I've said this before, but one of the fun things about stamping is that you're not bound by anyone else's rules for what colors things can be. Bright purple leaves? Sure, why not! Green-skinned witches? Totally! How about a blue tree?
I LIKE IT. Fun and different, right? So here's the Create with Connie and Mary color combo that inspired my blue tree:
I really wanted to make something with these colors because I haven't hardly touched Delightful Dijon since it debuted. But it is a fall color to me, so it'll probably get more action now.
My original idea was to stamp more of the leafy bits around the edges...
But then I thought it made my card look like it has measles, which isn't really what I was going for. And not until I saw the photos on the computer did I think that maybe I would have liked this better on a So Saffron card base. D'oh! That happens a lot, I think of something I might have wanted to do differently when I'm uploading on the computer. But a.) I'm lazy and b.) it's two flights of stairs from my computer to my craft room. So the card base is staying Delightful Dijon, but at least it doesn't have measles.
Hold up a minute...
Theeeeerrrre it is, much mo' bettah. And this time I did the little splotches more spread out instead of covering everything, and I like it better now. It's like Goldilocks, and this one's juuuust right.
Cheers, peeps!
Supplies, all SU!
Stamps: Sheltering Tree
Ink: Delightful Dijon, So Saffron, Night of Navy
Paper: Delightful Dijon, So Saffron, Night of Navy, Very Vanilla
Accessories: None. Really! It's a flat card and I hand-cut the flagged end of the sentiment.
LOVE that last one, but the first one is almost equally as beautiful. VERY nice design. And I do like the blue with those brown colors. Yay! Do you stamp the trunk and limbs AFTER the leaves? It does look like it's on top of the leaves.
ReplyDeleteGreat job!
hahaha! You're right!! I really liked the first card, yep, too many splotches on the second and WOW that third nailed it! :D I love it!
ReplyDeletelol...I'm glad I'm not the only one who second guesses their card creations! I actually really like all of them! Great job with the color challenge this week on Create with Connie and Mary!
ReplyDeleteLovely - I agree, the last one has just the right amount of spots and as for the blue tree - well, it works for me! Thanks for joining us over at Create With Connie and Mary this week!
ReplyDeleteOh I do think things look different on the computer.. at least I see my cards differently from the photos quite often! Hey, I like the blue tree! And although I like both cards, the second is my fave. : ) Thanks for joining us for the color challenge this week at Create with Connie and Mary!
ReplyDeleteI have to say I like the first and the third...the second one I had soooo many spots in front of my eyes! LOL!!! What a great fall card! Thanks for playing along this week in the Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge!
ReplyDeleteIt is always fun to see a card three different ways so you can pick your favorite. I agree, trees can be blue, and also agree that the Dijon will get more use as we head into fall! Great cards! Thank you for joining us at Create with Connie and Mary!
