where Daphne tried to take me out and I twisted my knee...most of the time I'm fine, but every once in a while I move it the wrong way and it screams at me.  So I try to keep it from screaming.

Anyway, I had a lovely productive afternoon in the warcraft room yesterday (so called because the hubs and the kid use it for playing war games, and I use it for paper crafting), and here's my card for today:

This note is actually not so little, that pheasant image is large enough that I made this card 5x7 instead of the standard size so I could use the Hand-Stamped Sentiments sketch:

Congrats to them on their five hundredth challenge, that's quite an achievement!  I did modify the sketch a little bit by making it a landscape card instead of portrait, and while my ratios aren't exactly the same as the sketch I think you'll see all the pieces are there.  Plus ribbon, because lately I want to use ribbon?  What even is happening.

Anyway, yesterday I saw a gorgeous card on Jan's blog and that's how I found the latest Color Inkspiration challenge featuring a different bird:

I only added Very Vanilla and some touches of gold for accents.  My bird theme was solidified by the As You See It challenge:

Not only does my pheasant have some lovely tail feathers, I used the Fine Feathers stamp set to stamp the Cajun Craze panel with more feathers, just to make sure the feather theme was obvious.  Feather feather feather.  I think I need to ink up my Cajun Craze ink pad though, it's not showing up very well but I promise feathers are present.

Another thing to be happy about?  Two stamp sets will be delivered today, one autumn-themed and the other one (you guessed it) Halloween.  And I took advantage of the Spellbinders sale yesterday and got some witchy dies, as if I don't have more than enough Halloween stuff in my stash as it is.  More stuff to show off for next year's Halloween Hex-Travaganza!

Time to take my bestest girl for a walk, she's giving me puppy dog eyes.  Cheers!

  1. Oh glorious, Christy - what a great image! So smart to make the card larger - I struggled with fitting everything in that sketch, too, lol. This is gorgeous - great colors and sentiment! (War Craft room, snicker, perfect...) Thanks so much for playing at As You See It!

  2. That pheasant is so perfect in those colours Christy and you used the sketch to great effect - sometimes going bigger is definitely better! Glad you are building up your workout resilience again - a morning workout definitely helps get you back on track after a less-than-great night. Thanks for sharing with us for our feather challenge over at As You See It! (I had my money on you featuring a peacock feather this time around - how wrong I was!)

  3. Lovely to see you here at As You See It as well as at Colour INKspiration. Funny story about that card - I sat down at my desk to do the CAS Colours & Sketches challenge a couple of weeks ago, used the colours on my desk, went to enter the card into the challenge and realised I'd used the wrong colours for that challenge - but had done my CI Team card a few weeks early! Anyway, love your pretty pheasant especially as it brings back childhood memories of my brother's bird aviary which had a golden pheasant pair.

  4. This is lovely--and I have a Ornate Layer scrap sitting on my desk in that same color right now! How pretty it is behind your pheasant. I love the feather stamping on the panel too! We used to see pheasants a lot in my neck of the woods...now, we never see them, so it's nice to see this one on your card! Thanks for playing with my theme this week at As You See It!

  5. Gorgeous jewel tones for your card and I love how you incorporated the sketch with all of them! Your pheasant really makes a bold statement and lovely masculine card as well. Thanks for joining the hand stamped sentiments challenge!
