Magical Duo

Mornin' y'all!  It's the next to last day of school here so I'd better make good use of my time, right?  So why am I scrolling eBay looking for more Nancy Drew books??  Daphne says she wants to go for a walk, but I told her I needed to write this blog post first.  And today I have a pair of cards to share.

I used the colors in the Color Dare Challenge:

I used Lemon Lime Twist, Flirty Flamingo, and Peach Pie for the colors.  I like the sponged background layer but I'm less pleased with how the coloring turned out on my pegasus--I tried watercolor pencils and the Memento ink kinda muddied the colors a bit, so I added some ink on top and I'm just not sure about it.  Anyway, this is yet another try at the Paper Players challenge:

For some reason I've had trouble keeping my cards more CAS this time around.  I did make another flying card and here it is:

I used another Color Dare challenge for this one:

But I'm not sure it counts since I used two different oranges for my dragon.  The colors I used are Summer Splash, Timid Tiger, and Peach Pie.

Okay, I'm off to take Daphne for her walk, and then I want to get some things done in my craft room.  Cheers, y'all!

Mermaid Magic

Well, yesterday did not go to plan...I got up early and did my workout as per usual, and just as I was getting in the shower Ryan ran past me to the toilet and threw up.  So he stayed home from school yesterday and I didn't get anything done, except for making one card while he was mostly parked on the couch watching Ladybug & Cat Noir.  So here's my card for today:

I saw this challenge from Cupcake Inspirations, and it reminded me of some Sweet November stamps that I've had in my stash for *years* so that's where the mermaid and seahorse are from.  They're actually a single (very large) stamp.  So here's the cupcake challenge:

And I loved the colors from Sunday Stamps to go with:

I used Magenta Madness, Starry Sky, Lemon Lolly, and Smoky Slate for my colors.  I would have gone with Berry Burst, but I don't have the Blends in that color yet (they're on the way), so I used the pinker Magenta Madness instead.  I actually had to color the mermaid twice...the first time, I made the starfish in her hair Starry Sky, and they just blended in too much.  The Lemon Lolly starfish look much better.

I CASEd the card layout from Amy Koenders.  I love her card, and that DSP she used is also on its way to me right now : )

Okay, so I really should try to get some things done today.  Wish me luck!

Supplies:
Stamps:  Sweet November mermaid & seahorse, Pure Magic
Ink:  Starry Sky, Memento Tuxedo Black, Stampin' Blends in Smoky Slate, Basic Black, Lemon Lolly, Starry Sky, Magenta Madness, Petal Pink

SUO Challenges: Monochrome

Hey you guuuuuyyys!  Are you ready for a new challenge from SUO Challenges?

Today it's all about monochrome!  So pick one color and stick with it : )  I chose Starry Sky and made this:

The DSP packs in the color families include this great plaid that has a lot of color value already in it, talk about easy!  I stamped the sentiment with full-strength Starry Sky, and then the pegasus is stamped off once for a lighter look.  I lightly watercolored his mane, tail, and hooves too.  See, you can get a lot of use out of just one ink pad!  A few rhinestones and I'm all set.

So what's your favorite color?  Let's see your monochromatic cards on the SUO Challenges blog.  Have fun!

Out to Sea with SUO Challenges

Hey hey, ready for a new challenge from SUO Challenges?

Our theme this time is nautical and sea life, so let's go out to sea!  A quick look through my current stamps showed that I have just ONE sea-related image so....how about a mermaid?

I had the idea to pair her with the New Horizons DSP which sold out quick last month, hope you got some for your collection.  I love how the watercolor patterns look with the mermaid and I had fun choosing three to go with my sketch, which was a sketch challenge last month and I liked it so I had to use it again.  I fussy-cut the mermaid and popped her up on Dimensionals, and I must admit that cutting out her hair was pretty fiddly but I like how it turned out.  She's a celestial mermaid!

I'm sure you have some kind of nautical or sea life stamps in your collection, and of course mythical sea creatures count too ; )  Share your creation on the SUO Challenges blog and have fun!

Pure Magic Mermaid

Happy Friday and Day #3 of Pure Magic cards : )

Just trying something different with the mermaid here.  I kinda wish I'd embossed her so she'd be shiny, but I didn't have long to make this card so I went with the quick option of just plain ink on colored cardstock.  The rhinestones look a bit weird in the picture, but they're Pacific Point to match the card base.

Hope you enjoyed the Pure Magic cards.  I was just playing around with the stamp set and some color combinations with the new In Colors.  Cheers!

Pure Magic Dragon

Day #2 of Pure Magic cards, and it's time for a dragon!

I decided that I wanted a Sweet Sorbet dragon, and then went with a kinda monochromatic color combo of Sweet Sorbet, Merry Merlot, and Blushing Bride.  And those teeny-weeny little feetsies are hard to color without going outside the lines.  I'm excited to have a new dragon stamp!

Cheers!

Pure Magic Pegasus

Last Thursday I sat down and had a playdate with Pure Magic, one of the new stamp sets in the SU! catalog.  No challenges, just playing around, so I have cards to share for the next couple of days.  Here's the first one:

I did kinda start with the colors from last week's Color Throwdown challenge, which I interpreted as Pool Party, Parakeet Party, and Starry Sky.  I would have used Coastal Cabana but there aren't any Coastal Cabana Blends and I NEEDS THOSE.

Cheers!
