Cowboy Skelly

Mornin' y'all and happy Friday!  I am once again procrastinating about cleaning up stuff in the house...but yesterday, I did eventually get out and work on the garage.  It took me 3 1/2 hours, but I've got it all organized and I can park in there again, so I'm happy about that.  Now I just have to impose order on the giant mess that is my house...

But first, a card.  I actually made this one for the current SU! Only color challenge, but I wasn't 100% happy with it and so I made the card that I posted on Tuesday.  So here's today's card:

Nothing wrong with it, per se, but it just wasn't grabbing me and I do try to do my best work for design team stuff.  Don't forget to post your own card on the SUO Challenges blog!

Okay, okay, I've got to get off the computer and get to work on the house.  I hope to squeeze in some time to do a card this afternoon but I really do need to work first.  Cheers!

Supplies, all SU!
Stamps:  Bag of Bones
Ink:  Versamark, Gorgeous Grape
Paper:  Pumpkin Pie, Parakeet Party, Gorgeous Grape, Basic Black, Smoky Slate
Accessories:  White EP, Black EP, Bag of Bones dies, Stylish Shapes dies, Mini Dimensionals

Witchy Sisters

Mornin' y'all!  I must confess, I am 100% procrastinating.  All our stuff that was in storage for 3 years was delivered yesterday (well, almost, one box was missing but it's supposed to be here today) and ZOMG WHY DO WE HAVE SO MUCH STUFF.  It took me a couple of hours to organize all the books and with some creativity I managed to fit like six bookshelves' worth of books into two shelves; today I need to tackle the garage (again) because I would really like to be able to park my car inside.  I am procrastinating because I know it's going to be hot out there and I just don't wanna :p but no one else is going to do it, so I'm heading out after I write this post.  And once the garage is done, I have a lot of stuff strewn over the whole bottom floor of the house, so yeah, I'm going to be busy for a bit.

Anyway, I have THREE cards to share today!

Oh yes, we are back with the Sanderson sisters today.  Check out the Inkspirational challenge:

In addition to CAS, there's an optional twist of making a card inspired by a movie.  I already had the images and sentiments stamped out and die cut, I just hadn't made them up into cards, so of course I had to jump on this challenge : )

So there's Winifred Sanderson and a quote.  I saw a meme on Facebook that said this was the reaction every time it was a nice summery day because it's time for fall already, and yeah I feel that!  I almost forgot, I chose the patterned paper so that this would fit in the Global Design Project color challenge:

Supplies:
Stamps:  Full Moon by The Ink Road
Ink:  Pumpkin Pie, Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper:  Basic Black, Thick Basic White, Them Bones DSP
Accessories:  Nested Essentials dies, Dimensionals

And here's Sarah Sanderson, and I think that quote just gets even funnier if you don't know the context.  But I'll send this to one of my Hocus Pocus-loving friends so she'll understand the reference : )

Supplies:
Stamps:  Full Moon by The Ink Road
Ink:  Lemon Lolly, Starry Sky
Paper:  Starry Sky, Thick Basic White, Bright & Beautiful DSP Stack
Accessories:  Stylish Shapes dies, Nested Essentials dies, Dimensionals

And last up is Mary Sanderson, I was surprised that the Pumpkin Pie ink actually shows up over the Early Espresso ink I used for her hairdo.  I did stamp it two or three times but I didn't expect it to show up over the darker ink, so that's a happy surprise

Supplies:
Stamps:  Full Moon by The Ink Road
Ink:  Pumpkin Pie, Early Espresso
Paper:  Pumpkin Pie, Thick Basic White, Plaid Tidings DSP Stack
Accessories:  Stylish Shapes dies, Nested Essentials dies, Dimensionals

Okay, I'm off to tackle the garage.  Wish me luck!

