Happy Friday, Flashback fans! Which I think is just my mom but that's okay :) This week's randomly chosen retired stamp set is Delight in Life, which was a Sale-a-Bration stamp set back in the day when it was still called Sell-a-Bration. So let's flash back...
This old card was done with the white crayon resist technique....I know for me, the white crayon was always the only one that was still pristine and untouched while all the rest of my crayons were well-used. So here's an idea to use the white crayon too--stamp on glossy white cardstock (might work on regular cardstock, I don't know?) and use the crayon to draw in highlights, then sponge ink over. Easy peasy.
Welllll I thought this flashback was going to be a lot longer, but somehow that's the only old sample I had! So here's my all-new card for today:
I used last week's SCS sketch challenge and this week's Color Throwdown, and this card came together in maybe 15 minutes. I was tempted to swap out the Soft Sky for my personal favorite Baja Breeze, but I was a good girl and stuck to the challenge colors. Although the way my photo turned out it almost looked like I used Baja Breeze anyway, hmph. The ribbon is pale pink; I'm not real sure where it came from since I found it in a bag of loose ribbon and I thought it might look okay on here. It seems a teensy bit heavier than SU's taffeta ribbon, but who knows where I got it. Anyway, here's the color challenge:
That's a beautiful inspiration pic too. I had fun using Regal Rose again, I miss that color.
Thanks for stopping by today, and have a great weekend! I'm off to work on another scrapbook layout so I actually meet my goal of 10 pages for January :)
Supplies, last card only:
Stamps: Delight in Life, Fancy Flexible Phrases
Ink: Regal Rose, Baked Brown Sugar, Soft Sky
Paper: Shimmery White, Soft Sky
Accessories: Circle Framelits, Argyle EF, ribbon of questionable provenance, Subtles Candy Dots, Dimensionals

We're All Mad Here
I've been working on this for the past two days:
In March, I'll be hosting a Mad Hatter tea party like I did last year. I had ideas for decorations last year that I never got around to, so I'm starting early this time and I've got two helper bees this year where I did it all by my onesies last year.
So anyway, I'm mad here because I hand-cut every single letter and almost all of the flowers (the smallest pink and yellow flowers were punched out), which is why this took me two days to make. But I like how it turned out, what do you think? I once again used my favorite Bodacious Bouquet and a variety of other bold flower stamps, and the letters are a template from a company I kinda think is no longer in business (at least, that's what Google seems to be telling me).
Have a great day! I'm off to my next mad idea...which is probably walking the dogs :)
Supplies:
Stamps: Bodacious Bouquet, Eastern Blooms, Fabulous Flowers, One of a Kind, Paradise
Ink: Daffodil Delight, Garden Green, Melon Mambo, Pacific Point, Pumpkin Pie, Rich Razzleberry
Paper: Tempting Turquoise, Melon Mambo, Basic Black, Whisper White, Kaleidoscope DSP (the old one, not the one that's out in the Occasions catty now)
Accessories: non-SU lettering template
ETA for Mom: The frame size is 16 by 20, and the opening is 11 by 14, so I started with a 12x12 piece of cardstock and added the patterned paper to the top and bottom to get 14 inches. I happened to have this empty frame sitting around because I'd planned to do some kind of home decor with it and just hadn't gotten around to it, so it's been put to use now! I can always switch this out for something else later if I want to.

