Maine: Ranger Walk

Scrappy Monday, y'all.  As soon as I drop Ryan off at school, I'm going to pick up some cough medicine for myself--I was up most of the night coughing : (  Other than that I'm feeling a little better though!

So, scrapbook pages for today!  Continuing with the Maine album, I have two layouts.

For some reason my pictures of these layouts both ended up really dark on the left side.  We went back into Acadia National Park and did a walk with a park ranger, who told us about the history of the park and the different flora and fauna who live there.

Of course Ryan, being a toddler, wasn't interested in all that, but he did enjoy being carried on the shoulders of whoever he could cozen into lifting him up.  He looks like he was checking the hubs for nits, haha!  Ryan absolutely loved his honorary uncle Bennet, who would lift him up and sling him around like a sack of potatoes.

Another fall color palette taken straight from the Apple Cider patterned paper (which, coincidentally, I just used on another scrapbook layout!):  Really Rust, More Mustard, Wild Wasabi, Close to Cocoa, River Rock, and Very Vanilla.  All the colors except Very Vanilla are retired.  I bought more than one pack of the Apple Cider DSP because I loved it so much, and the leaf stamps from Gently Falling have been long-time favorites too.

Hiking (Okinawa)

Scrappy Monday, y'all!  Man, it was a whirlwind weekend.  We had friends visit whom we haven't seen for about 10 years, along with their 5.5-year-old son.  Uhh, why does one extra kid make the crazy level in the house rise by a factor of 3,000?!  It seemed like nonstop yelling and now we're having problems with Ryan throwing toys?!  He rarely did that before.  Yeah I'm glad the weekend is over; this introvert is peopled out.  I'm ready for some calm.

So today's layout is from Okinawa; the pics were taken in January but the colors I used ended up looking almost fall-ish.

Pretty easy-peasy layout and I had the hubs do the journaling since it was him hiking with two friends.  I love it when a layout comes together quickly and easily.

Today's color palette:  Early Espresso (I promise it's not black, just very dark brown), Grapefruit Grove, Island Indigo, Pear Pizzazz, and Whisper White.  The DSP is the Painted Seasons pack from this year's Sale-a-Bration.

Hopefully we're back to our regularly scheduled routine today, which means we've got to leave for the gym soon.  Cheers, y'all!

Oak Leaf Thanks

Hello crafty people!  It may not feel like fall outside (it was 77 degrees here yesterday, WHAT THE ACTUAL HECK it's November for cryin' out loud!) but at least it LOOKS like fall in my craft room!

This is like the card equivalent of a cozy sweater, isn't it?  I started with the Color Throwdown colors:

I used all retired colors:  Buckaroo Blue, Marigold Morning, and Chocolate Chip.  Whisper White is, of course, not retired :p Anyway, I paired that with the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches:

And the theme challenge from the Paper Players:

And finally, the Retro Rubber Challenge:

This card is so retro, everything I used is retired except the white cardstock, the adhesive, and the linen thread.  The leaf images are from Gently Falling (possibly my favorite ever leaf set), which I've had for 7 years; the sentiment is from One Big Meaning and is 2 years old; and the Linen background stamp (look closely at the Buckaroo Blue layer, it's subtle but it's there) has been in my stamp collection since dirt was new and it's 12 years old.  It's been fun to hunt through my older stamp sets and actually *use* them this week, though of course I use them all the time on my scrapbook pages.

Charming Sunrise

GUESS WHAT, Y'ALL.  Today is the 1,000th post here at Snapdragon Stamps!  One THOUSAND!  And I think that just about every single one of those posts has at least one card or scrapbook page, so that's a lot of ink and paper and stamps.  Dude!

I don't have any special celebration planned for today (oops) but I do have a new scrapbook layout for you.

