Snail Mail

Mornin' y'all!  And a busy one at that.  Ryan had me drive him to school today (can't blame him, it's chilly and misty out) and then I had to drop off a package and grab a few things at the grocery store; my hair dryer gave out after many many years of faithful service and now I have just a few minutes to type this up before I take Daphne to the vet.  As if to prove that she's Just Fine Thankyouverymuch, she ate her breakfast and is now playing vigorously with her toys behind me.

Anyway, today's quick & cute card:

CAS on Friday wants to see envelopes, and Joanne had used this cute snail for a card recently so I had to get him out myself.  I was really intrigued by this week's Creative Colour Challenge:

I don't think I would have put those together on my own but I do really like the combination and I thought it worked great for the snail.  I went back and forth about whether or not to color in his eyes and I think maybe I should have left them uncolored, but too late now.

Okay, off to take Miss Girl to the vet.  Cheers!

You've Got Mail

Mornin' y'all!  I've got a busy day ahead of me--Ryan's school was cancelled yesterday so I wasn't able to do some things during the day.  I need to get a bit more paint for the pantry because there's quite a few spots that need a new coat, which means all the pantry stuff is all over the dining room, and I can't get that all cleaned up until the next layer of paint is dry and I just want everything in place so I can get the full effect of my newly painted kitchen and pantry.  It's just taking longer than I want it to :p

Anyway, I did get a bit of crafty time yesterday to make some snail mail!

He's cute, right?  One of today's challenges is CAS but after taking this picture I just couldn't resist putting on a few Tinsel Gems...

Okay the sketch I used is probably more like clean and layered than truly CAS but I tried.  Here's the Paper Players challenge:

I hunted through my stamp collection and came up with Snailed It, which retired several years ago but my stamp collection has an active retirement community.  Here's the color challenge from As You See It:

I probably wouldn't have put these colors together on my own but I had fun with them!  And here's the sketch from Sunday Stamps:

I tried to keep my card more on the simple side of things by using a large panel of Peach Pie cardstock with no pattern or anything on it.  I may not have succeeded in making my card really, truly CAS, but I had fun making it anyway!

Time to get Ryan hustled off to school so I can get to painting the pantry.  Cheers!

Mellow Mushrooms

Mornin' y'all!  We have even MORE snow today than yesterday, but the weather app says it's supposed to stop snowing around 10 this morning.  It's my turn to shovel the driveway so that's my plan...after I eat breakfast : ) and have a nice cuppa tea.

But first, a card!

Once again I dug out a retired stamp set to play with.  How cute is this sketch from Just Add Ink:

And here's the Inspired By... challenge:

That inspo pic immediately made me think of the cute little mushroom stamp in Snailed It.

Well, as soon as I finish my tea, I've got to head out and shovel the driveway again.  Wish me luck.  Cheers!

Snail Mail Hello

Hey y'all!  Bit late but I do have a card to share today.

It's snail mail ; )  I am sometimes slow to catch on...when this stamp set was released (pretty sure it was in a mini catalog), I resisted the urge to buy it for the entirety of the catalog run...only to decide at the eleventh hour that I should get it and the matching paper too.  Then I didn't use it.  Oops.  Better late than never?  Sorry the picture is a bit dark, we've been socked in with clouds and/or rain here for daaaaayyyyysss.  Yay late November.

Let's celebrate National Letter Writing Day with the Festive Friday crew:

From the list, I used script (cursive font on the sentiment), hello sentiment, postmark (iffy, unless you count the ones on the paper the snail is on), envelope, and ink, if you count that I stamped my images and used Blends to color in the snail.

I also used more layers than I typically do to follow this week's sketch from Try Stampin' on Tuesday:

The patterns just didn't look right on the card unless I added a Bermuda Bay mat to every. single. piece.  Which was at least good for using up a few scraps of cardstock.

Okay, the hubs asked me yesterday if I can make Christmas/holiday cards for his work people, to the tune of 63 cards, so I should get to work on that.  And also the washer just beep-screamed that it's done, so time to switch out laundry.  Feel like I'm moving as slowly as that snail!  Cheers!

Snail Mail

Mornin', y'all!  I did NOT want to get up this morning--I didn't sleep too well last night and I am having issues with allergies lately.  Moving at a snail's pace this morning and I was very grateful that today's workout was yoga and not cardio :)

Oh hey look, there's another snail!  I resisted this stamp set bundle and its coordinating DSP mightily, but then I saw one particular card by Brian King and oops, that snail suite came to my house.  I only made two cards yesterday, but I did make other progress--I have so many die sets and punches now that it can be challenging to remember the name of the dies that go with a particular stamp set, so I got some Avery stick-on labels and I wrote the name of the die set and stuck it on the inside of the stamp case.  I only did the dies yesterday (which still took probably a couple of hours) and I'll just slowly work on marking the coordinating punches.

Anyway!  Back to the card.  I loved this week's Color Throwdown (don't I say that every week?):

I used Night of Navy, Pool Party, Just Jade, and Magenta Madness for my colors.  I wanted to do Coastal Cabana, but there aren't any coordinating Blends for that, so that's why I subbed in Pool Party.  I paired that with the sketch from CAS Colours & Sketches:

Once again I used Watercolor Shapes for the square/diamond shape as a backdrop for my snail.  I colored in the heart on his snail mail with Magenta Madness, and once I added the greeting in the same color I had to add a few Enamel Dots to complete the visual triangle.

I'd better go get cleaned up so I can get Ryan to daycare and then I'm going to try to be productive today.  Well, I was productive yesterday, but I hope to create more stuff today rather than doing organization and housekeeping my craft room ;p  Peace out, peeps!