Graduation Day
So I've been doing this thing where I draw slips of paper out of a hat (actually it's a Tupperware container, but same idea) for what to scrap next, which is why my pages have spanned from 2003 to present for the last few months :) This time I drew my brother's college graduation in 2004, so here it is:
I cut up the graduation announcement for the left page so that I could show both the front and the inside of it. For the right side, I found an image of Pistol Pete online (he's Oklahoma State's mascot) and took it to a local print kiosk and hat it printed as a 4x6 photo, and then cut it out. It was just the accent I needed for these pages :)
For this one, I included the newsletter my mom wrote at the time (it was sitting in the page protector in my scrapbook for 9 1/2 years!) and then did my own journaling about our t-shirts. They all say I'm Adam's Sister, I'm Adam's Mom, I'm Adam's Girlfriend (though now she needs one that says I'm Adam's Wife), etc. Hubs' was funny, his says I'm Adam's Brother-in-Law but it's so long that the ends of the text kinda don't show up. I just did pics of us all goofing off on graduation day...the pic on the bottom right is in the university bookstore, where one of the staff members made his own "shirt" from a plastic bag worn like a bib and bearing the legend "I'm Adam's Cashier".
Not only are these pages finally done after languishing for 9 1/2 years, this is also the maiden voyage of an old stamp set called Occasionally! I think maybe it was a SAB set years ago? Or maybe a hostess set. Anyway, I've never liked it too much but it seemed to be perfect for this so it finally got used, hurrah!
Thanks for stopping by today!
Supplies:
Stamps: Occasionally
Ink: Tangerine Tango, Brilliant Blue, Basic Black
Paper: Tangerine Tango textured, Brilliant Blue, Basic Black, Whisper White, retired Basic Black DSP
Accessories: corner rounder & small star punches, scallop square dies

Sale-a-Brate with the Nachos
Happy Nacho Day everyone! It's time for a Nacho Average Color Challenge:
I think I'm in love with that color combo, isn't it gorgeous? Here's my card:
I'm not 100% sure I did the color combo justice, I may have to give it another whirl just for funsies. I used an SCS sketch for this, kind of expecting not to like it because of all the layers, but I ended up liking it quite a bit. I think that my little "hi" tag is a bit *too* small to compete with those flowers, but other than that I think it works. I used Midnight Muse as a neutral to go with the yummy colors--my first thought was to use shells, but I feel like I do that a lot and since today is the first day of Sale-a-Bration I thought I'd break out some SAB stamp sets. I actually made this one before I made yesterday's card but you'll just have to accept two Petal Parade cards in a row : )
Thanks for stopping by! Go see what the other Nachos have done, and then show us what you've got and make your own creation. Can't wait to see!
Supplies, all SU!
Stamps: Petal Parade, Banner Blast, Best of Sale-a-Bration
Ink: Crisp Cantaloupe, Coastal Cabana, Bermuda Bay, Midnight Muse
Paper: Crisp Cantaloupe, Bermuda Bay, Midnight Muse, Whisper White, In Color DSP in Coastal Cabana
Accessories: Houndstooth EF, banner punch, Dimensionals

Petal Parade
Wow, Monday again already! I had a good birthday on Friday; first there was lunch with several friends (during which I think I had several gallons of tea), then I watched The Princess Bride during the afternoon because it's one of the best movies ever. When hubs got home, he brought me beautiful flowers (he even remembered no lilies; I think they're beautiful but I'm pretty sure I'm allergic to them) and I got to open prezzies, and then he took me to dinner at my favorite pub. There was even sticky toffee pudding for dessert, so not too shabby!
So now I need a few post-birthday thank you cards : )
Hubs' parents got me a bunch of baking-related stuff like several tea towels and a bunch of silicone spatulas and the CUTEST cupcake apron, and it's all in this color combo. I shoulda used a cupcake image on here instead of the flowers, but oh well. This card came together in a snap thanks to Freshly Made Sketches:
It's a great sketch! And I stuck to it pretty well too :D
Thanks for stopping by today and have a wonderfully stampy week!

