Happy 4th of July, y'all! I still haven't posted a scrapbook layout for this week, but I discovered I don't have any 4th of July ones in the hopper anyway so this morning I've dressed the kiddo in the most obnoxiously stars and stripes outfit I could put together and we're going to take some pictures today.
In the meantime, I made a card!
And it's as American as apple pie! :) Apparently this is my week to do white card bases and maybe I should have ordered more thick Whisper White cardstock. I run through that pretty fast.
Anyway, I made this for the Retro Rubber Challenge:
I decided to go with the red, white, and blue color combination and the food theme. When am I going to need a card that says "There's no such thing as too much pie"? No idea, but whenever that occasion arises, now I will be prepared. Haha! Anyway, the apples are from the stamp set Perfectly Preserved, which I got in 2012, and that sentiment is from a fall 2014 My Paper Pumpkin kit, so all the stamps are more than a little retro. I used Real Red for the apples, Granny Apple Green for the stems (appropriate, no?), and Pacific Point for the sentiment. I need a Pacific Point ink refill.
I'm off to play with the kiddo until the hubs wakes up, and later today I imagine we're going to be setting off fireworks in the backyard. I'll take pictures! And also, I'm going to make an apple pie. Because reasons.
Cheers, y'all! And happy Independence Day!
Supplies, all SU!

Ink: Pacific Point, Granny Apple Green, Real Red
Paper: Thick Whisper White

Who needs a reason for pie?! I love the clean look of your layout and the crispness of those bright colours. Granny Apple Green - they're my favourite apples and this may well be soon my favourite green! Thanks so much for joining us with this beauty at Retro Rubberm], Christy.
ReplyDeleteSo I wore red capris with a red and white striped shirt that had blue with white stars on the yoke and across the tops of the sleeves. I had on my navy shoes to go with. Is that obnoxious enough? I did get cute pix with Ryan in the shirt I made him. Looks like the 4th of July apparel is going to become a yearly thing. Well, I enjoy it and I LOVE all the different patriotic fabrics they come up with.
ReplyDeleteNice card, Kik!
I couldn't agree more, there is no such thing as too much pie! Love the little Apple border, really sweet and very CAS. Thanks for playing along with us at Retro Rubber this time. Claire DT
ReplyDeleteLOL, we were just talking about this stamp set Monday night at our club, and I recognized the sentiment as well! PERFECT to put it all together! And yes, when you need a pie card, you'll be all ready! Love it! So happy you shared this with us at Retro Rubber this week!
ReplyDeleteEspecially homemade pie! Love the take on our color theme, thanks for playing along with us at Retro Rubber!
