Good morning, stampy friends! Sunday means a new challenge from The Paper Players! I hope y'all enjoyed Jaydee's feminine card challenge last week; today, Claire has a great color palette for us!
I had a bit of a think about these colors and then I decided that the obvious choice was a dinosaur. A T. Rex to be specific:
I haven't made a dino card for my dino-loving pal Krissy in a while, so this was a great time to make one! I stamped the T. Rex from Whimsy Stamps and colored him in with Stampin' Blends; I still have the 3-pack of Coastal Cabana Blendabilities from way back and WHEN is SU! going to make Blends in Gorgeous Grape and Coastal Cabana?! Anyway, I wanted Rexy here to look like he was peeking out of a window, and my old reliable Rectangles Stitched dies made that easy. Those enamel dots are some of the first embellishments in that style that SU! ever produced and I bought like five packs so I still have a bunch. They have all three of the challenge colors!
I actually stamped and colored two Rexies because I wasn't sure I liked the eyes on the first one, but I decided he needed his own card anyway, so here he is:
I didn't have enough of that Gorgeous Grape polka dot pattern to exactly remake the first card, so I just played around with some DSP scraps for a different layout.
Supplies:
Stamps: Roarsome Rex from Whimsy Stamps
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Coastal Cabana, Stampin' Blends in Granny Apple Green
Paper: Granny Apple Green, Coastal Cabana, Thick Basic White, Gorgeous Grape & Coastal Cabana DSP
Accessories: Roarsome Rex dies from Whimsy Stamps, Stylish Shapes dies, Rectangles Stitched dies, Dimensionals, Glitter Enamel Dots

Christy, I am smiling looking at your fantastic dino cards. I love that you used the color combo to create these fab T Rex cards. The polka dots and stripes are the perfect backdrop for this cool reptile. The enamel dots add so much dimension and shine. YOU certainly made my challenge shine. Happy Mother's Day!!!
Your cards are T-Rexcellent, Christy! What a fun and fabulous way to show off Claire's colors! I swear, you make the BEST dino cards. I love the eyes on the dino on the second card you posted. I bet you had a ton of fun creating these guys. Have a Happy Mother's Day and a wonderful week!
Christy your T-Rex are adorable!! I love the layout of the first one where he's peeking out of the window. This is the kind of card that is sure to raise a smile - I'm sure Kristy will love it! When oh when will we get those 'missing' Blends?! Another catalogue and still no sign :-( We live in hope! Happy Mother's Day to you - I hope you were spoiled rotten!
I love both your cards! They bring a smile to my face for sure! Daphne is pretty darn cute too. She might be sniffing around for a sweet treat!
I am LOL at your dino card---I love it when creative people use colors outside the box and this one definitely fits the bill!
Ah, but this made me smile! I love a dinosaur card. I love how your T-Rex is peering out of his zany frame and how well he matches the sentiment. Of course, he'd fail the T-Rex test of my four year old granddaughter who told me recently that the T-Rex in the book couldn't possibly be a T-Rex since T-Rex only has two fingers on each hand!! And it turns out, she's right! :-)
I just went right to the flowers but making a dinosaur card was brilliant, Christy! He's a cute one too (Whimsy Stamps has such a fabulous selection of fun stuff, right?) and looks great in both card designs. And Daphne appears to be eye-balling her next chew toy?? She's a cutie!
OK... which is cuter - Daphne or T-rexxxx?! Daphne for sure. What a wonderful little helper! As for your card. I laughed out loud with T-rexx munching down. I love both of the ways you showcased him and what a fabulous use of Claire's colors
hugs
jaydee
