Dino-Mite Birthday

Mornin' y'all and happy Friday!  We have had a LOT of rain here for the last week or so, and last night I woke up at around 2am to quite the thunderstorm happening outside.  Lots of lightning and heavy rain.  Daphne likes finding all the puddles when we take our morning walks.

So, it's been a while since I made a dinosaur card and I have one for today:

Krissy, my dino-loving pal, has a birthday coming up so of course this is for her.  I used this week's Creative Colour Challenge:

I did sneak in a bit of Cloud Cover for some details, but that color reads as a neutral gray to me so I think it's allowable.  I also used the Atlantic Hearts sketch:

Easy peasy.  That's it for me today, peeps, hope you have a great holiday weekend.  Cheers!

Supplies, all SU!

Pretty Pink Trixie

Mornin' y'all!  How's your Friday going?  I am looking forward to some serious crafting time today : )

So how about a card I made yesterday?  Wait, I think I made it the day before yesterday.  Anyway, here it is:

Trixie the Triceratops has gone pink for today!  I used this week's sketch from CASE-ing Tuesday Sketches:

The measurements on the sketch are for a notecard rather than an A2 card, but I made mine the standard A2 so it just comes off as more CAS.  Always need more dino cards for my friend Krissy...you know, I have two or three dino stamp sets that I haven't inked up yet, I should do that!

I also used the latest challenge from Color Hues:

I'm not sure Petunia Pop counts as plummy, but it's the closest I could get in current colors (I needed one with Stampin' Blends).  I used Pretty in Pink for my pink color.

That's it for me, y'all.  The weather is nicer today than yesterday (no mist) so I'll be taking the Daphinator out for her tour of the neighborhood here shortly.  Cheers!

Pair o' Dinos

Mornin' y'all, insomnia continues but I did get started on my new project yesterday (details to be revealed probably over the weekend).  The hubs suggested that I shouldn't read right before bedtime and I clutched my metaphorical pearls.  I can't NOT read, that's just not in my nature!

Anyway, it's been a little bit since my last dino card so it's time for a new one.

I am convinced that Darling Dinos, like the newly retired Birds Eye View, is a stamp set that can be used with *any* color combination ever invented.  I used this week's Freshly Made Sketch:

Paired with the latest Color Throwdown:

I used Night of Navy, Pool Party, and Real Red, with a bit of Smoky Slate thrown in for good measure.  I have a couple of quilted pieces like the inspo pic that I got in Ohio's Amish country around ten years ago.

That's it for me, kids.  I'm off to take Ryan to school, do some grocery shopping, walk the Daph...all the things.  And then work on my new project : D  Cheers!

Donna in Mauve

Mornin' y'all.  Ryan is staying home today since he's not feeling good this morning, so we're going to have a quiet day here at the casa and hope he feels better soon.  Tell that to Daphne who kept squeaking a ball toy very loudly in my ear as I was trying to do yoga this morning.

Anyway, here's my card for today:

Another day, another dino card for my dino-loving pal Krissy.  I've decided that this dino's name is Donna, to go with Polly the triceratops and Trudy the T. Rex.  I wanted to try out the CAS Colours & Sketches challenge:

Might be hard to distinguish between the Moody Mauve and Blackberry Bliss, but I promise they're both on there.  The hearts are stamped in Blackberry Bliss and her toenails are colored with Blackberry Bliss nail polish.  Her spots are the two shades of Moody Mauve Blends; I tried coloring her whole body in with them and it just didn't look quite right so she's Ivory with Moody Mauve spots.

I did a CAS-ified version of this week's CASE-ing Tuesday Sketch:

Instead of layers, I stamped hearts on one side of the card base and didn't use any embellishments so I could keep it CAS.

I was super tired all day yesterday and took a big long nap in the middle of the day, but happily I did get some work done on more scrapbook layouts.  I had a stack of 8 layouts that were all done except for journaling, so I started work on those.  I am looking forward to being back in the scrappin' groove again, I've missed it while simultaneously feeling uninspired to do it.  Sometimes the creative spirit is persnickety like that.

Anyway, I'm going to go check on the kiddo and see how he's feeling.  Hope y'all stay healthy out there.  Peace!

Dino Duo

Mornin' y'all.  I made sure to rest up and take it easy yesterday and I'm feeling better today, which is good because we're going to a thing this afternoon called Jurassic Quest that has dinosaurs.  Coincidentally, my card for today has dinosaurs too:

Polly and Trudy are hanging out together, aww.  I used the Sunday Stamps sketch:

And the Color Throwdown colors:

I used Azure Afternoon, Lemon Lime Twist, and Shaded Spruce for my colors, and once we get the living room painted that's more or less the colors of the downstairs part of our house.  Yes, my kitchen is a soft lime green with dark green accents; the living area will be pale blue with a darker blue accent wall.  I have splotches on all the walls to test out the colors, we're just waiting for me and the hubs to be healthy at the same time to start painting the living room.

That's it for me today, peeps.  I'm off to look at dinosaurs.  Cheers!

