April 2021 (Ow)

SCRAPPY MONDAY, Y'ALL!  Yes, it's back!!!  I finally started scrapping again last week and it's so nice to be doing that again.  We spent Saturday painting the ceiling in the living room (and let me tell you, as not-fun as it is to paint walls, ceilings are approximately 9,000 times worse) and then yesterday I worked on a new layout.  But for today I'm sharing one I finished last summer, check it out:

Ryan took a tumble into a wall at daycare in Germany and had to go to the emergency room.  I think his daycare provider was more flustered about it than I was (to be fair, she was the one who saw/cleaned up the blood right after it happened), but I told her that pretty much everyone in my family has had to go to the ER to get stitches on their face, though Ryan lucked out and just got glue.  He doesn't seem to remember much of our time in Germany, but he remembers this happening and to this day, if he has to write a story or something for school, he frequently picks "How I Got My Scar".

Today's color palette is chock full of past In Color favorites:  Sweet Sorbet, Lemon Lime Twist, Gumball Green, Orchid Oasis, and Starry Sky, and of course some white to round things off.  I chose the panda image on the right page because Ryan looks like he needs a hug in that one picture.

Okay peeps, time to get Ryan off to school.  Cheers!

CAS Fox Kit

Mornin', y'all!  Hope you're having a good week.  I was super tired yesterday afternoon, but I did manage to make a quick card to share today.

This card was *really* quick!  It's CAS for the challenge at the Paper Players; I thought Grapefruit Grove and Cajun Craze worked well as a monochrome for this.  The gingham layer is from last year's Gingham Gala DSP; I sponged some Grapefruit Grove ink on it to tone down the white.  A few Champagne Rhinestones and it was done!  Here's the Paper Players challenge:

I have two scrapbook layouts to journal this afternoon and then I'll be up to 54 pages for this year!  Pretty dang good for February ;)

Have a great day, y'all!

Wee Baby Bunny

Hey, lookit me posting three days in a row!  I made this card with the SUO Challenge in mind, but then I decided to make the card I posted yesterday and use that for the challenge instead.  But this one is too cute not to share too!

I picked the bunny image because it was the only mama/baby pair from Wildly Happy that I hadn't used yet.  As you can see, I had the Best Dressed DSP Stack out on my table--even if you don't like the fashion-themed stuff, the flip sides of the paper feature lots of floral patterns in beautiful colors!  Aren't those watercolor blooms perfect for the sweet bunnies?  I watercolored the bunnies with Crumb Cake (mama) and Soft Suede (baby) so they'd look a bit different.

I'm entering this at the Paper Players because they have a similar challenge going right now:

My card is perfectly lovey-dovey, but once more nary a hint of red to be seen.  Maybe next time I'll bust out the red and hearts for a traditional Valentine.

Time for us to hit the gym.  Cheers, y'all!

Wee Baby Panda

Mornin' y'all!  I have been hard at work on my scrapbooks lately but yesterday I sat down and made cards for two upcoming baby showers.  So up first is the one I made for my sister-in-law, whose little boy is due on my kid's 3rd birthday :)

My brother used to collect panda stuff when he was younger so I thought this stamp from Wildly Happy was just perfect.  I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, then colored with watercolor pencils.  Pretty quick and easy.

Check out this week's sketch from Freshly Made Sketches:

I like it!  And the theme challenge from Paper Players:

Obviously I went for baby as my something new, ha.  Although I still have a pile of new stamps I need to play with!  However, my goal this year is to focus on scrapbooking rather than cards (I have a large pile of cards I've made and never sent out), so most likely I won't be making as many cards this year.  I'm already up to 10 pages done for my scrapbook goal though, so that's pretty awesome.

Have a great day, y'all!

SUO Challenges: Baby Mine

Good morning stampy friends!  Sorry for the radio silence; I've been working hard on some stitching projects and haven't been in my craft room for the past couple of weeks.  But it's time for a new challenge at SUO Challenges so I had to make something!

This time the challenge is COLORING!  Lots of options for line-art stamp sets :)  Here's what I made:

I love the Wildly Happy stamp set, and this time around I decided to bust out the watercolor pencils since I hadn't worked with them in a very long time.  Happily, the colors in the See a Silhouette DSP have coordinating watercolor pencils, so I used Pacific Point, Old Olive, Basic Gray, and Basic Black to color in Mrs. Jumbo and her sweet baby.

So now it's your turn!  Make a card using Stampin' Up! products and some form of coloring, then share it over at the SUO Challenges blog.  Can't wait to see what you make!

Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black

Wee Fox Kit

Hey y'all!  Happy Friday!  I haven't been able to get in my craft room as much as I've wanted to this week, I've missed getting inky.  But I finally got in there yesterday to make a card to share today, and I got to ink up a brand new stamp set!  Lookie:

This mama and baby fox are from the stamp set Wildly Happy, which also features mama & baby elephants, bunnies, and pandas.  It's SO adorable.  And when Ryan was a teeny tiny babe, I loved *everything* foxy I could get my hands on, so yep, of course I had to buy this set.  As it happens, a friend of mine who lives down the street just recently had a baby girl, so I know who's getting this card.  The flower paper is retired, but it was just SO perfect for this so I used it anyway.  No one is going to arrest me ;p

Check out the sketch from Fab Friday:

And the color combo from Just Add Ink:

A member of their design team used the same fox stamp (uh, because it was MADE for this color combo!) but I didn't let that deter me from foxy cuteness today.  I love these colors together.

Here's to hoping that I get some craft room time this afternoon too.  I've got a box of Stampin' Up! goodies due to arrive today....

Have a great weekend, y'all!
