Scrappy Monday, y'all!  Slightly behind because this morning I was going through pictures from our excursions yesterday, so I actually posted on my other blog!  Woohoo!  We had a fun weekend, hope you did too.

I've got a fun summery layout to share today!

Aww, Ryan was so widdle in these pictures :)  I need to get back in the scrapping groove, I've been making a lot of cards but I miss scrapping too.  So I'm going to write this fast so I can get up to my craft room before it's time to pick Ryan up from daycare.

I had fun busting out some retired colors for this layout, namely Watermelon Wonder for the page base and Tempting Turquoise for the patterned paper, which I paired with Pacific Point, Daffodil Delight, and Whisper White.  Watermelon Wonder is such a fun color, I need to play with it some more.  Okay, that's it, I'm going to my craft room.  Cheers, y'all!

Friday Flashback: Starburst Sayings

Happy Friday!  It is time once more for the Friday Flashback, and today's featured stamp set is Starburst Sayings, which seems kinda appropriate to kick off the 4th of July weekend.  So let's take a whirl through the archives, and if all you want to see is today's new card then scroll to the bottom :)

Starting off with this lovely map card.  I wish that SU! had done some more stamp sets (or even just one more!) to coordinate with the Starburst dies before they retired them all, but oh well.

My SIL's birthday is on July 5th, so I'm going to send this out to her ASAP for her birthday.  Hey, it looks like this is the first time I used the little celebrate stamp so woohoo for me!  The fireworks and star stamps are from a stamp set called July Fourth.

2015 Showcase, Part 1

Since it's the last week of December (already!), it's time for the 2015 showcase here at Snapdragon Stamps.  So I went back through my blog posts for this year and picked out one card and one scrapbook layout for each month (okay, sometimes there were ties) just to share my favorites one more time.  So let's start off with Part 1 of the card showcase.

January's pick:  I love this happy card.  That "oh, happy day" stamp just makes me smile.

February's pick has Valentine-y colors and some pretty lotus blossoms.  I like how it turned out to do the first layer of the flower stamping with white ink.

March's pick:  By the Seashore has long been a fave stamp set, and I just love that patterned paper from last year's Sale-a-Bration.

April's pick is this giant Swallowtail paired with some stamps from Tea Party.  I love the watercolor background for the butterfly and those are my colors.  Spoiler alert:  new tea-related goodness is coming up in the Occasions Mini next week!

May's pick is this coral rose card.  It's an advertisement for why I don't get rid of my retired stamp sets:  I love that rose and the sentiments.  Plus, if I sold off all my retired stuff, how would I do Friday Flashbacks?

And for the last one of the day, June's pick is this bouquet card I CASEd from the catalog.

You know what day it is.  Nacho Average Challenges Day!  And this week we've got a great sketch for you:

Yep, fun.  I got out one of my soon-to-be retiring favorite stamps and made this:

Tempting Turquoise is officially the last of my new ink pads to get out of the wrapper.  And for some reason it doesn't seem to photograph really well; I had problems with Bermuda Bay looking really dull too, but IRL this card is bright and cheery and fun.  I've got a friend who just got engaged, and another one who just told me she's having twins, so I need to make another one of these so I can send one to both ladies :)  Multi-purpose congratulations card.

Check out the Nacho blog and you'll see one of my design teammates had the same idea I did...she even used the same pack of patterned paper and Tempting Turquoise for her main stamp.  But our cards still look different :)  Your turn next!  You don't have to use Starburst Sayings, though.  Cheers, peeps!

Lloyd the Lumberjack

Howdy, peeps!  I'm feeling much better today, I'm happy to report.  But for the past few days I've been doing battle with my patterned paper scraps...as my DSP collection has edged toward the ridiculous, so too has my stack o' scraps, and it was taking me forever and a day to find the scraps I wanted.  So I fixed that.  Sure, it took three days, but now I'm Organized.

So today's card is one I made a while back, once more for Missy because she still doesn't love Lloyd the Lumberjack.  (Lloyd the Llumberjack?)

My mother is concerned that Lloyd's pants are very tight, and colored in with Coastal Cabana I have to admit they look like manpris.  But I like Lloyd anyway.

Eastern Influences

My pick for May is this scrapbook layout of the Golden Pavilion in Kyoto, Japan.  Some great pictures that I'm so glad are immortalized on a scrapbook layout, and a great excuse to use some of my favorite colors :)  However, I couldn't pick just one project for May, so here's a bonus:

Hello Lovely, Nacho card!

This card took under 5 minutes to make and I still love it.  That patterned paper is workin', y'all!  Proof that a really cute card doesn't have to take forever.

June's pick is this travel-inspired card, which I immediately sent to a friend who travels so much that she makes me and the hubs look like shut-ins.  In three years, she and her hubs visited 50 countries!

My July pick is yet another Nacho card, this time anniversary roses.  I do love those roses.

2014 Showcase, Part 1

Howdy, stampers!  As 2014 winds to a close, I thought I'd take a look back at all the stuff I've posted here for the past year and pick a favorite project for each month.  So instead of a Friday Flashback this week, here's the 2014 Showcase, Part 1!  And lemme just pat myself on the back here, haha.

Features Snow Swirled

For January, I chose this snowy layout.  I love the bright blue with the three pastel colors, and I love those photos from our house in England.  And I miss snow.  I think I've worn a jacket like, maybe three times since we moved to Alabama.  Okay, maybe four.

February's pick is this bright and fun birthday card (even though there's a dog hair stuck in the middle of it in the photo).  Plus this blog post was one of the funniest ever I think; this is what happens when I blog late at night.