Pics are from our trip to Ohio's Amish country last year; see them all here.  Our last morning in Ohio, we got up a little early and drove around taking pictures as the sun came up.  This is the last chronological layout for the Ohio trip but it's the one I made first (stay tuned for the other two coming up on our next Scrappy Mondays).

I got the Brushwork Alphabet stamp set when it first debuted this summer, but this is its maiden voyage.  You know I love me some mixed font titles.

Today's color palette:  Bashful Blue, Peekaboo Peach, Cherry Cobbler, Soft Suede, and Whisper White.

Okay, I'm off to do all the things today...walk dogs, grocery shopping, go to gym, you know the drill.  And also play with the new camera we got this weekend! :D  (Maybe that's my 1,000-post prize?  No, this is hubs' and my Christmas gift for ourselves!  Squee!)

Friday Flashback: Perfectly Penned

Hey kids.  My Friday started off with a bang--my little boy dog Vader injured himself again.  He was trying so hard to run up the stairs to get breakfast faster and he's busted his left knee this time.  So I'm stressed out and feeling bad that he's hurt and he's stuck up on the middle floor of the house until the hubs can get home and carry him downstairs.  Hope he doesn't have to tinkle...

Anyway, here I am with today's Friday Flashback, and I'm going to have to be quick because I need to be out of the house in under 10 minutes.  So here we go!

My friend Missy (a.k.a. Baylor bear extraordinaire) had a birthday earlier this week and I musta been sticking my head in the sand because I DIDN'T SEND HER A CARD and I'm very distraught about this, so I made a Baylor bear card.  But I do feel a bit guilty because this one came together really fast so maybe I should spend some more time in my craft room tomorrow and really make her a masterpiece.

Anyway, I revisited this week's Freshly Made Sketch:

I switched the main image panel to the left side so the bear would be looking into the card rather than off the side, I think about these things (comes up even more in scrapbooking).  And to add a bit of glam, I painted the balloon with clear Wink of Stella.

Are you seeing a trend with the sentiment stamp yet?  The other sentiments are perfectly good too but I seem to be drawn to that "always thinking of you one".  And for my next trick:

Yup, I used the same sentiment on today's new card.  I do love how this one turned out though, I used the color challenge from Colour Q:

Those colors just screamed FALL to me so I went with it (though I do have some flower stamps that look like the images on that phone case).  Fall is my favorite time of year; I'm looking forward to cooler temperatures, sweaters and scarves without being absolutely frozen solid, and of course fall baking.  Because Thanksgiving.  And I just love baking.  Washing the dishes afterwards, not so much :p

Gently Falling is retiring?  Say it ain't so!  But it is.  Maybe because everyone who buys SU stamps has already bought it?  Love these leaves.  Anyway, I used some already-retired colors, but you could sub in So Saffron for the Barely Banana and Cajun Craze for Dusty Durango.  I miss Barely Banana; it was similar to So Saffron, but without Saffron's muted undertone.  Oh well, I've still got a small stash of Banana cardstock.

Friday Flashback: A Word for You

Hello and welcome to today's very late Friday Flashback!  It was a crazy day today, we're trying to get our dogs' travel arrangements worked out since we're moving from England back to the States in a few months.  It's a mess.  But anyway, I have a long flashback today featuring the sentiment stamp set A Word for You.  So let's get started!

Favorites Showcase 2013, Part 2

2013 is almost over, so here we are with the second half of the 2013 favorites showcase.  Let's go!

Here's one of my picks for July, I love this card.  Always good to have some masculine cards on hand.

My second July pick; July is when I really started to get back into scrapbooking and had loads of fun with it.  I can't wait to dive back in once my exam is over on January 13th!

Here's another scrappy pick for August, from when hubs' truck got squished almost 10 years ago.  It wasn't fun at the time, but I get a kick out of looking at this layout now.  The title makes me giggle every time.

My choice for September was this awesome leafy card, I love those colors together!

Another scrappy layout for October with lots of blues for my mama!

Another great color combo for November's card, love the aquas and purple together.
