SUO Challenges: Summer Colors

Wow, how is it the end of September already?  Is it starting to feel like fall where you are?

We may be edging closer to October, but the SUO Challenges team has a summery color challenge for you:  Daffodil Delight, Mango Melody, Granny Apple Green, Coastal Cabana, Bermuda Bay.  Yes, it's a lot of colors, but I know you can handle it.  Here's my card:

I just love Cute Fruit from the beginner brochure and I know I'm not alone.  I used Daffodil Delight, Mango Melody, and Granny Apple Green for my little pile o' fruit and let the blues be the backdrop of the card.  I think that banana stamp might come in handy because I frequently feel like I'm going bananas (teehee).

Please join us for some fun with this hot color combo and upload your creation at the SUO Challenges blog.  See you there!

Supplies, all SU!
Stamps:  Cute Fruit
Ink:  Daffodil Delight, Mango Melody, Granny Apple Green, Bermuda Bay, Cinnamon Cider
Paper:  Coastal Cabana, Bermuda Bay, Thick Whisper White, Artistry Blooms DSP

Tennessee, Part 3: Let's Go Exploring

Scrappy Monday, y'all!  Let's keep trucking right along with the Tennessee layouts, shall we?

I don't think I've used Cajun Craze as a page base very often, but I'm really loving it on here.  And since I had fewer pictures that I wanted to use on this particular layout, I left a good amount of empty space to show off that deep orange :)  Also it felt like I cut out a zillion leaves in the course of doing the Tennessee layouts (and there were a lot of layouts).  This is another one with fewer photographs, so I got to use another sketch that I really like and have never been able to use before.

I think this is pretty much the same colors as part 2, but rearranged:  Cajun Craze, Mossy Meadow, Soft Suede, Crushed Curry, Early Espresso, and Very Vanilla.

Cheers!

Stamps:  Notable Alphabet, Calendar Alphabet & Numbers, For All Things
Ink:  Mossy Meadow, Crushed Curry, Early Espresso marker
Paper:  Cajun Craze, Soft Suede, Early Espresso, Thick Very Vanilla, Color Me Autumn DSP

Ryan: February (Again)

We're almost at the end, folks.  Since Ryan's birthday is right smack in the middle of the month, I did a February layout for right after he was born and then another one for when he turned one.

After all, I needed a place to write about that crazy move.  We never did a photo shoot for his birthday; the three middle pics on here were taken on his first birthday and that was it, so it's a good thing we did his birthday celebration before we got to NC.

Today's color palette:  Coastal Cabana (I used this a lot in Ryan's baby book), Pacific Point, Flirty Flamingo, Lovely Lipstick, Soft Suede, and Whisper White.  It's a bunch of pink and hearts but you can't escape that with Valentine's Day.

See you next time, same Bat time, same Bat channel :)

Supplies, all SU!
Stamps:  Letters for You, Teddy & Train, Forever Lovely
Ink:  Early Espresso, Soft Suede, Flirty Flamingo, Versamark
Paper:  Coastal Cabana, Lovely Lipstick, Pacific Point, Flirty Flamingo, Thick Whisper White, All My Love DSP

Tennessee, Part 2: Relaxing at the Cabin

Scrappy Monday, folks!  I'm back with some more fun fall pages from Tennessee.

I showed Missy pictures of all the Tennessee layouts when I finished them a few months ago and she laughed about my comment in the journaling about how this is the very first Missy vacation where we spent a lot of time just relaxing.  She tends to plan for go-go-go on vacations (see:  China), but this was our first one where we had to take our boys into account, and I think that's what made the difference.

Once again, I used the Color Me Autumn DSP and it dictated most of the colors.  It coordinates with the first layout but it's not a carbon copy.  So today's color palette is Crushed Curry, Mossy Meadow, Cajun Craze, Soft Suede, Early Espresso, and Very Vanilla.

Cheers, y'all!

Ryan: Happy Birthday!

I have a two-fer today for Ryan's baby book because I'm up to his first birthday celebration!

The week before Ryan's birthday, we were moving out of our house in Virginia and prepping to move into the new house in North Carolina, so Ryan spent his first birthday in a hotel.  We did a birthday celebration at the Virginia hotel so that Missy and Bennet could be there too (and Missy's mom), and both my parents were in town to help us with the move.  That turned out to be a Very Good Thing because once we got to NC, all hell broke loose:  the day we got our household goods delivered, the hubs had the flu and a 105-degree fever, Ryan was coming down with it too, and I was in the hospital emergency room, waiting to be admitted for emergency gallbladder surgery.  That was the most exciting move we've ever had, and definitely worse than either of the overseas moves.  (As I type this, we haven't gotten to Germany yet, so I'm hoping that move isn't as heinous as this one was even though I know we're in for a two-week quarantine when we arrive).

So anyway, I got a cheap tablecloth to put on the floor and we got a Red Velvet cake from Wegman's for Ryan's first birthday cake.  I picked another favorite DSP and chose the colors based on that.

Pacific Point isn't in the DSP but works well with the other colors, which are Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry, Tangelo Twist, Mossy Meadow, and Whisper White.  I bought multiple packs of this DSP because I loved this pattern so much.

Cheers, y'all!

SUO Challenges: Water World

Are ya ready for a new SUO Challenge?

This time we've got a theme with lots of scope for imagination:  sea, nautical, coastal, world are your keywords.  I have quite a few retired stamp sets that would fit in that theme, but I had to ink up my favorite (and still current) Seaside Notions.