Pastelosaurus

Mornin' y'all!  I haven't been sleeping well and I woke up at 4-something today thinking it was past six and I was late.  No fun!  I may have eaten birthday cake Oreos for breakfast...yeah I shouldn't go shopping while tired.  (I also bought a ton of candy for Ryan's Easter basket, just in case the Easter Bunny needs some help.)

Anyway, it's been a minute since I played with Darling Dinos so we're due!

I couldn't resist another go at the Sunday Stamps sketch:

I don't know why but I just really love this one.  My color inspiration came from the Paper Players:

I immediately thought of the polka dot pattern in the Bright & Beautiful DSP Stack that has Fresh Freesia and Bubble Bath, and I went through my scraps to find a couple of other pastel patterns to go with it.  I think Lemon Lime Twist counts as a pastel, right?  Anyway, the triceratops in this stamp set is named Polly, and this T. Rex is Trudy.  I don't think the brontosaurus has a name yet.

That's it for now.  Daph and I are going to take a walk in the sunshine and then I'm going to try really hard not to take a nap.  Cheers!

Valentinosaurus

Hey y'all, welcome to Wednesday.  I like Wednesdays because Ryan has a STEM club thing after school so I get an extra hour kid-free : )  His birthday is in 10 days so I am still stitching feverishly on the duckling, we'll see if I get it done in time.

In the meantime, I have an adorable dinosaur Valentine to share!

Did I already have multiple dinosaur stamp sets before I bought this one?  Yep.  Was it on the tops of my wish list when I saw the spring mini catalog?  Also yep.  When it comes to stamps, I will pretty much always buy dinosaurs, patriotic stuff, anything oriental-inspired, and tea.  Probably some other stuff too.  And this is why my craft collection is so large and in charge. #CraftyDragon

Anyway, this card will, of course, go to my dino-loving pal Krissy, but first we have some challenges!  Let's start with the Sunday Stamps sketch:

The scalloped edges on the sketch reminded me immediately of the Stitched So Sweetly dies, which I love, so I started with that and build my card from there.  I knew I was doing the "I love you" sentiment for the Paper Players challenge:

And then we have two color challenges that are combining forces, Inkspirational:

And Color Hues:

And then happily for me, all of those challenges dovetail nicely with the Festive Friday inspo list:

Pink, red, glimmer paper, hearts, love sentiment, and a cute animal (dinosaurs are animals, right?).  I debated between doing sequins or the glimmer paper hearts for accents but I decided to err on the side of glitter.

Okay, as soon as I finish my tea (Ceylon orange pekoe today, one of my favorites), it's time to walk Daphne and then work on that stitching project.  Then spend some time in my craft room, because I left a card half-done yesterday.  Cheers!

T-Rrrific

Mornin' y'all!  I've got cinnamon rolls in the oven so I need to type fast : ) We had a good time yesterday doing the cog train up Pikes Peak and MAN, it was cold at the top!!  I need to get all the pictures off the big camera and our phones and see what we got photo-wise but we had such a fun time.  And we got several more inches of super fluffy snow at the house and today we're supposed to drive to Cripple Creek to see the ice castle there.  Birthday weekend continues!

On Friday (my actual birthday), I made a few cards and this is one of them:

I love the Darling Dinos bundle and it's perfect to make cards for my dino-loving pal, Krissy.  I started with the Color Hues Challenge:

I used Night of Navy, Lemon Lime Twist, and a bit of Granny Apple Green for shading.  Next up is the Atlantic Hearts sketch:

This one's a classic, love it.

Okay, time for me to scramble some eggs to go with the cinnamon rolls.  Cheers, y'all!

A Pink Prehistoric Pal

Happy Friday, y'all!  After a whole day of blizzardin' yesterday, Ryan has a two-hour delay for school this morning and he's going bonkers.  Looking forward to getting him to school so I can have a few hours of quiet : )  I have to drop him off at school, go to the grocery store, and then walk Daphne before I can relax for a bit though.  Daph didn't get go go for her walk yesterday as it was SO windy all day long, so she has cabin fever and is almost as obstreperous as Ryan at the moment.  Meanwhile I drank many cups of tea and enjoyed staying in the house while watching the blizzard outside.

Anyway, here's one of the cards I made yesterday and NEW SCHTUFF ALERT!

My pal Krissy looooooves dinosaurs and I send her cards all the time so of course I had to get Darling Dinos, and this is its maiden voyage.  I used this week's CASE-ing Tuesday sketch:

And the original card in the SAB catalog:

I looked at this and couldn't figure out what the tone-on-tone layer thing was about (you can see a faint line near the top of the card too) so I added some baker's twine instead of another layer on the bottom.

The fun colors are courtesy of the Creative Colour Challenge:

My baker's twine is technically Magenta Madness, but I thought it was close enough for what I was doing today.  And Polly's spots, horns, and toes are Flirty Flamingo with Wink of Stella glitter because that's how she rolls.

That's it for me today, peeps.  Cheers!