Anniversary Toadstools

Mornin' y'all!  EARLY morning...I've got a busy day ahead so it's not even 6am as I type this.  So let's get started, here's today's card:

It is brought to you by the color green! : ) My favorite.  Check out the Paper Players sketch:

And the Just Add Ink inspiration challenge:

All those beautiful green tones made my little heart go pitter pat!  I pulled out Wildlife Wonder, but upon looking at the inspo pic again, I decided to ink up Ringed with Nature because I don't think I'd ever used the toadstool images before (I just tried to type toast instead of toadstool, ha!).  I decided to go with an anniversary sentiment on this because a.) it fit with the sketch and b.) the hubs and I will be celebrating our TWENTIETH wedding anniversary next month, and since his job requires him to be elsewhere I needed a card to send to him for it.

Okay, I'd better hop to it.  Cheers!

Supplies, all SU!
Stamps:  Ringed with Nature
Ink:  Early Espresso, Crumb Cake, Wild Wheat
Paper:  Garden Green, Early Espresso, Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla, A Walk in the Forest DSP
Accessories:  Dimensionals, Speckled Dots

Danse Macabre with SUO Challenges

Hey y'all, get ready for a new color challenge from SUO Challenges!

Aren't those colors great together?  Halloween is the obvious choice for using these colors, but that doesn't mean you *have* to make a Halloween card--check out the SUO Challenges blog to see what I mean.

I did make a Halloween card though, I love Halloween cards : )

I cut Deckled Rectangles of the three challenge colors and stamped tone-on-tone for all three, the top two with stamps from Bag of Bones and the bottom is Sketched Plaid.  For the Pumpkin Pie rectangle, I put all the assorted bone stamps on a block together and just stamped them all at once, easy peasy.  One dancing skeleton later, I had a card!

I hope you will be inspired to play along with these colors, I can't wait to see what you create!  Don't forget to link up at the SUO Challenges blog, and have fun!

Supplies, all SU!
Stamps:  Bag of Bones, Sketched Plaid
Ink:  Gorgeous Grape, Pumpkin Pie, Parakeet Party, VersaMark
Paper:  Basic Black, Gorgeous Grape, Pumpkin Pie, Parakeet Party
Accessories:  Deckled Rectangles dies, Deckled Circles dies, white EP, Dimensionals, Matte Dots

Maine: Feeding the Animals

Scrappy Monday, y'all!  I'm back with more Maine pictures.

After exploring the corn maze, we all had a picnic lunch of PBJs (still Ryan's favorite) and then we got to go on a tractor ride and feed the animals.  As we were still at Homewood Farm, I kept the same Pacific Point page base and the corn-inspired patterned paper.

Same color palette as last time:  Pacific Point, Crushed Curry, Peach Parfait, Poppy Parade, Cucumber Crush, Soft Suede, and Very Vanilla.

Busy week ahead, starting with picture day for Ryan today.  As expected, he's chosen a red Spider-Man shirt to wear.  : )  Have a great day, y'all!

Supplies, all SU!
Stamps:  Make a Difference, Rough Edges Alphabet, Perfectly Preserved, Jack of All Trades
Ink:  Crushed Curry, Cucumber Crush, Peekaboo Peach, Poppy Parade, Soft Suede, Early Espresso marker

Halloween Bats

Happy Saturday, y'all!  I've got two more cards that I want to share today : )

You didn't think I'd miss out on my weekly mashup of Freshly Made Sketches and Color Throwdown, did you?  Here's the sketch:

And the Color Throwdown:

I used Pumpkin Pie, Night of Navy, Crushed Curry, and Pool Party for the colors, and went pretty CAS with the sketch.  I love Spooky Sweets from 2018 and I usually manage to pull it out at least once every year for spooky season.

Bonus card today:

Ryan was invited to a birthday party that's happening this afternoon for a girl in his class; the invitation had a unicorn on it in pretty pastel colors so we started with that as our inspiration.  Ryan chose the patterned paper and did the stamping and coloring on the unicorn; I did the sentiment because it was three separate pieces, and he did the die cutting.  So now we're ready for the party this afternoon.

Cheers, y'all!