Friday Flashback: Bodacious Bouquet
Happy Friday! I wrote this post from the wifi hotspot last night and it was a bit of a pain but I was BOUND AND DETERMINED to get this up because it's my birthday! Then sometime around midnight last night, the Internet returned--it's a birthday miracle! And to add to all that happy, today's featured stamp set is one of my all-time faves, Bodacious Bouquet. So let's take a peek through the archives!
I think I used a coordinating wheel on the left side of this card but I can't remember the name of it. The sentiment is from one of the All Year Cheer stamp sets.
This one's a newer creation and was on the Best Yet Friday Flashback.
This was one of my absolute favorite cards with this stamp set; the sentiment is from Polka Dots & Paisley.
I made this one for a Hawaiian-themed baby shower! The sentiment is from Warmest Regards.
Here's a tent topper card; birthday greeting from It's Your Birthday.
Another favorite, I think I'm one of the few people who *liked* Glorious Green. This one also features Happy Everything (another all-time fave) and Paisley.
An Okinawa scrapbook page : )
And a bold baby book layout; I really liked that primary color scheme and used it several times. These bold flowers just cry out for bold colors!
Haha! I love this layout, it was our first house in Okinawa. Don'tcha love the Indiana Jones-style letters?
So that's it for the Flashback, and it would have been longer if I'd posted every single thing I've ever made with Bodacious Bouquet but I picked my faves. So here's today's new card:
The original sketch had the banner on the top pointing down, but it just didn't quite work once I had everything else on the card front so I did a horizontal one instead. First time I've used Happy Watercolor, too! I chose some of my favorite colors for this card--Bermuda Bay, Elegant Eggplant, Strawberry Slush, Garden Green and Daffodil Delight. Quite the vivid bouquet.
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed today's Friday Flashback, and have a great weekend!
Supplies, last card only:
Stamps: Bodacious Bouquet, Happy Watercolor
Ink: Bermuda Bay, Elegant Eggplant, Strawberry Slush, Garden Green, Daffodil Delight
Paper: Bermuda Bay, Strawberry Slush, Whisper White, retired Elegant Eggplant DSP, Attic Boutique DSP, Quatrefancy DSP
Accessories: Circle Framelits, Dimensionals

Hearst Castle
So on Monday, the Internet went out at hour house right as hubs and I were (finally) in the middle of planning our next trip. Here it is Thursday evening and it's still not fixed yet and I'm going slightly bonkers because I'm addicted to the Internet and I haven't been able to get online at all for DAYS. So I finally packed up the laptop and found a wifi hotspot this evening so I can get some things done.
So, pages for today! These are more old 'uns, check it out:
And for once I used background cardstock that was neither blue nor green! The pictures are from a 2006 visit to Hearst Castle in California.
I'd love to stay and chat but I need to go check my email. Tootles!

Hello There
So I posted a Valentine for the Nacho sketch challenge yesterday, but I actually made two cards this week. This one was actually my first idea:
But when I got the idea for the hearts for yesterday's card, I had to make that one too, so this one is just a bonus. I continue to be enamored of the idea of Island Indigo and Pool Party plus whatever other color strikes my fancy--last week it was Pistachio Pudding, next time maybe it'll be Rich Razzleberry...uh-oh, now I have to try that.
As a refresher, here's the sketch:
Seriously, I made yesterday's card and today's in all of a half hour, probably less. Quick and easy and still cute? Yes, please!
Thanks for stopping by today!

True Love for the Nachos
Happy Tuesday, Nacho fans! It's time for another Nacho Average Sketch challenge:
I think I have Valentines on the brain.
I admit, it's a liberal interpretation of the sketch, but I think maybe it still counts? If not, I'll have to go to stampy jail for a while : )
This is a quick and easy sketch so run off to your stamp room for 15 minutes and make a card, then be sure to share it with us at the Nacho blog. Have fun!
Supplies, all SU!
Stamps: Hearts a Flutter, Follow My Heart, Gorgeous Grunge
Ink: Sahara Sand, Coastal Cabana, Melon Mambo
Paper: Melon Mambo, Whisper White
Accessories: Hearts a Flutter Framelits, Rhinestones, Dimensionals

