Chasing Rainbows

Mornin' y'all!  I'm going to type fast so I can finish this before it's time to take Ryan to farm camp.  So, behold!

CAS on Friday wants to see rainbow cards, and I paired that with the AAA Cards Challenge sketch:

I remembered I had several DSP rainbows and clouds already cut from the Sunshine & Rainbows DSP Stack so combining these two challenges was easy peasy.  And then, even though I'm playing in two clean and simple challenges, I couldn't resist adding some sequins:

And now I have just a few pictures from our trip last week, starting with this black bear:

She hustled her two cubs across the street and up into the trees so fast that this was the best picture I got.  So last Wednesday morning, we got up early and headed back to the north side of the park and then crossed into Montana...

And we went horseback riding!  Ryan was kinda nervous when he got up on his horse so he asked for a helmet.

Ryan is on Rimrock, the hubs is on Tabletop.  And my horse was probably at least a hand taller than either of theirs, I have no idea how they assigned the horses.

My horse, Anchor, is a Quarter Horse - Clydesdale cross who liked to try to snack on the grass as we went and would kinda give a big sigh every time we started moving.  The countryside was GORGEOUS and we saw a small herd of female elk while we were out.  Hard to take pictures while on horseback though.

And here's Ryan at the end of the ride, he said he had a good time and wants to do this again.  Yesss!

After our ride, we walked down to another paddock and got to meet this mama and her two-week-old baby.  She's a Belgian (a draft horse, but smaller than like the Budweiser Clydesdales) and her baby is another Quarter Horse cross.

I think she also does horsey shampoo commercials.

After the ride, we had some time to explore the small town of Gardiner a bit (we bought souvenirs), and then we went for a two-hour float down the river.

Don't ask me the name of the river, I don't remember.

Ryan really wanted this to be a white water rafting thing, but we had a little 3-year-old girl in the front and we didn't want to scare her, so mostly we just floated.  Plus, since this was our first time doing anything of this nature, I wanted to start on the easy level ; ) and I tend to get motion sick on boats, so I was happy with a tame float.  My kid is an adrenaline junkie though.

And after we got back, we got ice cream.  Because we were on vacation.  Cheers!

Array of Happiness

Mornin' y'all, and happy Friday!  I was cruising through my stamp collection earlier this week while I was working on a card, and a stamp set caught my eye so I had to make a card with it to share today.

Those fun flowers are from Array of Sunshine, a lovely image-only set of bold flowers, and the greeting is from Rainbow of Happiness.  I just had to have another go at the As You See It sketch:

But I didn't stick quite as closely to the sketch this time as I did with the Wonderful Wings quartet, I was just having some fun with it.  And finally I managed to use the correct colors for the Cupcake Inspirations color challenge:

Well, kinda close anyway.  I used Magenta Madness because I love it, Granny Apple Green because I thought it looked good with Magenta Madness, and Pecan Pie because I wasn't thinking quite as dark a brown as in the picture and I should have gone with Chocolate Chip or Early Espresso but this was the challenge I was thinking of when I chose my colors.

Happy Little Rainbow

Hey y'all, how's your Wednesday starting off?  I spent some time yesterday organizing our storage closet (for the third time!) and today's plans include grocery shopping and organizing my personal cookbooks.  I have two giant binders of recipes; ones I've used and liked, I type up on the computer, print them out, and put them in plastic page protectors in the binders.  I tend to make a mess when I cook, so the page protectors keep the recipes clean : )  And then any recipes that I find on the internet that I want to try, I print them out and put them in the appropriate section of the binders so I can find all the chicken recipes in one place.  But I have a giant stack of recipes to try that I haven't put in the cookbooks yet.

Anyway, enough yapping about my cookbooks.  I have a card to share today!

A couple of months ago, I joined a group on Facebook for buying and selling retired Stampin' Up! products, thinking that I would thin out some things that I just don't use...but really all I've done so far is buy several stamp sets ; )  Rainbow of Happiness was the first thing to come to mind when I saw the Paper Players color challenge:

I used Gray Granite for the greeting stamp on my rainbow and otherwise kept strictly to the challenge colors.  I thought that Stitched So Sweetly die shape was perfect with the rainbow, so I floated that on some stitched rectangles but the card still needed something.  Happily I found some Lemon Lolly baker's twine in my stash, which was just the touch this card needed.

When I was little (like under the age of 7), my bedroom was painted yellow very similar to Lemon Lolly, and I had an accent wall done with rainbow wallpaper, so this card reminds me of that bedroom.  It's already out in the mail to my parents.  Adult me absolutely loathes wallpaper though so good thing there isn't any in our house or I'd be stripping it off post haste.  Still want to paint everything though.
