A-Team Baby Book: October

Happy Saturday, y'all!  Time for another baby book layout, and we're up to October!

I love the Haunt Ya Later stamp set that was in last year's holiday mini, a little bummed that it didn't carry over but that doesn't mean I can't still play with it when I want to.

Witches can have purple eyes, right?  :D

Friday Flashback: Nature's Pace

Happy Friday afternoon, y'all!  I'm finally here with the Friday Flashback, and this week's stamp set is Nature's Pace.  If you look at that link, I made the index card for the set but I didn't include it here :)  So let's see what else I've got!

One of my last England layouts.  I only remember that field of purple flowers being there for our last spring in England.

I think this was for a Splitcoast sketch challenge, and I didn't really like how it turned out, but at least I used a different stamp from Nature's Pace besides the thistle.

Like, a lot.  So I had to use it again for today's new card:

For this one, I thought I'd go for a different look on the thistle and I embossed it with pewter EP on Elegant Eggplant cardstock.  A sentiment and some patterned paper later, and I had a finished card thanks once again to the Retro Rubber sketch:

I happened across Favorite Thoughts for the sentiment while perusing my stamps and I thought I hadn't used it in a long time so why not.  Don't know who I'll send this card to but I think it's fun :)  Anyway, I've had Nature's Pace since 2012 and Favorite Thoughts since 2010, so they're both nice and retro.

Bonjour Butterfly

Bonjour from the land of computer issues.  I don't know what was up with the Mac this morning, but it was being super-slow about opening photo files (so I could post today's card) and saving things.  I did a restart and so far, so good.  Maybe our computer is coming down with techno-Alzheimers.  It *is* like 9 years old...

Anyway, card:

Yesterday was better than the day before in the mojo department, I got this card made pretty quickly.  And then I went to go see the original Ghostbusters on the big screen, can't be a bad day when that happens :)  FYI, those are rhinestones flanking the sentiment; for some reason they didn't catch the flash when I took the picture and they look a little weird.  Anyway, I used the brand new Freshly Made Sketch:

And paired it with the Color Throwdown:

I used Peekaboo Peach, Watermelon Wonder, and Elegant Eggplant for my colors, though I wish I'd gone with Rose Red.  The Watermelon Wonder DSP is lighter than the ink (my WW ink pad is still very juicy) and I think Rose Red would have contrasted better.  But too late to peel it all apart.

Mojo Rain Dance

So yesterday I sat in my craft room for, no kidding, an hour and a half with absolutely zero idea what to do for today's card.  I was feeling severely mojo-less, but at last I settled on the sketch challenge from Retro Rubber:

And I needed a couple of thank-you cards for some longtime SU! customers, so here's what I came up with:

I used the colors from the Blooms & Bliss DSP, but my first new catty order doesn't arrive until tomorrow (probably late in the afternoon to boot) so I couldn't use the actual paper.  Still, I think this turned out okay.  Here's hoping I have an easier time of it in my craft room today, don't know what is up with my stamping mojo this week.  Oh yes, for Retro Rubber I have to say how long I've had the stamps--Flower Patch is two years old and I think I've had One Big Meaning for at least a year, so I'm retro on both counts.

This afternoon I'm going to see the original Ghostbusters on the big screen.  Wooohoooo!  Can't wait.  We ain't afraid of no ghosts!

Just Keep Swimming

Hey y'all, how's it going today?  I'm feeling a little off my stamping game, to be honest.  But I did get a card made for today.

I'm a little disappointed that the top turtle ended up being a little smeary.  I stamped the turtles with Versamark and Cucumber Crush, and I really didn't expect that to work with stamping off but that turtle looks pretty good.  They're embossed with clear EP, then I spritzed the whole thing with water and haphazardly watercolored some Tempting Turquoise for the background and dried it with the heat tool.  So why an undersea card today?  Because of the Cupcake Inspirations challenge, of course:

And I made it a get well card for the Global Design Project challenge:

Now all I have to do is write "just keep swimming" on the inside when I need to send it to someone :)  I combined those two challenges with the Mojo Monday sketch:

The sea turtles were actually my second try on the background panel, here was the first one:

I liked how the "sea" turned out better on this one (except the scribble on the top above the turtle because the paper wasn't wet enough yet) but I thought that having all three of the sea creatures on there just made it too busy.  So I went with my favorite turtle instead :)

In other news, watermelon-flavored Greek yogurt is just weird and should not be a thing.  Glad I only got one container of that...

Scrappy Monday, y'all!  Today we're going retro:  the pictures on this scrapbook layout are from 11 years ago.

This was when the hubs' family had a big birthday party for his grandma in North Carolina, and hubs' sister and her husband found out that North Carolina barbecue is NOT barbecue (we're from Texas, y'all).

So that title took some time to stamp :p But I liked it anyway.  This layout took me forever to finish...not just because the pictures are old.  I started it when we lived in Alabama and didn't finish it until months after we moved to Virginia.  And then I made the hubs do the journaling :D

Today's color palette:  Blushing Bride (I almost never use that in my scrapbooks!), Sahara Sand, Marina Mist, Not Quite Navy, Cucumber Crush, and Whisper White.  I started this layout right after Cucumber Crush was first released, so this was actually the first thing I worked on with that color.

A-Team Baby Book: September

Happy Saturday, y'all!  Any fun plans for the weekend?

Here's the September layout for my niece.  Her mama (my SIL) works for the school district so of course apples (for teachers!) are a natural choice for September.  And I had this super cute image from The Greeting Farm:

Isn't she darling?!  For some reason my camera doesn't like Marina Mist cardstock, but trust me, it's blue and not gray.

And there's a few more apples.

Today's color combo:  Marina Mist, Real Red, Old Olive, Chocolate Chip, and Whisper White.  That's all she wrote today, have a great weekend!