Snow
Well, I'm starting off this Monday with a headache, but I'm hoping that my cuppa tea will ameliorate that a bit. And I've got a brand new scrapbook layout to share!
The photos are from almost exactly a year ago; you can see them here and here. I kinda wonder if my layouts are getting too boxy, but it's hard to really do much creatively when you're trying to cram in as many pictures as possible (and since our photography has improved, I hate to crop any of the pictures off too!). I love the picture of the trees with the sun on them and the snow-covered swirly iron work, not to mention the pics of my cute little fur babies :)
I started out with a Pacific Point base for my pages and then for accents I used three super-pastel colors: Almost Amethyst, Soft Sky, and Pistachio Pudding. The stamped snowflake on the O gave me a good excuse not to try cutting out the center of the letter ;) I'm hoping now that I've got the scrappy ball rolling for this year that I can pick up momentum and reach my 100-page goal for this year. Well, I did 146 pages last year if I count the two baby books, but my goal was to do 100 pages in my own scrapbooks, and for that I got to 86 pages. So hey, not too bad a showing I guess, but I'm gonna get to that 100-page goal this year!
Thanks for stopping by today!
Supplies:
Stamps: Snow Swirled
Ink: Pacific Point, Almost Amethyst, Soft Sky, Pistachio Pudding
Paper: Pacific Point textured, Almost Amethyst, Soft Sky, Pistachio Pudding, Whisper White, retired Soft Sky DSP
Accessories: lettering template because I'm crazy and still hand-cut my letters

Friday Flashback: Heard from the Heart
It's Friday again and that means it's time for another Friday Flashback! Today's randomly chosen retired stamp set is Heard from the Heart, a lovely set of 4 sentiment stamps; I love the mixed fonts. So let's do the time warp again!
The butterfly on this one is from God's Beauty, which was a hostess set and though I like it, this was its solo voyage.
The cupcakes are from Crazy for Cupcakes, and the background flourishes and flowers are from Priceless.
Here's Morning Cup and a slightly weird layout...it was a sketch challenge. I think my card looks a little unbalanced...like the main image and the stripey bit should be larger to balance out the polka dots. Oh well.
The main image on this one is from Serene Spring, another one hit wonder hostess set. I made this one for a swap.
Pretty Peonies in orange...
And a monochromatic Upsy Daisy card. You know what I just noticed? There are four stamps in the set but I've only ever used two of them! I didn't go back and look at my previous cards before I did the new card for this week, so that "wishes" stamp is making yet another appearance:
The flowers on this one are from Array of Sunshine, by coincidence yet another hostess set. This little birthday card will be going out in the mail to a sweet friend today :) I used the latest Unscripted Sketches challenge for my card:
When I copied down the sketch to take with me into my craft room, somehow I didn't draw it square so my card is the standard A2 size. I used a striped pattern instead of cutting out lots of strips for the background panel, I think that still keeps to the spirit of the sketch.
That's it for me today, folks! Have a great weekend!
Supplies, last card only:
Stamps: Heard from the Heart, Array of Sunshine
Ink: Melon Mambo, Pumpkin Pie, Garden Green
Paper: Pink Pirouette, Whisper White, Rainbow Sherbet DSP
Accessories: Labels Collection Framelits, Dimensionals

Cuppa Tea, Anyone?
Living in England for three years has left me addicted to tea. Like, I have boxes and boxes of the stuff on my kitchen counter, and during the winter I usually have at least two cups a day, and I can't keep track of all the people who have gotten tea pots as gifts from me.
I'm not 100% sure I like how the main image turned out--I colored it with markers and stamped it, and I thought the Soft Suede bits seemed ever so much darker than the Pear Pizzazz ones. Well, not every card can be your favorite, right? I do like the sketch I used though, it's courtesy of Around the World:
I even used the same shape as on the sketch, though mine was rotated 90 degrees.
Happy Thursday and thanks for stopping by today. I think I'm going to go make myself a cuppa to start the day...