Supplies, first card:
Stamps:  Spooky Sweets
Ink:  Pool Party, Night of Navy, Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie

My Paper Pumpkin

Happy Friday!  I have five minutes before it's time to get Ryan out the door for school, so I'll try to get this post written quickly : )

Hold onto your hats, folks, I actually busted open a Paper Pumpkin kit and--gasp!--used some of the pieces.  (I have a very bad habit of buying the kits and then...never doing anything with them.)  So here is today's card:

I used this week's sketch from Try Stampin' on Tuesday:

I have lots and lots of older stamps I could have used for this card and I was all set to do just that until I saw the challenge from Hand Stamped Sentiments:

The colors and textures in the inspo photo are a pretty good match for the most recent Paper Pumpkin kit, which I just got in the mail this week.  And this Paper Pumpkin kit includes literal paper pumpkins : )  The linen pattern in the background was part of a box I think; the leafy pattern was the liner in the envelopes that came in the kit, and the Lost Lagoon pattern was cut from a 3x3 card.  A pre-printed paper pumpkin and leaf, a few speckled dots, and one stamped sentiment and there's my card.  I think this took all of ten minutes to put together.

Okay, Ryan is putting on his shoes so we're out the door momentarily.  Have a great day, y'all!

Supplies, all SU!
Stamps:  My Paper Pumpkin September 2023 kit
Ink:  Mossy Meadow
Paper:  Crumb Cake, papers from the kit

Challenge Redux

Okay, most of the time I don't go back and re-do challenges because there's so many out there and I want to play along in most of them, but I had such a good time making my Silver Fox card that I just had to have another go at those two challenges.  So here it is:

I pulled out some retired stamps for this one.  First up is the Inkspirational mood board:

And then the Cupcake Inspirations challenge:

The combination of orange and deep pink plus the idea of plaid made me think of the Plaid Tidings stack so I just had to do another card with it.  I loved that paper so much I bought an extra stack, I do love me a good plaid!  I stamped two large leaves from Wonderfall and cut them out, and then found a wee sentiment from the very, very old All Year Cheer I and there's another card done.

Okay, I'm off to wash Ryan's taekwondo uniform, he managed to get Taco Bell all over himself on Tuesday and you know what doesn't come out of WHITE pants?  Wish me luck.  Cheers!

Supplies, all SU! (some retired)
Stamps:  Wonderfall, All Year Cheer I
Ink:  Mango Melody, Melon Mambo, Rich Razzleberry

The Sanderson Sisters

Y'all.

Y'ALL.

I have Hocus Pocus stamps!

I've been looking for an excuse to ink these stamps up!  The three silhouettes are actually one stamp, but I cut them apart so I can easily ink them up in the Sanderson sisters' respective hair colors.  There's lots of fun movie quotes in the set too and yeah I'm going to be playing with this more : )  So fun.  I have several friends who adore this movie so yeah I need more Hocus Pocus cards.  This one will be going to my friend Sarah.

Thank you CAS Colours & Sketches for giving me an excuse to make this card:

Really it was an accident that I used circles instead of squares on my card, I just forgot it was squares on the original sketch.  Next time I make a Hocus Pocus card, I'm going to have to use the stamp about how it's a full moon and all the weirdos are out, it makes me giggle : )

BRB, I think I need to go watch a movie real quick...

Supplies:
Stamps:  Full Moon by The Ink Road
Ink:  Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Early Espresso, Gorgeous Grape
Paper:  Parakeet Party, Thick Basic White, Gorgeous Grape DSP

Silver Fox

Mornin' y'all!  I'm missing last week's rainy days, we're back up in the 90s this week and I'm just ready for fall to get here already.  But I can have a rainy day in my craft room anytime, and that's what I did yesterday.

I took four pictures of this card in various lighting situations, and this was the best I could get.  I was intrigued by the mood board challenge at Inkspirational:

So. Cool.  I decided to pull the colors and went with Pool Party, Berry Burst, Smoky Slate, and Pumpkin Pie.  I was going to color the fox in with Pumpkin Pie and then decided to make him gray instead, I like it.  And then I needed more Pumpkin Pie accents, so I used my dark Blend to color in some clear rhinestones to use on my card.

