Stamped Tulips

Happy Saint Patrick's Day, peeps!  Got your green on?  I mentioned yesterday that I made two cards for the Global Design Project sketch; I had to keep this one for today so it wouldn't get pinched:

I adore Just Jade, don't you?  It's retiring soon and I'm already sad about it.  Today's color combination is courtesy of the Inspire. Create challenge:

And here's the Global Design Project sketch once again:

Okay, now I've got to call someone on the phone and make an appointment for Ryan (I *haaaaate* calling people on the phone, and to add to the difficulty I don't speak German...) and then I'm going to go do something fun.  Cheers, y'all!

Died Tulips

Afternoon, y'all!  I had to be at work early this morning so I didn't get a chance to write my blog post before now, but I do have a die-tastic card to share today.

This is actually the second of two cards I made with this week's Global Design Project sketch:

I made my card landscape orientation rather than portrait just so I could show more of the tulips die.  This card is already out in the mail even--mailed it out today to some friends that could use a bit of paper sunshine.  I cut out the tulips from Daffodil Delight cardstock and then mulled around for a while wondering what to use for the other colors on my card, and finally landed on Pumpkin Pie and Pacific Point.  What do you think?  I was going for sunny :)  The tulip line is popped up on Dimensionals and I'm tickled with how that turned out.

Looks like I've got just a bit of time to myself this afternoon before Ryan gets home, so I'm going to either go work in my craft room or else watch this week's NCIS and do my stitching.  Either way I'm happy!  Cheers, y'all!

SUO Challenges: Plants & Gardening

Gooooood morning friends!  How are you doing today?  Ready for another challenge from SUO Challenges?

Our theme this time around is plants and gardening.  I have lots (LOTS) of flower sets that I could have used, but instead, I pulled out some DSP and made this:

I fussy-cut five house plants out of the Bloom Where You're Planted DSP, and then added a sentiment (embossed in white, because that is my current thing) from Enjoy the Moment.  I do so love Just Jade and Cinnamon Cider and they're retiring soon, don't forget to stock up on the retiring In Colors now.  Right after you play along with our challenge, of course ;)  Upload your paper garden at the SUO Challenges blog.

Cheers!

Deal Castle

Scrappy Monday, y'all! I got home from Paris last night, it was a fun trip.  My friend Krissy and I visited the Musée d'Orsay, took the metro everywhere and saw Sacré Cœur, the Arc de Triomphe, and the Eiffel Tower, plus did some shopping, eating, and met some Parisian pooches.  Fun!

Now for today's scrapbook layout.

You can see the original pics here.  Deal Castle was the last one we visited in Kent, and that pic on the bottom right is from Lullingstone Roman Villa--the only pic we took there, but it inspired me to use that tile patterned DSP on here and I love it.

Today's color palette includes Coastal Cabana, Terracotta Tile, Pretty Peacock, Garden Green, Basic Gray, and Whisper White.  I was surprised how well those colors went together for this!

Cheers, y'all!

Spring Colors for the Paper Players

Springtime greetings, stamping friends!  Is it beginning to warm up where you are?  We've had some beautiful sunny weather of late but it's still a bit chilly.  Happily I have a sunny color challenge from the Paper Players to warm up my craft room!

I admit, anytime there's a color challenge featuring any shade of green, my brain immediately yells FLOWERS but I'm stubborn so frequently I try to make something different :)  I still have several new stamp sets that I haven't inked up yet, so I chose one of them and made this:

Ryan's very favorite stuffed animal/companion is a stuffed duckling named Peking (yes, Peking Duck); if you've seen any of my scrapbook layouts of Ryan then you've likely seen Peking as well.  Given that, I couldn't resist the Easter Friends stamp set from the mini catalog and this happy little duckling!  I inked up the stamp with Versamark and Cinnamon Cider, then stamped on Basic White and embossed with clear embossing powder.  That allowed me to watercolor without smudging the lines.  When I stuck everything down on the card, I think I rotated Peking's circle a bit and now it looks like he's waddling down a hill but I like it like that :)

Hope you enjoy playing with these colors as much as I did.  Don't forget to upload your card on the Paper Players blog!

Vespa Chic

Mornin' y'all!  Guess what?  I'm leaving for PARIS today!  I'm going just for the weekend with a friend, and I have an oh-so-appropriate card to share:

I pulled out the long, long-retired Paris in the Spring stamp set to make this, and I'll be entering it at Retro Rubber:

I decided to do the top row, with watercoloring being my choice for the middle block, and if you count the itsy-bitsy dots on the patterned paper as confetti then I did the center column too.  I've had Paris in the Spring since at least 2007, so 15 years--I think that counts as retro!

I also used the sketch from Fusion:

And that's all she wrote for today.  Au revoir, mes amis!

Supplies, all SU!
Stamps:  Paris in the Spring
Ink:  Versamark, Night of Navy, Magenta Madness, Just Jade, Misty Moonlight, Pumpkin Pie, Basic Gray, Cinnamon Cider, one of the new skin tone Stampin' Blends
Paper:  Blushing Bride, Night of Navy, Abstract Beauty DSP Stack

Pointed Remark

Mornin', y'all!  How's it going today?  I did spend time in my craft room yesterday, but I only made two cards before I went back to stitching instead.  I'm down to the very last page on my current (giant) stitching project and I just want to be DONE with it.  So here's one of the cards I made.

I was going to put a thin mat of Polished Pink around the main image panel which is when I noticed that the rectangle isn't plum--it's turning into a parallelogram!  The die didn't look warped but the shape it cut out definitely is.  I'm chalking it up to the charms of handmade paper crafts :)  Also, I put two flowers on top of my cactus because it reminds me of the pompoms on a winter hat my hubs bought me.

I used this week's Freshly Made Sketch:

And the Color Throwdown:

I used Smoky Slate, Polished Pink, and Granny Apple Green for my colors.

Gotta get my workout done and get ready to go for the day.  Cheers!
