Merry Tidings

Mornin' y'all!  How was your 4th of July?  The hubs and I drove out to Texas on July 1 and were reunited with our spawn:

We celebrated Mom's birthday on the 2d, and went to the annual 4th of July shindig at my brother's house where we traditionally celebrate my SIL's birthday (which is on the 5th) and shoot off fireworks (they're legal there).  Then we got up super early yesterday and drove back to Colorado.

Anyway, despite all the traveling, I do have cards to share today!  CAS on Friday wants to see Christmas in July so here it is:

I got out last year's North Pole Delivery Specialty DSP and a two-part greeting from the coordinating Jolly Delivery.  This was actually my second card, I wondered if the first one was CAS enough:

I started out with a scrap of the green postmark pattern and maybe it should have been a bit narrower to be more CAS, plus I used three of the punch-out elements from the paper and some Dear Dots so I think this might have passed out of CAS territory and into clean and layered.  Hence the second card.

So every time we go to Texas, I always try to hit up as many Half-Price Books stores as I can manage; this time I dragged my reluctant parents to EIGHT and the used book gods were very kind:

I scored around 65 books for myself, plus 18 for Ryan (he's reading the Hank the Cowdog series and I found a bunch of those), and 8 CDs.  I only have three more matte Nancy Drews to track down and I made quite a dent in my list of Hardy Boys books to acquire : )  While out shopping with my mom, I also got two pairs of earrings (on clearance), a pair of capris (on sale), and NINE pairs of shoes (free, because my mom was clearing out her closet and we wear the same size).  The hubs acquired a brand new fancy RC car and Ryan is disgruntled that he doesn't get to play with it, but we've seen how he took care of *his* RC car.

I got a slow start this morning, I was so tired after we drove all day yesterday, but I'd better get moving because we need groceries and Ryan has horse camp this afternoon.  Cheers!

Multiple Deliveries

Mornin' y'all!  I have been very lazy this morning, it's great : )  But now I'm up and I have my morning cuppa and some oatmeal, and after breakfast we're putting up the Christmas decorations.  We got Ryan's room put back together late yesterday afternoon and he's quite happy with his new yellow abode.

So!  I was working on a card for a Paper Players sketch a while back and I ended up with some cut-up parts and pieces that weren't exactly what I wanted for that specific card, but I used them to make two other cards and that's what I'm sharing today.

I love this bear and his mouse friend, they're both cutouts in the North Pole Delivery DSP as well as the candy cane postage stamp.

And here's another doggo card, similar to the one I ended up with for the sketch but a bit different dimensions on the background panels.

That's it for now, peeps.  I'm going to enjoy my morning cuppa and then get the tree down so I can be lazy for the rest of the day : )  Cheers!

Gingerbread Wishes

Mornin' y'all!  Actually it's pretty close to afternoon and yet I am still waiting on the last couple of gingerbread waffles to cook so I can shut off the waffle maker and go upstairs to help paint the guest room.  This is the first time we've tried gingerbread waffles, but I am thinking about making gingerbread muffins for breakfast on Christmas morning.  And since I still have cream cheese in my fridge, I'm thinking about making gingerbread bars sometime this week too.  I have gingerbread on the brain.

But you know what I don't think I've ever actually made?  Gingerbread cookies.  What?

I have, however, made numerous paper versions.  I made this for last week's Freshly Made Sketch:

I was quite pleased with myself for thinking of the baking sheet die cut for the blue panel on the sketch.  I chose a gingham pattern for the background because it made me think of a tablecloth (though picnics usually have red gingham, we're going with green), baked up a few paper gingerbread men and sprinkled with some peppermint accents.

And I'm just in time to play with the latest Inspired By... challenge:

The timer went off for the last waffle, so now I have to go help paint.  (That waffle recipe makes a pretty large batch, FYI).  We did the closet and ceiling in the guest room yesterday as well as the ceiling in Ryan's bathroom, and today we're painting the guest room walls.  Current plan is to do Ryan's bedroom next weekend.  Wish us luck!

Piney Christmas

Mornin' y'all!  Someone explain to me how I could go to the store yesterday *with a list* and still have to go back today and spend another $100 on groceries.  Hopefully I won't have to go back until, like, Friday or Saturday this time.

Anyway, what with one thing and another I got one lonesome little card made yesterday, and here it is.

I started with the As You See It color challenge:

That immediately brought to mind the pineflakes in the Delicate Pines bundle, and I even stamped and die cut one before I decided that today's card needed the pine sprigs and a couple of pine cones.  I chose a Christmas greeting from Jolly Delivery so I can enter this at Addicted to CAS:

I thought about adding some kind of embellishments to my card, but decided that I like it how it is so it's staying more CAS.  I did add some Wink of Stella to the pine cones like they were a bit frosty, but it's very subtle.  Hey y'all, is pinecones one word or two?  Because Blogger thinks it's two and I keep trying to type it as one word.

The hubs told me last night that he needs ten Christmas cards and this morning he needs a sympathy card, so I have my work cut out for me this afternoon.  But first, I'm sure Daphne has figured out that I just finished my tea and she is side-eyeing me to take her out for a walk.  As always : )  Love my pupster.  Cheers!

Paper Players: Give the Gift of Card Making

Happy Sunday, card-making compadres!  It is time once again for a great challenge from The Paper Players.  Jaydee has a great theme for us this time around:

And here's what I made:

Ann beat me to using this year's North Pole Delivery DSP with its cute doggos delivering gifts, so I decided to pull out the Beary Christmas DSP featuring cute polar bears instead (and actually I made this before I did the polar bear card set I shared last week).  When I make cards for design teams, I always want to do something different than the other DT members so you see a variety of cards : )  So Beary Christmas it is for today.  I loved that pattern with the gifts on it so I started with that and built up my card from there.  The polar bear is cut from one of the DSP patterns, and the greeting is from this year's Jolly Delivery.

Magical Elf

Happy Friday, y'all!  How was your Thanksgiving?  We are enjoying our time with friends and I have a fun card to share today:

I tried to resist the Festive Friends bundle, I really did, but these little dudes are SO CUTE!  There was a color challenge awhile back with Lemon Lime Twist and Strawberry Slush and I didn't get to play along at the time, but I just had to try the combo for my little elf today.  And he has Timid Tiger hair : )

This time I did actually stick to the CASE-ing Tuesday Sketch:

And now I want to make even more Christmas cards with these colors together, I think they're so fun and bright and cheery.  A nice twist on the classic red and green, am I right?

I will not be braving any Black Friday sales in person, though I might check out Amazon's offerings.  After I have pie for breakfast.  Cheers, y'all!

Delivering a Sketch from the Paper Players

Mornin' y'all!  It's Sunday, which means it's time for a new Paper Players challenge!  This week we have a super fantastic sketch from the equally super fantastic Ann!

Here's my card:

So far I've only made a few Christmas cards this year, but I had to showcase the very cool North Pole Delivery Specialty DSP for this one.  The doggo in the cute sweater was die cut from the reverse side of the letters patterned paper.  I should have played with the dimensions of the rectangles using scrap paper before I cut into the DSP though, I ended up cutting into quite a bit of the patterned paper before I found the proportions I needed.  But I think I got there in the end and the only stamping on this is the greeting.  A few quick Garden Green Dear Dots and it's done : )