I also had to play along with the Cupcake Inspirations challenge:

I always love me a good plaid, and this was just the excuse I needed to use my new Sketched Plaid background stamp.  Actually it took me like five tries to get a look I liked; I tried it in Pool Party ink, and then Smoky Slate ink, then I settled on white but it still took me two tries to get the raindrops to look right.  I added some Wink of Stella to Mr. Fox's umbrella but it doesn't show in any of the pictures so you'll just have to take my word for it.

I think today I might have to do some scrapping...though I'm not sure if I'm brave enough to start my big project.  The hubs and I have our twentieth wedding anniversary coming up next month, and guess who has NOT made a scrapbook from our wedding?  I thought that would be a great surprise for when my hubs can rejoin us (he's deployed) but I definitely have pre-project paralysis happening.  Wish me luck.

Cheers!

Maine: Corn Maze

Scrappy Monday, y'all!  Hope your week is off to a good start.  I'm starting with another Maine scrapbook layout : )

So next up on our Maine adventure, we went to a place called Homewood Farm, where the boys had a great time running around in a (rather muddy) corn maze.  It was a little drizzly that morning, so we had the place to ourselves.  The boys particularly liked getting their hands stamped at various stations in the corn maze (and also getting muddy, because boys).

I knew I wanted to use this particular corn-y patterned paper, so I chose a Pacific Point page base to set off the yellows and oranges in the DSP.  So today's color palette is Pacific Point, Crushed Curry, Peach Parfait, and touches of Poppy Parade, Cucumber Crush, Soft Suede, and Very Vanilla.  I've done similar things on fall pages before, where I used a blue page base to make the warm colors pop.  I think it works, and in this case, the blue ties in to Ryan's blue jacked in the pictures.

Okay, it's just about time to get Ryan off to school.  Cheers!

I Gotta Crow

Happy Friday, y'all!  Today Ryan got to have breakfast with his grandparents at school for Grandparents Day...but they had sausage, egg, and cheese burritos and he didn't like that, so he cried.  They got him to drink some orange juice but he was an unhappy little dude, so I'm going to be Nice Mama tonight and make him pancakes for dinner.  That's his favorite breakfast, even if it's not mine, but hopefully that will make up for breakfast burritos.  Ha!

Oh yeah, I said it was a cloudy, dark day yesterday?  Ended up being even darker than expected--we had a power outage for an hour or two yesterday morning, including Ryan's school.  He thought that was fun, but I suppose when you're a kid, anything that changes up the normal school routine is fun.  Happily the power wasn't out long enough to ruin the stuff in the fridge and we were back up and running by lunchtime.

Anywah, card!

I know I did a judgy chicken card for last Friday's post, but c'mon, these chickens are awesome.  (...awesomely JUDGY!)  And I couldn't resist when I saw the Card Concept challenge:

Of course I was inspired by the chicken on the wreath, and I used the colors Poppy Parade, black (just for stamping the chicken), Crushed Curry, and Pretty Peacock.  I used some blue gems that came out a couple of years ago, they're kind of an iridescent peacock-adjacent color, they reflected the light when I took the picture.  And the DSP is last year's color family paper, which is my all-time favorite.  Anyway, my card is in the clean and layered style thanks to the Try Stampin' on Tuesday sketch:

Fun sketch, lots of scope for imagination as Anne Shirley would say.  I had fun putting this card together.

Have a great weekend, chicks!

Hello Fall

Hey y'all, how's it going?  It's a cloudy, dark day over here and I'm channeling Morticia Addams and absolutely loving it.  Fall is coming!

It arrived in my craft room on September 1 : )  And I have another fall card today!

I didn't buy this year's leaf stamp set (or last year's, even), so I pulled out Gorgeous Leaves from 2021 to play with, it is one of my favorite ever leaf stamps.  Check out this week's Color Throwdown:

I used Boho Blue, Night of Navy, and Crushed Curry for my colors.  The Boho Blue card base is coming across as more gray than it really is, but I promise it's blue.  And here is this week's Freshly Made Sketch:

I immediately thought snowman when I saw the sketch, but I really really wanted to stick with fall so I could play along with the irresistible Retro Rubber Challenge:

Fall is by far my favorite season so of course I have to participate in this challenge!  As I said before, Gorgeous Leaves is two years old, but I went extra super retro for the sentiment, Four You is at least 10 years old.

