Pumpkin Patch

Mornin' y'all!  It's been busy already...hubs is home sick today with a very bad cold, but I got the kiddo off to school and then went to the store so I could buy potatoes (and somehow a bunch of other things) and then I put a roast (with the potatoes) into the crock pot for dinner.  And did the dishes.  Oh, I need to switch out my laundry.  Lots to do today.

Anyway, the title of this post did not deceive you, I have a pumpkin card to share today:

And I made this for the Retro Rubber Challenge:

I did both diagonals and the bottom row, I have purple - your choice (paisley) - squares - gems/pearls - die cut - pumpkin.  Pick of the Patch (greeting) is about two and a half years old, and I think I got Paisley Prints that year I was in Texas with Ryan so it should be about the same age.  We've moved around so much for the past 22 years that I will associate a lot of crafty supplies with where we lived when I bought them, so those are both Texas sets.  Anyway, I've never used Paisley Prints before and it's SO CUTE so I'm glad I had this excuse to ink it up.

It was the squares option on this tic-tac-toe (I just tried to call it a tic-taco, ha) that made me decide to tackle this week's Atlantic Hearts sketch:

Not gonna lie, I was all set to skip it but I really liked what Tracy did with the sketch so I decided to be brave and give it a shot.  And then it ended up being not too bad thanks to my square dies, *and* I used up some leetle scraps of Soft Sky DSP.  Also I really liked the combination of Concord Crush and Peach Pie from this card, so I went with those and swapped the Basic Beige for Soft Sky.  Who cares if February isn't pumpkin season?  Ryan's birthday is on Sunday and he's already requested I make an extra large pumpkin coffee cake for breakfast that day.

Aww, I'm out of tea.  Guess I'd better go take Daphne for a walk and then work on more laundry.  Cheers!

An Apple a Day

Mornin' y'all!  Daphne is ensconced on the oversize chair near me where she can look out the window and she just looks so comfy and content : )  And cute, of course.  Pretty soon she'll start poking at me to take her for a walk so I'm going to enjoy the tranquillity while it lasts.

I did a whole lot of apple cards in September but that didn't stop me from making one more yesterday.

Give Thanks is a sweet little stamp set from many moons ago and I love it.  This year I have embraced using more of my retired stamps and other supplies instead of feeling like I *have* to have all the new things that come out.  Anyway, I used a stamp with multiple leaves on it to stamp the Cherry Cobbler cardstock strip but it's not showing up that well on the photo.  Just gives an extra bit of texture.

Thought I'd have another go at the As You See It theme, I had done a pumpkin card already so we had to do apples so I can represent the top two Thanksgiving pies in our house : )

I stamped the main image and the greeting in Secret Sea and I discovered while coloring the image that I need to replace my Pool Party Blends.  I also need to replace the Soft Sea Foam Blends and I just recently got new sets for Mossy Meadow and Shaded Spruce.  Bit annoying, that.

Anyway, I did five loads of laundry yesterday but I need to do at least one more today.  I have a few more things to do but the first on the list is taking our sweet Daphne out for her walk.  Cheers!

Pastel Pumpkins

Afternoon, y'all!  I am slowly starting to get back in the swing of things:  I've taken Daphne for her walk every day this week (which is currently the only exercise I can do, no core activation for a while yet which leaves out pretty much...everything), I've made a couple of cards for future DT commitments so I can be ready ahead of time, and this morning I made one for a couple of new challenges!  Here it is:

I think Pick of the Patch might be my favorite pumpkin-centric stamp set, unless it's my very old favorite Carved & Candlelit.  Anyway, I had to make a pair of pastel pumpkins for the Inspired By... challenge:

Which I paired with the hot-off-the-presses Festive Friday challenge:

I used cream (Very Vanilla cardstock), sequins, heat embossing, and clean & simple for my card, and a whole lotta Petal Pink which is not a color I tend to gravitate towards.  It's hard to tell in my photo, but the polka dots on the larger pumpkin, the sentiment, and the sequins are all gold, I've been having trouble getting good photos lately.  The little pumpkin is stamped in Peach Pie, but to soften the colors of all my stamping I inked up the stamps and then used sponges to lift some of the ink before I stamped on my cardstock.  Also a trick I use when an ink pad is extra super juicy.

Ludwigsburg Pumpkin Festival

Scrappy Monday, y'all! And I love the pages I have to share today, take a look:

Shortly after we moved to Germany (as in, I think we were still in quarantine), I saw a video posted in my giant nerd group on Facebook about the largest pumpkin festival in the world, which is held in Germany.  So of course I had to look it up and it was I think about a 3-hour drive to Ludwigsburg, so we went.  It was a bit of a pain with all the Covid restrictions and we only did it one time (2020) but I'm glad we went.

We got to see some really cool carved pumpkins, some really really HUGE pumpkins, examples of different types of pumpkins (including one that looks pretty Goth to me), "sculptures" made out of pumpkins, and of course we sampled several pumpkin goodies.  The hubs was Not A Fan of a bratwurst that had pumpkin seeds in it (the crunch was weird, he said sausages shouldn't crunch like that) but we all liked the pumpkin waffles.  So yeah, it was a pretty fun time even if we did get rained on and the adults had to wear masks.

I pulled my favorite pattern from the Painted Autumn DSP (seriously, why did I only get one pack of this?), used Soft Sky for the page bases, and then mixed up different shades of orange for photo mats and accents.  And I totally adore my Pick of the Patch pumpkins on these pages too.