I'm a little bit in love with this color combination too: Seaside Spray, Misty Moonlight, and Calypso Coral (with a smidge of Petal Pink on the seahorse).  I CASEd the layout from page 13 of the annual catalog, don't forget those catalogs are a gold mine of inspiration :). Once again I think my sequins are retired, but everything else on here is current.  Haha, my sea card is current.  I amuse myself at least :D :D :D

Show us your nautical notions on the SUO Challenges blog!  Cheers, y'all!

Stamps:  Seaside Notions
Ink:  Calypso Coral, Misty Moonlight, Petal Pink & Seaside Spray Blends

Tennessee, Part 1: Mountain Getaway

Scrappy Monday, y'all!  As I type this, I am dreaming of cooler temperatures and fall foliage, so today I'm starting a series of scrapbook layouts from our Thanksgiving 2018 trip to Tennessee with Missy and Bennet.

So here is layout #1!  I decided to use the Color Me Autumn DSP on all the Tennessee layouts, with the Notable Alphabet for page titles and For All Things for accents (with an exception that you'll see later).  But just because I used the same pack of patterned paper doesn't mean I used the same colors on every layout, but I do admit there's a lot of green and yellow going on.  As if we could escape it with four Baylor Bears in one little cabin.  We rented a cabin just outside of Gatlinburg for the week of Thanksgiving.

Today's color palette:  Garden Green, Crushed Curry, Cajun Craze, Blackberry Bliss, Soft Suede, Early Espresso, and Very Vanilla.  Garden Green is NOT one of the colors in the Color Me Autumn DSP, but ti seemed to play well with it anyway and there are two different greens in the patterned paper I used (Mossy Meadow and Old Olive).

Have a great day, peeps!

Ryan: January

Ooh hey, we finally hit 2018 in Ryan's baby book, and since his birthday is in February that means we're almost done!  Which means I'll start sharing the baby book layouts for my nephew next, haha.  I haven't made any more baby books since that one though.

I was keeping track of what colors I used for Ryan's baby book and by this point I was like NEEDS MOAR PURPLE so that's why the Rich Razzleberry page base.  Not sure it was the best decision, but that's what I did.  I picked a colorful patterned paper and then used the same colors for my photo mats so this January layout is anything but dreary.  And also THAT YODA HAT.  I love it.

Pretty much got a full rainbow happening here:  Rich Razzleberry, Tangerine Tango, Lucky Limeade, Pacific Point, Pool Party, Daffodil Delight, Chocolate Chip, and Whisper White.

Until next time, stampy friends!

Niagara Falls, Part 2

Scrappy Monday!  As promised, I'm back with part 2 of Niagara Falls pictures, with two layouts for the price of one today.

I kept the same color combination as the first layout, but used Mint Macaron for the page base instead of Tranquil Tide.  The Frosted Floral DSP I used has a bit of a sheen to it, which adds a special touch to these pages.

I kicked myself a bit after I finished these; I had an 8x10 of that picture of the waterfall (bottom left) and I FORGOT I had the enlargement when I made the pages.  But I didn't want to redo any of this either.

Same color palette as last time:  Tranquil Tide, Mint Macaron, Blackberry Bliss, Night of Navy, and Whisper White.

Cheers, y'all!

Stamps:  First Frost, Rooted in Nature
Ink:  Tranquil Tide, Night of Navy, Blackberry Bliss

Ryan: Eleven Months

Hey y'all!  Back with another baby book layout and the finish line is in sight, this is his 11-month photo shoot.  Lemme tell ya, Ryan's baby book is GIGUNDOR.

Here's another outfit that I just loved and picked specifically so it would be in his baby book.  Isn't it the cutest?  When I was a wee young lass, my favorite toy was a stuffed lion named Bravely who talked when you squeezed him, so for a while my mom was getting allllll the lion stuff for Ryan (whose favorite stuffy is a duck).  Ryan spent most of this photo shoot trying to escape (see the top left photo and two bottom right photos).  As he got more mobile, monthly photo shoots got more complicated.

The Coastal Cabana jacket is what drove the color palette here, I picked the patterned paper I wanted to use and then built the rest of the color palette around it:  Calypso Coral, Crushed Curry, Blueberry Bushel, Coastal Cabana, Soft Suede, and Whisper White.

Toodles, kids!

Supplies, mostly SU!
Stamps:  A Little Wild, Altenew sentiment
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black, Blueberry Bushel, So Saffron & Soft Suede Blends, Calypso Coral & Early Espresso markers

SUO Challenges: Get Punchy or Die

Good morning stampy friends!  It's time once more for a new challenge from SUO Challenges!

This one is probably easy for most all of you: use dies or punches.  I used an old favorite set of dies and a new favorite set to make my card :)

Yeah, if a die set has "stitched" in the name of it, I'm probably going to buy it ;) How do you like the Stitched Leaves dies?  I admit I really liked a card on page 49 of the mini catalog and it inspired my leafy creation here.  Also the Plaid Tidings DSP stack is like my new favorite set of papers, so many great colors and I've always loved me a plaid.  I wish I could have them all in 12x12 size too.  I probably would not have put Mango Melody, Cajun Craze, and Blackberry Bliss together all by my onesies, but I do love how they look here!

Your turn!  Make a punch-tastic or die-riffic card and share it on the SUO Challenges blog.  Mwah!

Supplies, all SU!
Stamps:  Love of Leaves
Ink:  Versamark, Mango Melody
Paper:  Mango Melody, Blackberry Bliss, Cajun Craze, Thick Whisper White
