A Radiant Color Combination for SUO Challenges

Mornin' y'all!  Hope your Tuesday is off to a good start...Ryan was determined to be grumpy this morning but he's now off at school and I have my cuppa tea so I'm a happy camper : )  And in other happy news, we have a color challenge for you at SUO Challenges!

As it happens, those are the exact colors in the Sunflower Fields DSP, so I thought I'd let the paper do the heavy lifting for me.  Here's what I made:

I couldn't decide between the two multicolored panels, so I decided to make two cards.  The ribbon I used is retired, but everything else is current.  Oh wait, the Textured Notes dies are retired, maybe?  I can't keep track anymore.  Anyway, a simple stamped and die cut greeting from Radiant Sunflowers, a couple gems to decorate, and now I have two cute cards to mail out.

Hope you'll join the fun at SUO Challenges!  Check out what the rest of the design team made, turns out I was the lazy one this time around ; )

Supplies, all SU!
Stamps:  Radiant Sunflowers
Ink:  Cajun Craze
Paper:  Golden Glow, Cajun Craze, Early Espresso, Basic White, Sunflower Fields DSP
Accessories:  Textured Notes dies, Radiant Sunflowers dies, Dimensionals, Old Olive polytwill ribbon, Radiant Gems

Spooky Hippo

Midnight greetings, ghoul friends!  For tonight's card, I thought I'd revisit the spooky sweet suite from last year and I made this:

I hadn't really done much with the scene builder patterned paper, so I used an image of a window, front porch, and sidewalk as the background for my spooky hippo, which is a punch-out piece from another piece of the paper.  I made my own greeting by combining two stamps in the Spooky Halloween stamp set, which is the only stamping here.

This was my first card for the Paper Players sketch challenge:

But in the end I made my pumpkin card for that challenge and kept this one for the Hex-Travaganza.

Stay spooky, friends!

Supplies, all SU!
Stamps:  Spooky Halloween
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black, Pumpkin Pie
Paper:  Petunia Pop, Basic White, Spooky Sweet Specialty DSP
Accessories:  Stitched Nested Labels dies, Dimensionals, Shimmer Star Foam stickers

Drama Leaf

Mornin' y'all!  Ryan just left for school on his bike (Daphne tried to go with him, but I made her come back inside) so now I have a quiet house and I can get some things done this morning : )  Let's start with a card I made yesterday:

I made this for the CAS Colours & Sketches color challenge:

I bought that Autumn Woodland glimmer paper when it first became available, but I kept forgetting to use it because it was under a stack of patterned paper.  I'm glad I finally pulled it out though, I got a very dramatic leaf for my troubles : )  It sparkles even more in person and I used some of the Radiant Gems in Golden Glow for even more glitz.

As soon as I finish my tea, I'm taking Daphne out for a walk because it's a beautiful fall day here so we should get outside and enjoy it.  And then I will probably be planning out the last few cards for this year's Halloween Hex-Travaganza...can't believe that we're under a week away from Halloween.  Cheers!

Supplies, all SU!
Stamps:  Elegant Leaves
Ink:  Golden Glow, Mossy Meadow

See the mummy?  I actually have at least three other mummies I could have used, I just went on a pumpkin bender for a while this year.  Well, pretty soon I'll start making cards for next year's Hex-Travaganza, ha!

Stay spooky, friends!

A Fabulous (I Hope) Sketch for The Paper Players

Goooood morning stampy friends!  It's Sunday, which means it's Paper Players day!  I hope you enjoyed Stef's awesome autumn challenge, it's by far my favorite season so the gallery was an extra treat for my eyes : )  I am the host for this month's sketch challenge (probably my favorite type of challenge!), and here it is:

I based this sketch on a Nancy Drew card I made quite some time ago (back when I was in the single digits for the books!), so here's my new card:

Yep, I'm back to pumpkins, but this time I'm blaming it on the Just Us Girls challenge:

I only have like three sets of stencils and Painted Pumpkins is one of them, and this gave me an excuse to play with a different pattern from the coordinating paper so here we are back in the pumpkin patch.  I find it funny and ironic that none of the cards I posted yesterday had anything pumpkin-related on them, for the first time in a week, but that's the day that we went out to the pumpkin patch in real life so I was still staring at pumpkins.  Ha!

Check out the other design team creations on the Paper Players blog, and you can hop through their individual blogs to leave some comments too:

Kindred Spirit

Midnight greetings, ghoul friends!  Tonight my card is showcasing the sweeter side of Halloween...candy!

I used two new Ink Road stamp sets for this card, Candy Corn and Boos Forever, and chose my candy paper for the Inspired By... challenge:

My card didn't want to be just orange, gray, and black, and of course the candy corn had to be the traditional white-orange-yellow color combo, so I started with that and added a bucketful of Fresh Freesia for something different.  The patterned paper is black and white, so I used my Blends to color in just the candy corn on the pattern, leaving the other candies white.