There's the color palette:  Soft Sky, Peach Parfait, Pumpkin Pie, Cajun Craze, Garden Green, Pecan Pie, and Very Vanilla.  Love it!

Ryan only has school for four days this week and then he has TWO WEEKS off for fall break and this is why they start at the beginning of August.  So anyway, I'm going to have to look for pumpkin patches or apple orchards or something like that for us to do during his fall break.  Cheers, y'all!

It's Pumpkin Time!

Happy Pre-October, y'all!  Usually I make a pumpkin coffee cake for the first Sunday breakfast in September, but the hubs spotted some cinnamon rolls in the fridge and asked for those instead and since he's got an unending nasty headache while we await his surgery date, he gets what he wants.

I did get some time this afternoon to play in my craft room and I couldn't let today go by without posting something pumpkin-related.  You should see my outfit, too--I'm Halloween Stitch from head to toe (Stitch from Lilo & Stitch) because I found some Halloween pajama pants at Walmart last week.  I already had the shirt and the socks : )

Anyway, card!

I absolutely adore Pick of the Patch from last year's fall offerings so I had to get it out for the first day of pumpkin season.  I took a few liberties with the Just Add Ink sketch but I promise that's what I started with:

And there's a lovely fall palette at Sunday Stamps:

I used Balmy Blue, Lemon Lolly, Peach Pie, Pumpkin Pie, and Cajun Craze, and added a bit of Pecan Pie for a neutral.

Last up is the theme challenge from Retro Rubber Challenges:

I think a trip to the pumpkin patch falls under the category of the great outdoors, right?  (My idea of camping is a cabin that has indoor plumbing, no tents for me thanks!)  Pick of the Patch is a year old so it's just now entered its retro era.

When Ryan finishes the art he's working on, I think I'll see if he wants to watch a movie with me.  I've been battling a cold all week so sitting on the couch for a bit sounds like a good plan to me.  Cheers!

Just One More Pumpkin Card

Mornin', y'all!  Can you believe that today is the last day of November??? I feel like I just got used to writing 2023 and pretty soon it'll be 2024 already.  Which is good, really, because January first means we'll be halfway through the hubs' deployment.

Anyway, I mightily resist doing Christmas cards before Thanksgiving, and since today is the last day of November I just had to do one more pumpkin card.

I decided to go with all retired colors today and used my all-time fave Baja Breeze with Mellow Moss and Peekaboo Peach, which honestly came out a bit darker than I expected so maybe I should have used Petal Pink instead.  Anyway, I had scraps of patterned paper in both Mellow Moss and Baja Breeze, so I punched out a bunch of circles and stuck them down higgledy-piggledy before adding the pumpkins and leaves on top.  And now I suppose it's time to transition from fall cards to winter and Christmas *slightly grumpy* I do have several Christmas stamp sets that I'm looking forward to playing with though.

Cutie Pie Pumpkin

Hey y'all, how's your weekend going?  I am picking up my kiddo in about two hours, he spent the weekend with his grandparents.  Too bad I spent the weekend not feeling well : p  But anyway, I have a bonus card to share today!

When I made my first card for the Color Throwdown earlier this week, I ended up with three short little strips of the Soft Succulent patterned paper, so I decided to use them immediately and made a quick card in the same colors.  Here's the Color Throwdown graphic:

I worked on some scrapbook pages yesterday and used Pick of the Patch on those, too.  Now I'm just wondering why it took me so long to get this stamp set, I love it.

Mornin' y'all, how are you this Friday?  I am apparently trying to come down with something so I think I'll be taking it easy today as much as I can...and I'm glad that Ryan is going to his grandparents' house for the weekend so I can rest!

Yep, another Pick of the Patch card!  I'm in love with these guys and I'm glad I finally caved and bought them.  Check out the awesome color palette from Sunday Stamps:

I used all of the colors!  I chose Cajun Craze, Peach Parfait, Pool Party, Bermuda Bay, and Pretty Peacock for my SU! colors.  The patterned paper on the bottom of the card and the Pretty Peacock strip were both scraps, always nice to use up scraps.  And here is the awesome Try Stampin' on Tuesday sketch:

This is a great one!  I had this idea percolating in my brain even before I made yesterday's Pick of the Patch card.  I am definitely having fun with that stamp set.

Stacking Squash

Mornin' y'all and happy Friday!  I'm happy that today is yoga day at the Y (I do yoga there on Mondays and Fridays) and I'm hoping to get some quality craft room time today while the kiddo is at school.  I did get to make a second card yesterday with some brand-new goodies, take a peek:

Yes, I caved, I bought the Pick of the Patch bundle when I kept telling myself I didn't need it because I have the Pick a Pumpkin bundle from a few years ago and how many pumpkin stamps do I really need (see also:  Jack of All Trades and my OG favorite Carved & Candlelit) but I just kept seeing so many stinkin' CUUUUTE cards that other stampers were making and before I knew it I had submitted an order for it (and maybe one or two other things).  But I had great fun yesterday making my stack of pumpkins with a side of squash, and I got all of those color variations by stamping multiple times.  The largest pumpkin on the left I stamped just once, the darkest one I stamped 4 or 5 times, and the other two were in between.

I used Peekaboo Peach, Soft Sky, Crumb Cake, and Very Vanilla for my colors.  So I mixed brand-new stamps with a couple of old retired colors, but I can do that because it's my party and I'll cry if I want to it's my blog and no one I send cards to knows or cares if my supplies are retired.  Might as well use whatever I want!
