Mornin' y'all! Sunday means it's time for a new challenge from The Paper Players, and this week the fantastic Jaydee has a sweet summery color combination for us, check it out:
For my SU! shades, I used Calypso Coral, Flirty Flamingo, Granny Apple Green, and Daffodil Delight. I must confess that in general I don't care for pink and coral together, so my thought process started with how I could separate those two colors on my card. Happily, a long-retired pack of patterned paper came to my rescue, and here's what I made:
I started off by ink blending a diagonal of Daffodil Delight on a white card front, then did Flirty Flamingo and Calypso Coral in opposing corners, and that's when I recalled that the Bubbles & Fizz DSP has three of my colors in it and wouldn't you know, some of the lighter Calypso Coral bits actually match Flirty Flamingo pretty well. Huzzah! I cut the bottles and bottle caps from patterns in the pack and then that greeting from Terrific Toadstools just popped into my head (hee) and I ended up with a card I like, even with pink and coral sharing screen space. And that is what challenges are for, is to stretch your creativity.
Fun fact: while I was pregnant with Ryan, the hubs and I kept his name a secret from everyone until he was born and his code name was Baby Sodapop. I used the Bubbles & Fizz DSP on a layout in his baby book, and I wish I had gotten the coordinating stamps and dies but I didn't. (Somebody keep me away from eBay...) At least I have two packs of the paper to play with. Question: what do you call carbonated drinks? Where I grew up, we called everything a Coke regardless of brand. I don't ever call it pop (except on today's card, ha!), but now I do occasionally say soda.

Oh I love that you used this set - fun fact, I actually demonstrated it at Onstage the year it came out! I think mine has long gone, but I'm going to check my old retired box for the bundle for you just in case it's still luurking. Those pop bottles are so retro, especially in these colours (pop is definitely the generic term for fizzy drinks we would use here in the UK).
