Sketch Milestone for The Paper Players

Mornin' y'all and happy Sunday!  I hope you had fun with Claire's fall challenge last week, and it's time for a new challenge today.  The amazing Ann is hosting our sketch challenge this month, and it's a milestone number--800!  So we are bringing back our very first sketch:

Isn't that fun?  I couldn't resist playing with the Painted Pumpkins suite again (hurry up fall!) and here's what I made:

I really love that dark pattern with the pumpkins so that's where I started and built the card around that.  I chose two other patterns to complement the first one, and then I had to add some thin mats around the layers, and I stamped my greeting directly on the stripey pattern as a little variation on the sketch.  This time I stamped just one of the pumpkins with Secret Sea ink and used Golden Glow Blends to color it in, just for something different than what I've done with it before, and I added a couple of leaves and vines behind it and then some Painted Patch Dots to finish it off.

Check out the other design team creations on the Paper Players blog, and you can hop through their individual blogs to leave some comments too:

  1. I love that dark-patterned pumpkin paper too; combined with that punny sentiment and the gingham, what's not to love?! Such a fun fall card.

  2. Awesome card, Christy! I LOVE this pumpkin paper paired with the plaid. Stamping the sentiment directly onto the striped paper really adds interest. This sentiment is a hoot, and will be a day brightener for sure. Such a fun Fall card! Have a wonderful week!

  3. I like the way you started with the paper and worked around from that. And I do always like a funny sentiment, so you got me there too. I've never quite understood why pumpkins are so popular in card-making, although they do make an excellent soup and go well with a roast! However, you do a great job of making them attractive in this card. Happy 800!

  4. I always love me a punny sentiment and this one is no exception. I love your profusion of gourds and that checked background is perfect for them.

  5. Pumpkins, plaid and all those glorious colors - I love your autumnal design, Christy! The sentiment is fantastic too; it's always great to add a punny sentiment whenever possible! Super cute! Like you, I can hardly wait for fall to roll around. I think we have finally had our last 100 degree day yesterday and the forecast is for temps going down into the 80s, so I'm thrilled. Hope your temps drop soon too!

  6. Christy, I love everything about this great card. The dark background really make the array of pumpkins pop. The plaid is perfect for your background. I am loving this puny sentiment, too! Have a great weekend, My Friend!
