Island Thoughts

Good EVENING, y'all!  Ryan had his first baseball game tonight and we really thought we were going to get rained out (the game prior to his did), but they did play a couple of innings.  Ryan got a good solid hit at one of his at bats, too.

But anyway, I wanted to get a quick little CAS card posted today so here it is:

My dad suggested I make a get-well card for a family friend who had surgery on her thumb for trigger finger, so here it is.  I started with the mood board from Inkspirational:

I was inspired by the colors (of course) and the big, bold flower in the middle.  Island Blossoms is an old favorite stamp set : )  Next up is the AAA Cards Challenge sketch:

The rainbow lines immediately made me think of the lines stamp from Dream Come True, which is another stamp set I've had for ages.  Then I just had to hunt up an appropriate greeting and pop on a few Glossy Dots, and now it's ready to mail tomorrow.

It's past 9pm which means I'm about to turn into a pumpkin.  Night, y'all!

Supplies, all SU!
Stamps:  Island Blossoms, Inspired Thoughts, Dream Come True
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black, Azure Afternoon, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive
Paper:  Summer Splash, Thick Basic White
Accessories:  Glossy Dots, Dimensionals

World's Fastest Flamingo

Mornin' y'all!  I know, another skipped Scrappy Monday.  I haven't worked on scrapbook pages in what feels like forever, I just haven't really been inspired to do it which is weird because I loooove scrapbooking.  Maybe soon.

So today's card comes with a story : )  Actual conversation at dinner last Friday:

Me (to hubs):  Adam (my brother) had surgery on his foot this week, I need to make him a card with a flamingo on it.
Ryan:  Why do you need to make a card with a flamingo on it?
Me:  Because they stand on one foot.
Ryan: ...Isn't that like you're making fun of him?
Me:  I'm his sister.  It's my job to make fun of him sometimes.

Ryan does not understand this concept because he's an only child.  But that's how I ended up with this card:

I have multiple flamingo stamps but I was looking for a large one standing on one foot, and Pop of Paradise delivered.  The greeting is from Inspired Thoughts; they're both retired and actually everything on this card is retired except the white and Azure Afternoon cardstock.  But it looks like we're getting Strawberry Slush back probably as an In Color in the next catalog so hurray for that : )

I'm entering this at As You See It:

I used the Taylored Tag punch for the sentiment and even though I had to stamp it three times because I kept getting it too heavy on the edges, I still finished this card in 6 minutes, 43 seconds.

That's it for now, peeps.  Daph is patiently waiting for me to eat breakfast so we can go tour the neighborhood and it looks like a beautiful day.  Cheers!

Healing Thoughts

Mornin' y'all.  We got back from our Austrian sledding adventure yesterday and...I was sick the whole time.  Actually all three of us are under the weather to one degree or another; at night in our hotel room we were a veritable three-part symphony of coughing, sneezing, and sniffling.  So I feel like I should be mailing today's card to my own house.

Here is the Paper Players' very timely challenge:

And this week's sketch from Global Design Project:

To keep it CAS, I used the Layering Circles dies to cut masks out of some scratch paper, and then used my blending brushes to make the three circles without adding any layers to my card.  I took my colors from the Sunday Stamps challenge:

I read the top three colors as Balmy Blue, Lost Lagoon, and Soft Sea Foam, so that's what I went with for my card.  And apparently Lost Lagoon is making a comeback starting in March.

Ryan is off school today but so far he's been content to play with some Legos he got for his birthday, so here's hoping I get to take it easy today.  Think it's time for another Ricola cough drop...

Supplies, all SU!

Inspired Heart

Mornin' y'all!  Having a good week so far?  Hope so!  I'm going to squeeze in just a bit of craft time before I leave for work today, but first, a quick blog post!

Inspired Thoughts was one of the new stamp sets on my shelf that hadn't gotten inked yet, so when I stamped my personal index sheet for it (I have binders with stamp set index sheets, organized generally by theme) I thought I'd make a card with it.  I used this week's Sunday Stamps sketch:

Congrats to them on their 300th challenge!  I busted out my very old Hearts Collection Framelits to match the sketch.  I paired that with the Festive Friday challenge:

I had to let ideas for this one percolate for a bit, but I happened to look through the Tea Boutique DSP Stack and found that pattern with the envelopes on it, and that gave me the direction for my card.  From the inspo list, I used red (Sweet Sorbet), envelopes, sequins, and heat embossing.  If you want to get technical, some of the flowers on the patterned paper are Orchid Oasis colored : )

Have a great day, y'all!  I have approximately 50 minutes in my craft room before time to leave for work...
