Have a Rainbow Day with The Paper Players

Gooooood mornin' y'all!  Sunday means it's time for a new Paper Players challenge and the fabulous Joanne has chosen a super fun color challenge for us!

Fun fact:  when I was little (as in, under the age of 7, before we moved from California to Texas), my bedroom was painted yellow and one wall was covered in wallpaper with rainbows on it, and I had a piece of framed art that said "Have a rainbow day".  I had a Rainbow Brite doll too : ) and at least one of the Sprites.  I still have the rainbow afghan my mom crocheted for me to go with that bedroom decor.  So a rainbow challenge is right up my alley!  Here's what I made:

This card started with that rainbow stripe pattern!  And I have a full rainbow too:  Rose Red, Pumpkin Pie, So Saffron, Old Olive, Tempting Turquoise, and Gorgeous Grape.  The "aloha" came out a little bit darker than I wanted it to, so I added some Gorgeous Grape shimmer gems to incorporate more purple.  I made a hula dancer card a couple of weeks ago, and at that time I said I wanted to make a card with the Hawaiian shirt and surfboard images in the Do the Hula stamp set.  Well, this was my chance to use the shirt and the leaf stamps!  I had a grand ol' time fussy-cutting everything out to go on top of that fun stripe pattern, which is from the Island Oasis DSP pack from way back in 2010.  Uh, I tend to hold onto my craft supplies just in case they come in handy later, which is why I have that old DSP and also all those retired ink pads.

Check out the other design team creations on the Paper Players blog, and you can hop through their individual blogs to leave some comments too:

Oh, Christy! Don't you love it when a challenge leads you on a trip down Memory Lane? I love the Hawaiian shirts and the striped paper. The bold Aloha is the perfect sentiment. What great rainbow vibes! Have a wonderful week!

Oh, Christy, that must have been a fun bedroom with all the bright and rainbow colors! Your card is super cute! My husband has a small collection of Hawaiian shirts and I love them (and to borrow them once in a while lol!). Anyway, the shirts on your card brought back lots of good memories. Love the colors in the rainbow paper and how you added the monstera leaves. Fabulous card!

I like your out of the box thinking with the rainbow colours - but then I read that you are indeed very experienced with rainbows from a young age! Hawaiian shirts didn't hit my radar for rainbows but they look fantastic. It made me think fondly of our holiday to Hawaii - and with winter now looming, I'd be happy to go back. :-)

I love the idea of a rainbow-decorated bedroom Christy - how fun! As for that card - it is giving me a real longing for a sunny vacation and those fun shirts have a real Magnum PI vibe!! I love the way you incorporated the rainbow theme this week!
