Take Time to Chew the Sunflowers

Mornin' y'all!  I haven't gotten to play in my craft room at all this week, but I do have a card to share nevertheless.

That goat has been sitting on my craft table for months and I finally made it up into a card last week.  I just thought he'd like to frolic in a field of sunflowers : )

That's it for me this week, have a good one y'all!

Viking Encouragement

Hey y'all, what a week this has been.  We implemented a new computer system at work starting Monday and it is...not great, shall we say.  And now we're having daycare issues too and I might have to bring Ryan to work with me today?  That should be interesting.  In the meantime, I feel like the message on today's card is kinda for me today...

I got Brave Vikings on a whim (to go along with my Pirates & Mermaids set, also bought on a whim) but how cute is Sigrid here?

Check out this week's Freshly Made Sketch:

Definitely a keeper.  And check out this week's Color Throwdown:

I used Pumpkin Pie, Granny Apple Green, Bermuda Bay, and Crumb Cake for my colors, though somehow the Bermuda Bay Blends ended up looking more like dark green?  Oh well.

Have a good day, peeps.

SUO Challenges: Bring on the HEAT

Gooooood morning, happy taco Tuesday, happy birthday to Ryan, and happy SUO Challenges day!  Lots to be happy about today :)  You ready for a new challenge?

This time we're asking you to bring on the HEAT:  do some heat embossing!  I love heat embossing, you can do so many fun things with it.  I had one idea in my mind for today's challenge, but when I sat down to work on it, a GOAT interrupted and insisted I make this instead:

I did think about making a goat card for the Paper Players challenge this week and went with a mermaid instead, so the goats from Way to Goat insisted on making a card appearance this week too.  I embossed the goat with white EP and then watercolored it with white craft ink.  The sentiment is heat embossed with gold EP to go with the gold centers on the flowers.  I just love how self-satisfied this goat looks :)  I snagged the layout idea from Lyssa Zwolanek.

Your turn!  Turn up the heat and share your heat embossed creation at the SUO Challenges blog.  Have fun!

The Dancing Goat

The Prancing Pony is the name of the pub in Lord of the Rings, right?  If I ever open a pub, Imma call it The Dancing Goat.  Coincidentally (not) my cards today feature...a dancing goat!

Ain't HE fun!  I started with this week's Global Design Project challenge:

As you can see, I was primarily inspired by the layout of the card, and I used a stamp to get the three-color watercolor wash effect on my card.  I took  my colors from the Color Throwdown:

They described the colors as yellow, orange, red, and kraft; honestly the top color looks more like a tan than yellow to me but I ended up using Bumblebee, Terracotta Tile (I like this color and I feel like I hardly played with it the last two years and now it's retiring), Cherry Cobbler, and Cinnamon Cider.  These colors feel like fall to me so I challenged myself NOT to do a fall card because I'm hard-headed like that.  Goats are hard-headed too so it all works out.

The last challenge for today is the Paper Players theme:

I tried to keep my card CAS, but it does have several layers.  And then I worried that the Challenge Police were going to come after me for not keeping it CAS enough, so I made another version:

All the same stamps and colors, but just the card base and one fussy-cut dancing goat.  Definitely CAS!  But then it felt slightly out of balance, so...

I gave him some cans.  Still CAS though, so I should be safe from the Challenge Police, haha!  The color swatches are lighter because this time I used sponges to apply ink to the stamp, and I colored the goat a little bit differently because why do it exactly the same twice in a row.  I kind of adore this sassy goat.

Hope you have a great Friday, peeps!

SUO Challenges: Animals

Happy Tuesday!  Ready for a new SUO Challenge??

This time around it's a theme--ANIMALS!  (Now you know why I decided to do a creature feature for this week's posts!)  You can do pets, wild animals, birds, sea creatures, any kind of animal.  I have LOTS of animal stamps but of course my two favorite at the moment are Zany Zebras and Way to Goat.  Well, I did a zebra card for last Friday, so....

Goats it is!  My greedy goat is gray, but I had to do a bright and fun color combo for the rest of the card--Granny Apple Green, Mango Melody, and Magenta Madness.  And I love the new color family DSP packs too, the patterns are so much fun.  I've got the Brights and the new In Colors; I've ordered the Neutrals, and I'll get the other three families soon.  For some reason these patterns have been speaking to me more than the packs from the last few years.

Anywha, now it's your turn!  Make your animal card and share it at the SUO blog for us to oooh and ahhh over.  Cheers!

Totes Ma Goats

Hey y'all, as I promised last week, I'm back with another card I made for the sketch challenge.  I inked up one of the brand-new stamp sets I was totally tickled to get in my hot little hands!

AAAAHHHH isn't that goat the CUTEST?!  The inside says "Happy birthday, you old goat!"  *snorfle* I love animal stamps and I'm glad I didn't have to decide between getting the goats or the zebras first because I love them both.  I bought the Cinnamon Cider and Just Jade Stampin' Blends too, so I used Cinnamon Cider on the goat (I'm still working on completing my Blends collection).  Uh, for reals, Cinnamon Cider might be my favorite new In Color, I'm in love with it.  I love all five of the In Colors, but this brown is just so different from any shade we've had before and I love it.

This was the first card I made for last week's CAS(E) This Sketch challenge:

And I'm entering it at Fab Friday as well:

Mindy did say use some or use them all, so I used Cinnamon Cider, Just Jade, and Misty Moonlight.  My first In Color card, the punk rock zebra, was chosen as a winner at Global Design Project and Inspire. Create. so that's exciting!  I am looking forward to playing around with these new colors some more, they're really fun.  And also looking forward to more fun goat cards, haha!

Hope y'all have a good day.  Our day got off to a rocky start involving a tub of Vicks VapoRub, a lot of laundry to do, and one naughty 3-year-old.  Last night ended with a tube of Boudreaux's Butt Paste and the same naughty 3-year-old who was supposed to be asleep.  Wish me luck for the rest of the day.  Cheers!
