Nachos: Butterfly Basics

Happy Nacho Day once again, peeps!  And happy St. Patrick's Day too, hope you're wearing green and getting lots of kisses for being Irish :)

I think a lot of us have spring fever lately, and my card for this challenge is definitely springy.  And I actually used one of the other two Butterfly Thinlits!

And and AND my card has green on it so no pinchies.  :)  I kinda made up the card as I went, randomly choosing colors that sounded like a good idea and just stamping whatever felt "right" as I went along.  It was almost like free association stamping?  Well, I like how it turned out, anyway.

Big Wild Goose Pagoda

Scrappy Monday once again!  Hope your weekend was better than mine; I did something to my back on Friday (no idea what, I was fine when I went running but then all of a sudden after that my lower back started to hurt) so I've been hobbling around like an old crippled lady all weekend.  I think it's getting better though.  But let's talk about something more fun, like scrapping pictures from China!

Click the pic to see it bigger, and if you want to you can see the original pictures here.  This 7-story pagoda (or pagonia, as Missy would say) is near the city of Xi'an; I still have to do pictures from the pagonia's peony garden.  Seems like I've done several layouts of late with shades of red for the page base, I'm digging the Cherry Cobbler on here.  That patterned paper was my favorite bit of the Paisley Petals pack; there was quite a bit of it that I wasn't over-fond of but this one I liked.  Unfortunately, I used up every scrap of it I had left on the first layout, so the second pagonia layout got a different Paisley Petals pattern:

It's still okay, but I kinda wish I'd had just a leetle bit more of the other pattern.  Anyway, you'll notice I used my favorite bitty dragon from Ancient Asia on my journaling block :)

And there's my color palette:  Cherry Cobbler, Marina Mist, Barely Banana, Old Olive, and Basic Black.  Really, on the second layout I could have added Smoky Slate to the palette since it figures prominently in the pictures.

I'm quite proud to say that I'm now over the halfway mark for my scrapbook page production this year, I'm at 54 pages.  Might actually make it to 100 this year, woot!  Cheers, peeps!  I've got more scrappin' to do.

Friday Flashback: Well Scripted

Happy Friday, peeps!  It's time for this week's Friday Flashback, and the randomly selected retired stamp set du jour is Well Scripted, a collection of sentiment stamps from back in 2010.  I'm a wee bit embarrassed this Flashback isn't longer than it is, but let's get to it anyway.

Believe it or not, I made this card when I did a Friday Flashback on my other blog, before I started this stamps/scrapbook blog.  I do love that flower from Bloomin' Beautiful, but the Well Scripted sentiment is a mite hard to see.

Coincidentally I used the same birthday stamp on this card, and it's the end of the Flashback part of today's proceedings.  I made a bunch of these for a swap back in the day.  Don't know why I didn't use this set more often, I do like the fonts and it's got a nice collection of sentiments.

Lucky for me, I decided (without checking the archives first) to use a NON-birthday stamp for today's new creation:

Yay Mother's Day card!  I owe the color combination to the Color Throwdown:

It's funny that I used Pale Plum and Perfect Plum on today's card, like I did on the first card on this post.  I almost went with Almost Amethyst and Lovely Lilac instead, but chose the plums specifically because I don't use them very often and then they show up twice in the Friday Flashback.  Anyway, I added Wild Wasabi, Whisper White, and it needed just a teensy bit of So Saffron to make the card work.

I stamped my sentiment banner first and placed it on the card front so I could kind of see where I would want my roses to go.  And I didn't try to fill up the entire Whisper White panel, but somehow I covered up most of the white bits with the other layers.

In the Style of Brian King

If you check out the sidebar to the right, you can see I've got quite a list of blogs that I like to visit for some stampy inspiration, and today's card is inspired by Brian King.  I'm not necessarily thinking of any particular card of his, but when I was making this it just seemed to jive with all the goodies I've seen on his blog :)

There's a springy birthday card for ya.  The flower is from the new-this-month get-it-while-you-can Nature's Perfection, which I embossed in Calypso Coral EP on Blushing Bride cardstock.  The sentiment is from Butterfly Basics, which I got in the bundle with the Butterfly Thinlits but hadn't used before now because I'm distracted by the Butterfly Thinlits.

Anywha, I got my springariffic color combination from Fab Friday:

I continue to be in love with the Spring Flowers embossing folder.  Add the hexagon punch to flag the end of my sentiment banner, and that's the whole card right there.

Speedy Purple Butterfly

Hola, peeps!  How's it going today?  Looks like we're going to have rain in 'Bama.  Anywha, I have a purple-licious card for you today:

I broke out the retired Cottage Wall DSP and Orchid Opulence grosgrain ribbon for this one.  I made this for the As You See It Speed Stamping challenge:

I won't lie, trying to make a card in 10 minutes was a wee bit stressful, even though I had all the supplies set out before I started the timer.  I also used this week's Retro Sketch:

I do know that there are two other dies in the Butterflies Thinlits set, but I seem to be stuck on the medium-sized one :)  Anyway, it's time once again to take the doglets on their tour of the neighborhood, so cheers, peeps!

Top o' the mornin' to ya!  Except for that part where I hate Daylight Savings Time and think we should kill it with fire.  Anyway, we have an appropriately green and gold St. Patrick's Day color combo for you today from the Nacho Average Challenges crew:

And I only just right this minute realized that I used the wrong light green on here--I wrote it down as Pistachio Pudding instead of Pear Pizzazz.  So just imagine the right side of my card is Pear Pizzazz, ok?  Here it is:

I really liked last week's Nacho sketch, so I used a modified version of it for today's card.  I put a Garden Green Candy Dot in my flower center, and on the right are two gold brads because I needed some gold on that side of the card, it just didn't photograph well.  Anyway, here was last week's sketch if you forgot:

Deep in the Heart of Texas

Scrappy Monday, y'all!  I just got a bunch of photo prints from all the stuff we did in 2014, so today's scrapbook layout is a pretty recent vintage.

All the pics on the left page are from my mom's birthday in July, the day the hubs and I got back to Texas from England and surprised her at her birthday dinner (she was expecting us three days later, but we pulled a sneaky trick on all the parental units).  The pics on the right are from the next few weeks we spent there, and you can see 'em close up here.

There's a closeup of the title.  I bought the Texas stamp and horses stamp at a rubber stamp store in Salado, Texas, several years ago but I think this is only the second time or so that I've used it.  Still, I loved it for my title on here, and the teensy letters are from the SU! Rough Edges Alphabet.  And the wee heart is from Wood You Be Mine.

I was totally inspired by the color combo at the Color Throwdown for my layout, though I swapped the Coastal Cabana aqua for Pacific Point.  I kinda had to because that was what was in the patterned paper I used.

There's my color palette:  Real Red, Pacific Point, Night of Navy, Sahara Sand, and Whisper White.  Love me some bright colors.

Anyway, I need to get moving and decide if I'm going to run or take the dogs for a walk first.  They both gotta get done though, so cheers, peeps!
