Playful Boo

Midnight greetings, spooky friends!  I am trying really hard to get back in my craft room despite the post-surgery fatigue...my surgeon said I would be feeling tired for 4 to 6 weeks after surgery and I do NOT want to sleep through October, so that's a bit of a bummer.  At least I still have lots of Hex-Travaganza cards to share, like this one!

I paired last year's cute Playful Ghosts stamp set with some very, very old DSP (Cast-a-Spell, still one of my favorites) and another eBay stamp acquisition, Scaredy Cat.  Put that all together with a CASE-ing Tuesday Sketch:

Anyone else remember when SU! had all the different colors of embossing powder?  I still like to play with them on occasion, I probably have at least ten different colors.  I also dug out the old Candy Dots embellishments for some Perfect Plum accents.

Stay spooky, friends!

Supplies, all SU!
Stamps:  Scaredy Cat, Playful Ghosts
Ink:  Versamark, Perfect Plum, Stampin' Blends in Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive, Pretty in Pink, Daffodil Delight, Ivory
Paper:  Perfect Plum, Basic Black, Thick Basic White, Cast-a-Spell DSP
Accessories:  Tangerine Tango EP, Dimensionals, Perfect Plum Candy Dots

SUO Challenges: Tricks AND Treats!

Hey y'all, guess what?  It's time for a new challenge from SUO Challenges!

Get ready....get set...here it is!

And because I was indecisive I went with tricks AND treats : )  So here's my trick card:

Okay it's really not tricky at all but it is a Halloween card.  I thought that Nested Essentials die shape gave coffin vibes so I had to use it with the vampire ghost.  The card base and the sentiment circle are Blackberry Bliss, not black, it showed up extra dark in my photo for some reason.

Next up, a treat:

Let's be real here, if this was truly representative of how I eat pumpkin pie, you wouldn't be able to see the pie for all the whipped cream ; )  I was inspired by this card by Amy Koenders and took my layout from there.  There was a pie-tastic color challenge recently at Hand Stamped Sentiments and I had so much fun with it the first time that I had to have a second go.

We hope you'll join us for this challenge.  What do you think, tricks or treats...or possibly both?  Have fun and don't forget to upload your card at the SUO Challenges blog!

Pumpkin Joy

Mornin' y'all, how goes the week?  I told Ryan we have to go run some errands today and he's not too happy about it, but we're going anyway : )  That's what he gets for being on fall break, I can't do grocery shopping when he's at school.  Ha!

Anyway, I got some time in my craft room yesterday to play along with some challenges.

I've got a mix of stamp sets happening today to go with the fun sketch from Freshly Made Sketches:

And I love this week's palette from The Color Throwdown:

I used Summer Splash, Pumpkin Pie, and Mossy Meadow for my colors, with some Crumb Cake for a neutral background.  For the three panels, I was able to scrounge up some scraps in each of the challenge colors and put them on white die cut from the Perennial Postage dies.  I ended up with the sentiment from Merriest Trees because it fit in the die cut I wanted to use : )

Well, my cuppa tea is almost empty so I think I shall go brew another one.  And then my hubs just sent me a request for a card for someone at his work, so I'll be working on that.  Cheers, y'all!

Sweet Pumpkin Ghost

Mornin’ y’all! Bear with me, the hubs has been bogarting the computer so I am typing this on my phone, which is a first for me. Anyway guess what? I was picked as the Featured Artist on the Color Throwdown recently!

And that means that I get to be a guest designer on this week’s challenge! Squee!! Here it is:

I read those colors as Lemon Lolly, Pretty in Pink, and Peach Pie, a pretty sweet pastel trio. But given that it’s October, I really wanted to go spooky with this palette. Here’s where I landed:

It seems like Michaels has a lot of pastel Halloween stuff right now so I went in that direction with this pumpkin ghostie from Playful Ghosts. Happily for me, the Unbounded Beauty DSP has Peach Pie and Pretty in Pink, so I chose two patterns from that and added a layer of Lemon Lolly that I stamped with Sketched Plaid.  I CASEd the layout from this card by Mary Fish.

Okay typing a blog post on my phone is tedious so I’ll add more info later. Thanks to the Color Throwdown team for inviting me to join in as a guest designer, I had so much fun!

Hey Pumpkin

Second post of the day and I feel better now that I've made something orange for the start of October : )  And also I've had two cups of tea and it's not even lunchtime yet.  Here's my quick little card:

The pumpkins are from Playful Ghosts, which I tried really hard not to get but here it is, and Warms My Heart, which I have had fun playing with a couple of times already.  I used the color challenge just posted to CAS Colours & Sketches:

In general, I am *Not A Fan* of Wild Wheat, so I figured my best bet was to use it as little as possible, ha!  So I used the dark Wild Wheat Blend for the pumpkin stems and the light one for the ground under the pumpkins, plus a single Wild Wheat Faux Glass Dot for an accent.

This card also works for the Paper Players challenge:

This time I went right down the center with patterned paper (just a scrap of Countryside Inn), die cuts, and fall.  The fun part of tic-tac-toe challenges is how many different directions you can spin the same board.

Okay, I really do need to do some actual work now getting some things ready to sell.  And later today I am hoping to start a new Halloween cross stitch project, so I'd better get that work done.  Cheers, y'all!