That's it for me today, y'all.  Not sure if I'm going to go up to my craft room, or watch another episode of Smallville before I take my car in for an appointment later this morning.  Either way it'll be fun!

Supplies, all SU! (some retired)
Stamps:  Gorgeous Leaves, Four You

Studious Bird

Mornin', y'all!  I am very excited that Texas is finally starting to get with the fall program, the high temps have been below 90 for the past couple of days and I am Here For It.  I got a new electric kettle and I have been using it every day since the beginning of September to make tea : )  I do love a cuppa every day.  Okay, multiple cuppas.

Anyway.  Card!

I do so love the Bird's Eye View stamp set :)  Check out the sketch from Inspire. Create.:

I copied down the sketch in a notebook and took it upstairs to my craft room, so my proportions and placement are a bit off from the original sketch.

And here is the color challenge from the Paper Players:

And this was definitely a challenge!  I didn't add any colors unless you count white, or a teensy bit of Crumb Cake with the embellishments.  I don't have the Blends for the In Colors yet (well, I think I have Boho Blue, but none of the other ones), so I inked up the stamps with Versamark and Pebbled Path, then heat embossed with clear EP so I could watercolor.  Wild Wheat (Barley Barf) will never be my favorite color, but I like it okay with the other colors in this palette.  Have to say I love Pretty Peacock and Copper Clay together.  Anyway, I'll have to pick up the Blends for the other In Colors next time I do an SU! order, but for now, watercoloring works.  And I think Bird's Eye View might be my go-to stamp set for when I don't know what to do with a particular color combination, I can see them working for just about anything!

Have a great day, peeps.  I need to get this week's batch of cards ready to go out in the mail, and make some more : )  Cheers!

SUO Challenges: Silhouettes

Goooooood morning stampy friends!  Get ready for a new challenge from SUO Challenges!

So we're all about silhouettes this time.  I saw some beautiful cards by Helen Read earlier this year using this technique and I suggested it for a challenge.  So you stamp an image and use a dark marker to color in the image to get a silhouette for a different look on line art images.  I had to give it a try with the moths from Night of Flight, so here's my card:

For the background, I sponged Mossy Meadow and Moody Mauve ink onto an acrylic block, spritzed it with water, and then stamped that on some watercolor paper.  I had to spritz more water and stamp again actually as the colors didn't blend together enough the first time, and then I used my heat tool to dry it because I'm impatient ; )  Then I stamped the moths with Pretty Peacock ink and colored them in with the darker Pretty Peacock Stampin' Blend.  I like that you can still see a little bit of the detail on the wings but it's very subtle.  I left the moths' bodies uncolored just because I liked the look.

At first I had stamped the greeting on the Pretty Peacock circle and heat embossed with some truly ancient copper embossing powder (like for reals, I bought it the first time Stampin' Up! had copper embossing powder, I'm pretty sure it's over 10 years old), but I tried taking pictures of this card several times, in several places, on different days, and I just couldn't get the greeting to show up in pictures.  So I stamped it on Very Vanilla and glued it on top of the other circle and I like it better now.  The copper cord *is* from SU!, but like the embossing powder, it is quite old.  One year in a holiday mini catalog, they had non-stretchy cord in gold, silver, and copper; I bought them all and I still have them.  Couldn't resist getting it out to coordinate with the All About Autumn DSP Stack.

I hope you'll give silhouette stamping a try and share with us on the SUO Challenges blog.  Have fun getting inky!

Supplies, all SU!
Stamps:  Night of Flight, Nature's Prints
Ink:  Moody Mauve, Mossy Meadow, Pretty Peacock
Paper:  Moody Mauve, Pretty Peacock, Thick Very Vanilla, watercolor paper, All About Autumn DSP Stack
Accessories:  Deckled Circles dies, copper cord, Dimensionals

Side note, check out the sunrise rainbow we had here yesterday!