Ink: Pear Pizzazz, Soft Suede, Blushing Bride

A Daring Adventure
Wow, was it nice to get back in my craft room yesterday! I'm somewhat astonished by how fast chaos crept in there though, especially given that I wasn't hardly even in there at all for a couple of weeks. I did see my girl dog Sadie in there several times, so maybe she was the agent of chaos, hmm. Anyway, I made a new card!
One of my friends is moving to Germany next month, and she asked if I could make some "we're moving" cards for her. That "daring adventure" quote is Sarah all over (and, in fact, this is the whole reason why I bought Daring Adventure when it hit the clearance rack, I just didn't get to make her a sample until now), so I hope she likes this.
I think I'm in love with the color combination of Pistachio Pudding, Pool Party, and Island Indigo. The mappy background has a bit of Pistachio Pudding and Pool Party on it--I scribbled on my largest acrylic block, misted, and stamped it on the white cardstock to give a soft watercolor background. After it dried, I stamped the map on top in Island Indigo...I kinda wish the watercolor part was a leetle bit stronger but what can ya do.
Do you like the layout? I do. It's a slightly tweaked version of this week's Mojo Monday sketch:
And since both Daring Adventure and World Map are new additions to my collection, I think this counts for the SUO Challenge to use new toys.
Thanks for stopping by today! Stamp happy, peeps. I plan to do just that today!

Nachos: Good Thoughts
Good morning, Nacho fans! I forgot to write this post and schedule it before I went to bed last night so I'm a teensy bit tardy getting this online, but this week the Nachos have a great color challenge for ya!
Love those colors. They're kinda summery, don't you think? Here's what I did with them:
It's really simple, but I kinda like it. I thought the Woodgrain EF made a good sorta wavy background to go with my seashells. I love Perfect Pennants and the matching Framelits...and now that my giant comprehensive exam is over and done with, I can play with all my stampy goodies guilt-free 'cause I don't have to study anymore. Wheeeee!
Ok, so now it's your turn! Head on over to the Nacho Average Challenges blog to see what my fellow Nachos cooked up, and then go make something pretty!
Supplies, all SU!
Stamps: By the Tide, Perfect Pennants
Ink: Bermuda Bay, Chocolate Chip
Paper: Bermuda Bay, Chocolate Chip, Very Vanilla, Watercolor Wonder DSP
Accessories: Pennants Collection Framelits, Woodgrain EF, Dimensionals

Sunshine Florets
The day is upon me...comprehensive exam day. I'm hoping that I do well enough on this test that I'll pass it all in one go and not have to take it again in March. Today I've got a sunny cheery card that hopefully will send me some positive vibes while I type my little hands off on four giant essay questions.
I hope that today is sunny wherever you are, friends! Thanks for stopping by today.

Friday Flashback: Letters of Love
Happy Friday! Are you ready for the Friday Flashback? It's a short one today; the randomly drawn retired stamp set of choice is Letters of Love (really, I don't know how I managed to draw two Valentine sets in a row). It was a hostess set a while back and before today I'd never made anything with it. However, I feel less guilty about that because I didn't pay for it (in fact, I think it was a gift?) and I'm not really sure it's my style, and even the SCS gallery for it is tiny. That said, I do like the card I made today:
I found a scrap of More Amore DSP to start with, and then added in a few more colors that I thought might kinda work together to make a sort of Warhol-esque Valentine. I like this simple layout, too.
Anyway, I have dogs to walk and books to study. I cannot wait for next Tuesday when I'm DONE with this test! Thanks for stopping by today!
Supplies, all SU!
Stamps: Letters of Love (who even knows when this retired? It's pretty old)
Ink: Lucky Limeade, Real Red, Primrose Petals, Pool Party, Wisteria Wonder, Pink Pirouette
Paper: Pool Party, Primrose Petals, Wisteria Wonder, Very Vanilla, More Amore DSP
Accessories: Dimensionals

Kyoto Garden
Four more days to study for this stupid exam...bleargh! And here's one more scrapbook layout. Man, I can't wait to get back in my craft room for some fun creative time.
You can see my original blog post about these pictures here. I love that picture of the two ladies dressed up as geishas (we had the distinct impression that they were just playing dress-up and having a photo shoot rather than being real geishas); I had a 5x7 of it but silly me I forgot that when I was working on this layout. Oh well. We've also got an enlargement of that picture hanging up in our living room.
Thanks for stopping by today! Now back to studying, ick.
Supplies:
Stamps: Four Frames, Kanji
Ink: Baked Brown Sugar, Wild Wasabi, Blue Bayou, Night of Navy marker
Paper: Baked Brown Sugar, Very Vanilla, Porcelain Prints DSP (retired)
Accessories: Decorative Label punch

Venice
Ok, so posting all these pics of the scrapbook layouts I did in October and November is making me itch to get back to scrappin', so I'd better pass this exam in one go so I don't have to worry about studying anymore. Let's take a trip to Venice, shall we?
I had too many good photos for just one layout so I did two.
You can see the pics bigger and my original blah-blah about them here and here. Meanwhile, I should be studying.
Thanks for stopping by!

