Cozy Bunnies

Mornin' y'all!  Man, I had a bad headache for most of the day yesterday and it was still lingering this morning, but I wanted to do some yoga anyway.  That first downward dog had me thinking that I'd made a mistake because my head went UUUGGGHHHHH but by the end of the 30 minutes I was actually feeling better.  I think I'll try yoga again next time I have a headache and see if it happens again, because that's gotta be better for me than taking Excedrin Migraine all the time and it's better than just trying to wait it out.

Anyway, perhaps because of the headache (probably), I was having some difficulty in my craft room yesterday but finally produced this:

Which I made for the Inspired By... challenge:

I have a stamp in the long-retired set Morning Cup that is a teapot of the same style as in the inspo pic, so I started out with that, but then it just looked out of place on the bunny paper and I decided that my stamping should be a big sentiment.  Couldn't find anything that fit what I wanted in my current stamps, but I liked this sentiment from Suite Seasons which I thought fit the vibe of the inspo pic.  I think I'll still try this challenge again this afternoon to see if I can do something tea-related.  Y'all know I love my tea.

But first, I have to take Daph-Daph for her daily inspection tour (the hubs and the kid went to Home Depot so it's just us girls), and then I have several errands to run, including taking a look at some paint colors because we're going to be painting the house this year.  Like, the whole thing.  (Inside, not outside.)  I have colors in mind for most of the rooms (I get to pick because I can visualize and he can't) and he voted to start in the kitchen.  Don't know when the actual painting process will start but I'm hoping we get everything painted this year.

Anyway, Daphne is getting anxious to go and time's a-wastin' so I'm out.  Cheers!

2016 Showcase, Part 3

Mornin' kids, welcome to the last post in the 2016 showcase, at least for cards.  I think I'll pick out some favorite scrapbook layouts over the next few days too because it's fun to go back and look at those (which is the whole reason I make them, right?).  So let's get started.

October's pick is this Halloween card featuring Agnes, whom I dearly love (along with her pals Frankie and Vlad).

And I really liked two cards for December, the first one being this Christmas Magic train.

Hey kids, I was Not Feeling It yesterday but happily today I am back in my craft room for some fun.  Here's a quick card I made this morning:

It doesn't show up so great in the photo, but the hearts are punched out of glimmer paper.  I thought I had a scrap of gold glimmer but after I got them on the card I think it's more the champagne color.  Looks better IRL.  Anyway, I started with the Global Design Project color challenge:

Easy peasy since those are the colors in the Candy Cane Lane DSP!  I paired it with the Mojo Monday sketch:

I tried doing one larger heart accent on the side, but then I had to move the sentiment panel over so much that you couldn't tell it was houses on the right (the perils of using a large print on a wee card front) so instead I did three tiny hearts instead of one large accent as shown on the sketch.

I'm gonna finish up my lunch here and go back downstairs to start a new project!  I'm very excited, I've managed to track down at least one copy of every Christmas letter that I've written since hubs and I got married in 2003.  So before I have a chance to lose them, or Baby Sodapop sucks up all my brain cells, I'm going to put those all in a Christmas scrapbook album I've had since I worked at a scrapbook store in college.  I've been meaning to do this since we got married, and Today Is The Day!  Cheers!

Suite Sweet

Well, today did not go like I had planned.  I left the house at 11:30, thinking I'd go pick up a prescription real quick, head to the gym for a bit, and come home to grab lunch and then work in the craft room this afternoon.  It took almost TWO HOURS to get the prescription, I ended up at Pizza Hut for lunch, but I did still make it to the gym (only to be depressed that walking on the treadmill now makes me out of breath because of the beach ball belly thing).  But I didn't get cleaned up until after 4:00, it gets dark here at 4:30 and hey here it is 5:30 and I'm doing my blog post!  I got into an argument with the computer when it downloaded a picture from my camera and then acted like it didn't know where it was.

Yep, it's been a day.  And I still have to make dinner.

What's nice is that today's card came together in under ten minutes and I think it's still perfectly cute.

I think the main reason I got Suite Seasons was for that sugar & spice stamp, so I was happy to use it along with some cute patterned paper.  I'm ignoring that it's November 30 and I don't like to start Christmas anything until December first.  At least I waited till after Thanksgiving.

Anyway, I'm off to work on uploading pictures to Winkflash while they're still doing their 60% off Cyber Monday sale, and then start dinner.  And at least tomorrow I don't have to go to the pharmacy.

More Nacho Gratitude

Hey kids!  It's week two of the Nachos gratitude theme challenge:

Isn't that a beautiful picture?  I love Thanksgiving, I really do, and it makes me sad that every year it gets forgotten thanks to the Christmas juggernaut that now starts rolling even before Halloween.  Ugh.  Is it weird that I like Thanksgiving better than Christmas?  The colors are better, for one thing.

Okay so I got the idea for this color combination when I was out and about somewhere and I made a note of it in my phone, does anyone else do that?  It might look black in the picture, but the darkest color is actually Elegant Eggplant, and I paired it with Always Artichoke (just a smidge), lots of Delightful Dijon, and then a bit of Soft Suede for the tree trunk and a wee bit of sponging around the main image panel.  Eggplant, Dijon, and Artichoke...sounds like a weird veggie side dish for Thanksgiving, dunnit?

Anyway, I just got Suite Seasons last Friday because it's ON SALE this month (always a good thing!) and one thing I've learned from Brian King is that you can make beautiful cards where the focal point is a sentiment instead of an image.  On this card the image and sentiment kinda get equal billing, but Brian was a big reason why I got that stamp set since it was on sale.  I do like his style.

One last thing:  I used now-retired Candy Dots on this because I still have a bunch of those and I haven't invested in all the packs of the enamel shapes.  Actually I only have the metallics so far.  I still kinda miss the Candy Dots though.