A few minutes before I took this picture, I looked out side and the entire sky was PINK with the sun coming up.  Not just a little bit either, everything was pretty much Barbie pink.  Then I went outside to take the trash out and saw this beautiful rainbow!  Had to get Ryan to come out and look too, and I'm glad I did because when we left the house a few minutes later to take him to school, the rainbow was gone.  Beautiful start to the week!

Maine: Acadia National Park

Scrappy Monday, y'all!  And it looks like it's going to be a rainy Monday, too, which is all to the good if you ask me--the high temperature today is 88 degrees, the first time it's been under 90 in I don't know how long!

So anyway, I'm continuing the Maine adventure for today's scrapbook pages.  Take a look:

I love that Beauty of the Earth DSP, I had to buy another pack of it when it hit the clearance rack as I had used up almost all of the first pack.  (I am a DSP dragon, my hoard is vast!)  When I make a theme album or a series of pages that all go together, I like to use the same alphabet stamps for page titles, and sometimes I use the same DSP pack so the pages feel like they fit together.  I used the Beauty of the Earth DSP and the Make a Difference alphabet on the title page of the album and again on the two layouts today.

I also worked hard to squeeze in as many pictures as I could on my pages, and even cramming in the max number I had a hard time narrowing down my choices.  On our first full day in Maine, we went to Acadia National Park and just had a great time walking around on all the trails, letting the boys run around and enjoying a spectacular fall day.  This was such a great trip.

Today's fall palette is, once again, taken straight from the DSP:  Bumblebee, Cajun Craze, Merry Merlot, Misty Moonlight, Mossy Meadow, Early Espresso, and Whisper White.

Have a great day, y'all.

Autumn Leaf

Hey y'all, how's your Saturday going?  As I mentioned yesterday, I made another card with this week's Color Throwdown colors, so here it is.

Almost everything I used on this card is retired, from the stamps (Gorgeous Leaves and Lighthearted Leaves), to the color Merry Merlot.  I recently saw a beautiful card by Helen Read (it's the one on the right in the pic with three cards) and I just had to CASE it.  Thanks for the inspiration, Helen!

I had all these intentions of cleaning the house a bit this morning, but...I don't wanna.  Might go up in my craft room instead, Ryan is up there playing with Legos so then I can just spend time in his vicinity while we both do something fun.  Cheers!

Supplies, all SU! (many retired)
Stamps:  Gorgeous Leaves, Lighthearted Leaves
Ink:  Merry Merlot, Real Red, Pumpkin Pie
Paper:  Thick Very Vanilla, Merry Merlot DSP, Gold foil

Rise & Shine!

Happy Friday, y'all!  I'm hoping I get to sleep in tomorrow...seems like all week I've been waking up around 4:30 in the morning and not been able to get back to sleep.  Um, I need that extra hour!  I feel like 5:30 is quite early enough to be getting up, thankyouverymuch.  And today's card features a couple of rather judgy chickens.

I'll rise, but I won't shine : p  Chickens always make me think of my great-grandmother's house.  She didn't have chickens, but her next-door neighbors did, so chickens are forever linked in my mind to Mimi's house.  Check out this week's Freshly Made Sketch:

And the Color Throwdown:

I used Pumpkin Pie, Real Red, and Cherry Cobbler, and at the last minute remembered to toss a couple of gold sequins on my card front.

Confession time:  I loved the sketch and the colors, but it took me AGES to figure out how to combine them this week!  I actually made a completely different card first, using the colors but not the sketch; I may post that one tomorrow.  I went through my current stamps a couple of times and nothing was coming to me...I kept thinking leaves but I don't have any current fall leaf sets, and I kinda wanted to use newer stamps.  Then I finally noticed Hey Chuck, which hadn't even been inked up yet, and then this card happened pretty fast--turns out those bright fall colors are also great for judgy chickens!

That's it for me today, peeps.  Have a good Friday!

Supplies, all SU!
Stamps:  Hey Chuck
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black, Stampin' Blends in Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Cherry Cobbler, Pecan Pie
Paper:  Real Red, Cherry Cobbler, Pumpkin Pie, Thick Basic White, Pumpkin Pie DSP
