Wisdom from Mrs. Roosevelt

Mornin' y'all!  Ryan had his last day of this week's camp yesterday so I got to sleep in a little...or I would have if not for Miss Daphne : p  SHE wants to get up at six even if she doesn't bother to eat her breakfast until noon.  But she's cute.

Anyway, I was looking for something in my stamp library yesterday and I came across Favorite Thoughts and had to make a card with it immediately, so here it is:

Isn't that a great quote?  I saw it and immediately thought of the Have a Cuppa DSP Stack since I remembered it had tea bag patterns, and then I had to stamp the large teacup from A Nice Cuppa  to go with the latest challenge at Color Hues:

I used Polished Pink and Bermuda Bay for my colors, though the ribbon on the tag is actually Pretty in Pink.  I need to ink up my Polished Pink ink pad.  I also used the sketch from CAS Colours & Sketches:

Since a.) I don't like making square cards and b.) my tag tie is large and in charge, I did a standard A2 card instead of the square shown in the sketch.  I wanted to put some little gems on there but I resisted the urge since this is a CAS challenge.

That's it for now, peeps.  I'm going to try to get Daphne to eat her breakfast, wish me luck.  We think she's holding out in case we decide to give her treats instead, but it's not going to work AND I won't take her for a walk until she eats either.  So there.  Cheers!

Getting Into Hot Water

Mornin' y'all.  I got a letter from a friend last week and she's having a really tough time right now (to say the least), and since I can't fly to where she is and give her a hug, I decided to send her some tea and chocolate.  And a card.

I love a nice cuppa tea when I'm not feeling quite the thing (and lots of times when I feel just fine, thankyouverymuch) which is why I decided to send my friend some tea.  And a fancy new teacup too.  I pulled out a lot of retired stuff for this one : )

My starting point was the sketch from Sunday Stamps:

I was looking for some different patterned paper so I could make this card to fit in another challenge too, but I ran across the Tea & Crumpets paper from a looooong time ago and I took a left turn to use it.  I need to get the package all ready to go and mail it off; I hope it makes my friend smile even if I can't do anything to fix her problems.

Cheers, y'all!

Friday Flashback: Nature's Pace

Happy Friday afternoon, y'all!  I'm finally here with the Friday Flashback, and this week's stamp set is Nature's Pace.  If you look at that link, I made the index card for the set but I didn't include it here :)  So let's see what else I've got!

One of my last England layouts.  I only remember that field of purple flowers being there for our last spring in England.

Also features Vintage Verses

I think this was for a Splitcoast sketch challenge, and I didn't really like how it turned out, but at least I used a different stamp from Nature's Pace besides the thistle.

Also features Field Flowers

Because I really like that thistle.

Also features Field Flowers

Like, a lot.  So I had to use it again for today's new card:

For this one, I thought I'd go for a different look on the thistle and I embossed it with pewter EP on Elegant Eggplant cardstock.  A sentiment and some patterned paper later, and I had a finished card thanks once again to the Retro Rubber sketch:

I happened across Favorite Thoughts for the sentiment while perusing my stamps and I thought I hadn't used it in a long time so why not.  Don't know who I'll send this card to but I think it's fun :)  Anyway, I've had Nature's Pace since 2012 and Favorite Thoughts since 2010, so they're both nice and retro.

That's it for me this week, y'all.  Well, except for tomorrow's baby book post.  Cheers and have a great weekend!
