Botanical Bounty, Part 2

Happy afternoon, y'all, and welcome to my second post of the day because I have more botanical cards for the CAS on Friday challenge!  Here's where we're starting:

I had pulled out Nature's Pace because I was looking at the greeting in that set for a Nancy Drew card (did not use it though), and I just really like that thistle image so I thought I'd make a card with it.  I used a scrap of Enchanté DSP and stamped the image and the greeting in Soft Succulent.  The color in the DSP is Sage Shadow, but that's kinda like a lighter version of Soft Succulent anyway.  My very old Sage Shadow ink pad is probably pretty dried out and I didn't want to dig out the ink refill.

And one more (for now):

I was thinking of the Midnight Flora suite that's on preorder now (mine gets here tomorrow!) so I used Darling Duckling for the card base and stamped the ferns with Mossy Meadow.  Same greeting as before, this time on Basic Beige.

I think that's it for today.  Will there be more CAS botanical cards in my near future?  Probably.  I just thought of another stamp set that really needs to get inked up.  Cheers!

Scrappy Monday, y'all!  I'm waiting for my tea to steep so I can have my breakfast.  Yes, I'm drinking tea even though it's still ridiculously hot here for the end of October.  Seriously, it was over 80 degrees yesterday!

Anyway.  On to today's scrapbook pages!

See the pictures up close here.  In late November 2011, the hubs and I took the train up to Edinburgh along with my parents and Bennet and Missy.  As you can tell, I'm still very behind on my scrapbooks, but I'm working on it.  This year's Mosaic Mood DSP worked well with my pictures and I had to bust out my long-retired thistle stamp from the stamp set Nature's Pace because Scotland.

Today's color palette:  Crushed Curry, Garden Green, Terracotta Tile (it is not that pinkish IRL), Mint Macaron, and Very Vanilla.  Once again my scrapbook pages mysteriously end up green and gold when Missy is on them.

Friday Flashback: Nature's Pace

Happy Friday afternoon, y'all!  I'm finally here with the Friday Flashback, and this week's stamp set is Nature's Pace.  If you look at that link, I made the index card for the set but I didn't include it here :)  So let's see what else I've got!

One of my last England layouts.  I only remember that field of purple flowers being there for our last spring in England.

I think this was for a Splitcoast sketch challenge, and I didn't really like how it turned out, but at least I used a different stamp from Nature's Pace besides the thistle.

Like, a lot.  So I had to use it again for today's new card:

For this one, I thought I'd go for a different look on the thistle and I embossed it with pewter EP on Elegant Eggplant cardstock.  A sentiment and some patterned paper later, and I had a finished card thanks once again to the Retro Rubber sketch:

I happened across Favorite Thoughts for the sentiment while perusing my stamps and I thought I hadn't used it in a long time so why not.  Don't know who I'll send this card to but I think it's fun :)  Anyway, I've had Nature's Pace since 2012 and Favorite Thoughts since 2010, so they're both nice and retro.

I Shall Miss England

Mornin', peeps!  Oyyy, I stayed up too late last night :(  Still gotta get with it this morning and go do my run!  But first let's check out some scrapbook pages from about a year ago.

This is a field and an old church that wasn't too far away from our house in England; see the original pics here.  While going through my 12x12 cardstock a while ago, I discovered I have an entire package of Pale Plum and I'd never even opened it, so I broke it out for last week's Time for Tea layout and this one.  One of the advantages of scrapping non-chronologically is I can use a color combo I like on multiple layouts and they won't be close to each other :)

Title closeup.  The patterned paper is Summer Starfruit, which was a big surprise for me--I was actually looking for a pattern in green (I was going to try Gumball Green or Wild Wasabi) and neither one of the greens was working, but somehow the Summer Starfruit just seemed to work.  It was a surprise because it's not a color I gravitate toward at ALL.  But I like it on here!

My color palette:  Pale Plum, Orchid Opulence, Summer Starfruit, Handsome Hunter, Wild Wasabi, and Very Vanilla.  Love me some purple and green together.

Friday Flashback: Vintage Verses

Howdy folks and welcome to this week's Friday Flashback!  I'm a little late getting my post done today, but I've been distracted...I got my preorder goodies in the mail today and I just *had* to have a sit-down with the new catty before I could do anything else.  But I'm ready to go now and this week's randomly chosen retired stamp set is Vintage Verses from last year's Sale-a-Bration!  What's with all the former SAB sets lately?  I don't know, they were all chosen from the proverbial hat.

Ok, I admit, this is one of my favorite cards ever.  Gotta love the giant butterfly.

And this one...is not my favorite.  Well, they can't *all* be winners.  So that's it for the Flashback, here's today's new card:

You can see I kinda love that little "Just because" stamp :)  And I had to give the World Treasures peacock a little more love since he's on his way to blissful retirement in Jamaica.  That peacock panel was a pain though; I had three different tries at polished stone and one try at doing something on watercolor paper before this one kind of worked.  The Old Olive ink refill muddied the Bermuda Bay too much when I tried to use them together for polished stone, Bermuda Bay was too dark by itself, but Bermuda Bay plus Coastal Cabana seemed to work okay.

I used almost the right colors for this week's Color Throwdown:

I accidentally used Old Olive instead of Lucky Limeade; this is what happens when I try to do color challenges from memory.  I think the Old Olive is close enough for me to be safe from the Challenge Police though.  I also used this week's Retro Sketch:

That one I stuck pretty close to, except all my card elements are bigger than they are on the sketch.

And now it's time for me to dive in with the new In Colors and have some fun.  My fingers are already stained blue and green, so I'm a happy stamper!

Vintage Bee

We're going vintage today at Snapdragon Stamps.  At least, it looks vintage to me:

That bee stamp reminds me of Victorian-era books about the natural world, what do you think?  I was using another old SCS sketch challenge and needed a sentiment that would fit on the bottom panel, and Vintage Verses was still out from yesterday's card.  Somehow even with the SAMJ, it took me three tries to get the sentiment on there kinda straight...I'm that special that I can stamp crooked even with the SAMJ.

The color combo is from Dynamic Duos, though I did use an awful lot of Soft Suede too...

Thistle Do Nicely

Last year, my husband and I visited Edinburgh, Scotland, with my parents and some friends (my dad totally loves all things Scotland).  The thistle is a national symbol of Scotland, and we saw several shops with punny thistle names, my favorite one being Thistle Do Nicely.  When Nature's Pace was released with the thistle stamp, I had to get it.  Now all I need is some tartan DSP to go with it...hmm!

Really simple card, just inked up the image with markers and cut it out with Framelits.  A bit of piercing around the mat for extra interest and there you have it!