Nachos: Straight to My Heart
Happy Tuesday! Ready for another Nacho Average Sketch Challenge? Here it is:
I won't lie, this one *was* a challenge for me! But here's what I came up with:
New product alert! I used one of the super-cute Valentine stamp sets, Love You More, for the main image and some Retro Fresh DSP from the brand spankin' new Occasions catalog to go with it. I took my color combo straight from the DSP: Coastal Cabana, Tangerine Tango, and Baked Brown Sugar. Lemme tell ya, I am LOVING the DSP in the new Occasions catalog; I got one of every set except High Tide (which I might get later anyway to go with my seashell stamps, haha!).
So that's it for me today, let's see what you've got! Check out the other Nachos' cards on the Nacho Average Challenges blog and then give the sketch a whirl! Ta-ta for now, peeps!

Glastonbury Abbey
So I've got one more week from today until I take that dreaded comprehensive exam, urgh! I haven't studied all weekend either, so it's time to hit the books. But next week I can start posting all-new stuff again instead of dipping into my draft post pile :) So here's a scrapbook layout (click to embiggen):
In 2011, hubs and I took a road trip to Cornwall and then up to Warwick and Stratford-upon-Avon; Glastonbury Abbey is kind of between Cornwall and Warwick and is supposedly where King Arthur and Queen Guinevere are buried (according to one very PR-savvy monk who used the tale to raise lots and lots of money to rebuild the abbey after a disastrous fire). You can see my original blog posts (and lots more pictures of the abbey ruins) here and here.
Supplies, all SU!
Stamps: Four Frames, Hello Lovely
Ink: Night of Navy, Summer Starfruit, Marina Mist, Garden Green
Paper: Night of Navy, Smoky Slate, Whisper White, Sycamore Street DSP
Accessories: Decorative Label punch, Oval Framelits

Friday Flashback: Dream Come True
Hey, it's the first Friday Flashback of the new year! And I've got a lovely stamp set to feature today, it's Dream Come True, which is appropriate since Valentine's Day is right around the corner. So let's flashback!
This is from way, way back before I was a demonstrator; we did this at a stamp club held by my upline. I still think it's cute, though it would be better if the Whisper White ink pad was inked up better.
Made this one for my hubs when I was still pretty new to stamping, I mean come on that color combo! Not working. The other hearts are from Happy Hearts and the "love" is stamped with the lower case Whimsical Alphabet.
Ok, so here's my favorite creation with this stamp set, and it's a CAS card. I think it took me two or three tries to get the stripey background bit and the "dream come true" stamped where I wanted them on the Shimmery White card base, but once I got that part done right I totally loved this card.
I made a little 8x8 new mom advice book for a baby shower, and this was one of the layouts. The smaller hearts are from You & Moi, and I had fun looking up lots of baby quotes to go in this book.
So that's it for the flashback part, here's today's new card:
Now *there* is a color combo I can get on board with: Strawberry Slush, Pear Pizzazz, and Lavender Lace. SU! needs some new mid-tone purples that aren't tinged gray (though Wisteria Wonder can be lovely). I think SU! needs more purples, period, and maybe a great emerald green. I'm excited to see what this year's new In Colors will be in a few months.
So that's it for today's Friday Flashback, hope y'all have a great weekend! I gotta go either clean my house or study. It's really a toss-up.
Supplies, last card only:
Stamps: Dream Come True
Ink: Strawberry Slush, Pear Pizzazz, Lavender Lace
Paper: Strawberry Slush, Shimmery White