I also couldn't resist using the most recent Freshly Made Sketch again:

Do you like candy corn, or are you one of those people who thinks it's akin to eating wax?  I'm fine with it, but it's not my favorite.

Stay spooky, friends!

Supplies:
Stamps:  Candy Corn & Boos Forever from The Ink Road
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black, Stampin' Blends in Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Fresh Freesia, Smoky Slate, Pretty in Pink
Paper:  Fresh Freesia, Daffodil Delight, Basic White, Cute Halloween DSP Stack
Accessories:  Stylish Shapes dies, Dimensionals, Rainbow Dots

The Silver Cobweb

Hey y'all, and welcome to the Nancy Drew Challenge!  Today we're on book #71, The Silver Cobweb:

I got the middle one when I was a kid, and acquired the other two just since I started rereading these.  Uh, why does Nancy have a mullet on the arch cover?!  Ugh.  The middle one is weird because while Nancy does investigate an abandoned warehouse, there is no dynamite involved.  The last one is my favorite and it's the hardest one to find; I got one that had marks all over the cover and then it was about a year before I found this copy that's in great shape.  Did I pay $20 just for this one book on eBay?  Yep.

Case file:  Nancy works to discover the link between rising golf star Kim Vernon, deceased opera singer Arachne Onides (what a name, I approve), and a mysterious piece of bling which at various points has been stolen, faked, and used in insurance fraud.  And also there are a LOT of spiders in this one.  It's spider-tastic.

Here's my first card:

It works out for me that this book came up during spooky season because I have quite a few spiders in my Halloween stamp stash.  The cobweb on this card (and yes, I made an actual silver cobweb here) is from Bite Me, one of SU!'s earliest photopolymer stamp sets, and the spider is from perennial favorite From the Crypt.  I should have done something different to make the greeting show up more though.

For my colors, I used Midnight Muse, Dapper Denim, More Mustard, and Cherry Cobbler.  That buffalo check from the Orchard Harvest DSP was the closest I could get to Nancy's shirt.

Supplies, all SU!
Stamps:  Bite Me, From the Crypt
Ink:  Versamark, Secret Sea (because I was too lazy to get up and grab my Midnight Muse ink pad)
Paper:  Midnight Muse, Dapper Denim, Orchard Harvest DSP, Cherry Cobbler DSP
Accessories:  Everyday Arches dies, Stylish Shapes dies, silver EP, Cherry Cobbler EP, Sparkle Gems

Okay, second card:

In the book, the stolen jewelry is a spider brooch with rubies for its body and diamond-studded legs and I still wouldn't wear it no matter how fancy it is, but my mom would love it.  This card made for an interesting color combination but I wanted to work in the red as red spiders are a recurring plot point.

My colors this time are Pebbled Path, Smoky Slate, Pool Party, and Real Red which kind of makes for an odd combination on a pseudo-Halloween card but I had fun making it anyway.  It doesn't show up very well in the photo, but there's red-on-red cobwebs on the bottom strip.

Supplies, all SU!
Stamps:  Hallows Night Magic, Witches' Night
Ink:  Pebbled Path, Real Red, Memento Tuxedo Black, Versamark
Paper:  Pebbled Path, Smoky Slate, Pool Party, Real Red, Softly Stippled DSP
Accessories:  Halloween Magic dies, Shimmery Black EP, red rhinestones, Dimensionals

And now for the third card:

I got out my beloved Wonderfully Wicked bundle for this one and I realized that while I had used that giant wicked die several times, I hadn't used the spider die.  Once again this book cover's color combination was just weird for a Halloween-esque card, so I focused just on one color and a tiny pop of Strawberry Slush with a gem on the spider.  I decided to do the wicked die cut in silver glimmer paper to go with the silver cobweb book title.

So the closest I could come to the blue on this cover is Azure Afternoon, and I decided to go with a largely monochromatic card instead of trying to work in the purple or red or whatever.  I do like that giant word die in the glimmer paper.

Supplies, all SU!
Stamps:  Wonderfully Wicked
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black, Azure Afternoon
Paper:  Azure Afternoon, Basic Black, Silver glimmer paper
Accessories:  Wicked dies, mini Dimensional, Strawberry Slush gem

This book reminds me of Haunted Bridge (golf, yawn), Old Attic (spiders), and Spider Sapphire (spiders and jewelry), and we have a reappearance of the Footlighters theater group from Dancing Puppet.  And also opera, which is new and different.  It's not one of my favorites but I do remember one of the villains from reading this as a kid (he had a droopy eye, that's what I remember), and the other villain is 100% modeled on Vincent Price, so I give this one three and a half stars.  I'll see you here next Saturday when Nancy investigates The Haunted Carousel.
