Pengwengs for The Paper Players

Happy Sunday, y'all, and it's time for a new Paper Players challenge!  This time the lovely Jan has a color combination for us:

I thought about this one for a while and then I had a brainwave and I made this:

Pengwengs!  We shall never forget the time that Benedict Cumberbatch narrated an entire documentary about flightless birds and discovered he can't say the word "penguin" properly, haha!  My bird-obsessed kiddo went through a phase where he watched Happy Feet over and over so I knew these colors would be perfect for this penguin pair, from the long-retired stamp set Cold-Weather Friends.  I embossed the image with black ink + Versamark + clear EP and then watercolored with Daffodil Delight and Smoky Slate ink, then added a bit of Wink of Stella to the ground so it would look a little glittery like real snow.

Check out the other design team creations on the Paper Players blog, and you can hop through their individual blogs to leave some comments too:

I couldn't wait to comment on your "pengwengs"---absolutely adorable and the background papers are spot on! I could look at these cuties all day!

Well, you really did have a brainwave with these pengwings - yes, we call them that too and for the same reason! I love that you took the yellow from the penguin and drew it out into the card base. Great choice of papers to give the birds a suitable cold space to play. Love this card!

Christy, this is such a brilliant card design with these colors! The penguin mom and baby are darling and the two patterned papers couldn't be more perfect. That's a funny story about Cumberbatch and "pengwengs". I guess we say it pen-goo-in in a quick fashion? Never really thought about it before lol!

What an absolutely perfect image for these colors, Christy! The designer papers you selected complement the penguins perfectly. LOVE it! Now I am off to see if I can find a clip of Benedict Cumberbatch pronouncing penguin! Have a wonderful upcoming weekend!

Oh my goodness how adorable is your penguin pair?! And so perfect for these colours - I would never have considered 'pengwengs'! Love the pop of yellow from the base and the sentiment circle - such a great and unexpected way to use these colours, I love it!

Christy, I love that you used these colors for the penguins. Sadly, the emperors were not ones that we managed to see on our Antarctica trip, but your card did remind me of the trip - so thank you! I love the papers you chose. Such a great layout, too. Fabulous card