My March pick is all about the butterflies.  It's hard for me to do CAS cards, but this one just worked for me.  And who wouldn't want to get a butterfly smile in the mail?

My April card is also butterfly-riffic, this time giant size.  I love bright fun happy colors and that Nacho color challenge delivered bright, fun, and happy in spades!  And you know what?  Three out of four projects I picked for this post were Nacho cards!  Love the Nacho challenges.

Nachos: Hello, My Name Is...

Greetings, Nacho fans!  It is time again for an awesome color combo courtesy of Nacho Average Challenges.

I kind of want an outfit in these colors, is that weird?

So before I show you today's card (unless you're scrolling right past all this blah-de-blah to get to the good stuff), I should tell you that I love to quote movies in everyday conversation.  My absolute favorite quotable movies are Ghostbusters and The Princess Bride.  So you might know where this is going already...

I couldn't help it, the idea popped in my head when I was looking at the "Hello My Name Is" stamp from Starburst Sayings, and I just HAD to make it!  And I laughed the whole time I was working on it.  I can't be the first person to have thought of this (after all, Starburst Sayings has been out for a while) but I haven't yet seen another card where someone else did the Princess Bride quote.  I also stamped more words on the inside...

I think I'll send this one to my dad.  I know, it says "You killed my father" on the front, but Dad loves that movie too and he'll totally get it and I betcha money he'll say "Prepare to die!" just reading the front of the card, which is why I put "You know the rest!" on the inside.  The letters are from the new Alphabet Rotary stamp, which is pretty nifty that you can spell out words or phrases by twisting the rotary stamp.  I had to practice a bit before I got the letters to stamp out all the way--I kept not getting the bottom of the letters to show, you have to rock the stamp up and down a bit to make sure you get the whole letter to stamp at once.

My little brother has a plain white T-shirt that has one of those "Hello, My Name Is" stickers printed on the chest of it, with Inigo Montoya written on it.  So you know, clearly this movie is a family favorite.

The 100th Nacho Challenge!

Yep, it's a special occasion week for the Nachos--our 100th challenge!  So instead of having a new sketch or color combination for you, the challenge is to take a past sketch or color combination (or both!) and make something new.  I chose a couple of recent challenges...

Yeeeeahhh I'm kind of in love with this color combination.

I can't seem to get the sentiment in the same place as on the sketches lately, but this is the one I chose and then I turned it 90 degrees.

And there it is!  This is my little thank you to the challenge chasers who check out our lil' challenge blog every week and make such beautiful creations.  I used to participate pretty frequently before I was invited to be on the Design Team, and it's been such fun!  Hope you have fun with it too.

Howdy, Nacho fans!  Are you ready for a great summery color combo?  Because that's what we've got for you at Nacho Average Challenges this week!

 I love me some bright happy colors!  And my dear mama's birthday is tomorrow, so I think this might be her birthday card!

I'm kind of in love with that chevron pattern.  And Starburst Sayings.  And Candy Dots.  I think the only way I'd like this card better is if I'd coated the main image in Iridescent Ice to make it all sparkly, but sadly I just thought of that right now.  I think my mom will forgive the lack of glitter.

I haven't made a tent topper card in a long time, but it was a sketch challenge a month or so ago on Splitcoast so it was fun to do again : )  I wish the Starburst and Circles Framelits were a little better sized for layering, but I think what I ended up with ain't too bad.

The small chevron pattern under the sentiment stamp is from a past My Paper Pumpkin kit, I like having a much smaller chevron than the Positively Chevron background.  Ok, I admit, I haven't actually put together any of the Paper Pumpkin kits, but at least I occasionally use the stamps : D

Nachos: Fresh Prints (of Bel Air) Birthday

*singsong voice* It's time for a Nacho sketch challenge!  Behold:

I thought this would be a great sketch for using up some smallish scraps of patterned paper, and lucky for me, when I opened up my box o' DSP scraps, I found lots of Fresh Prints (of Bel Air) bits just waiting to be made into a card.  I knew I was saving all those long skinny scraps for something!

Please ignore the dog hair stuck on the middle of the card.  How the heck did that even get on there?!  I'll tell you how, it's like the sign my friend Tiana made for me--home is where the dog hair sticks to everything but the dog!  Good grief.

Anywha, the starburst accent is only on there because I managed to smudge the white embossing powder on the bottom edge of the H while it was still warm, so I used the bitty starburst to cover it up.  I'm sure you've noticed by now that I rotated the sketch, but to save you any undue neck strain, here's the challenge graphic rotated:

I was an overachiever and did six banners on my card, but I only did one horizontal bit so let's say the second horizontal bit succumbed to gravity and turned into a banner instead.  You know what?  I shouldn't be writing blog posts this late at night.

Go check out what the other Nachos have done with this sketch, and then try it out for yourself!  As I said before, it's a great way to use up some scraps.

Get out your sunglasses, because today's card is bright!

 Nice antidote to the gray weather we've been having here lately.  No snow, just off-and-on rain and general dampness.  And then that one night that the power was out for almost two hours, that was fun.  Anyway, I think I'm in love with this Retro Fresh DSP, not to mention this is the maiden voyage for Starburst Sayings and I love that too :)  This card is heavy on the Big Shot--I used the Starburst Framelits (LOVE) for the main image and then all three of the banners are cut with the Banners Framelits (also LOVE).  I thought about doing a textured background but decided that four passes through the Big Shot was enough for one card : )

And I noticed on the linky that someone else made a card with the exact same stamps and DSP that I used!  That's okay though.  It was kind of a no-brainer with this sketch ;)
