CAS Christmas, Part 2

Hey y'all!  I had intended to write this post in the morning before I went to work, but I ran out of time :) I'm back with the other three card designs I made for my husband's work.

I got Lots of Cheer right before it retired and then didn't have a chance to ink it up, so I'm glad this cute boxy snowman finally gets his chance to appear!  The outside sentiment is from First Frost, and inside says Happy Holidays from Warmest Regards.

Kinda wish I'd done the mittens in blue and the sentiment in green, but I didn't have that thought until I'd already made most of the cards so oh well.  The mittens are from Merry (long, long retired!) and the sentiment is from Warmth & Wonder.  You may notice that all of the sentiments on the card fronts have something to do with warmth, guess that's my theme this year!

Last up is a cup of cocoa from Scentsational Season.  And that's all my cards!  I think making 65 cards in a single day is a personal best for me ;)  I was very productive at work for the past few days too, and I'd like to relax tomorrow for my day off but nope, looks like I'll be making desserts for a potluck thing in the afternoon.  I do like to bake though...

Friday Flashback: Warmest Regards

Yes, I know it's not Friday :p We're just going with it.  So I said I was going more or less in alphabetical order, but Warmest Regards shares a stamp case with Absolutely Fabulous--they're both all sentiment stamps, both cursive, so they live together.  This time I chose 3 out of the 6 stamps to make some quick cards and use up a bit of another DSP stack.

The patterns are from the Print Poetry stack; I chose three that I liked and used some scraps for the small vertical strip, which is why the Crumb Cake strip is wider than the other two.  I used Crumb Cake on that one because that particular patterned paper didn't have any Summer Starfruit in it, so my brain wouldn't let me use it for the strip.  Yay for using up some pretty patterns, and yay more for using up scraps too!  I like how the sentiments fit in the Ornate Frames dies, they really make a super-simple card look fancier.

This is my one day off this week so I'm going to go spend several hours in my craft room.  Cheers, y'all!

Friday Flashback: Ocean Commotion

Happy Friday, y'all, and welcome to the first Friday Flashback of the year.  This week's stamp set is Ocean Commotion...it's funny to me, I'm not a huge ocean person but the hubs is, and we lived on Okinawa for a bit under three years so I do have some beachy/ocean-y pictures and basically I always get the marine sets and use them pretty frequently.  But I think Ocean Commotion might have been my first fishy set :)

Speaking of Okinawa, here's a scrapbook layout from the Churaumi Aquarium in Nago.  I do love that photo with the sea turtle :)  Anyway, Ocean Commotion is a wee little set of just four stamps, and I used all of 'em on this layout--the fish, the seahorse, the seaweed, and the shell.

I did a couple of baby books for kiddos born on Okinawa so I made an ocean layout for those.

The hubs loves to scuba dive, so when he asked for some thank you cards I made up a set of six of these.

Ocean images are perfect for using with polished stone!  I miss SU's glossy white cardstock just for polished stone backgrounds, that was one of my favorite techniques.

And one last scrapbook layout from the one and only time I'll ever go whale watching--I was so busy being seasick I didn't see not ONE STINKING WHALE!  But I did really like how this layout turned out.  I love the bright blues and orange together.  And while the hubs kinda laughs at how my photos all seem to tilt a little bit, I can categorically say all the crooked photos on this layout were taken by HIM, not me.

So there's the flashback, and here is my brand new card:

Why Father's Day?  Well, since I'm 8 months pregnant that means this year will be my hubs' first Father's Day as a daddy himself.  And the idea popped into my head when I was perusing stamp sets for a sentiment to put on this card so I went with it.  I was inspired by the Fusion challenge:

Obviously I used the sketch, but I also used the photo--completely different theme, but I took the colors Soft Sky, Tip Top Taupe, and Real Red from the picture.  So now I just need to put this card someplace the hubs won't see it, but that I won't forget where to find it in June...

Friday Flashback: Sassy Stems

Happy Friday, y'all!  Welcome to the Friday Flashback.  This week's featured stamp set is one of my favorites, Sassy Stems.  There are just three stamps in the set but it's pretty awesome.  Let's take a trip back in time, shall we?

I used the old, old Color Coach (when it was an actual color wheel) for this color combination--Certainly Celery, Tempting Turquoise, and Cameo Coral.  And I put Iridescent Ice EP all over the main image panel so it sparkled.

I made this one for a swap not long after they introduced Watercolor Wonder Crayons.  I shoulda made more of the watercolored background visible but oh well.  And also eyelets!  So glad I got rid of most of my eyelets, I never use them anymore.

Huh, looks like this is the only time I used markers to color the stamp rather than stamping in black.  Anyway, it's time now to unveil the new card on the block:

Ta-daaaah!  The card base and the main image panel are Shimmery White cardstock, so the whole card has a bit of sparkle to it.  I am looking forward to getting my backordered Wink of Stella glitter pen, lemme tell you.  Anyway, I pulled out two retired In Colors, Coastal Cabana and Strawberry Slush, and paired them with the current In Color Cucumber Crush.  I like them as a combination.  I also used this week's Retro Sketch:

Obviously I used stamping for the long thin panel in the background, but I just really liked the idea of butterflies to go with my sassy flowers.

Friday Flashback: Bodacious Bouquet

Happy Friday!  I wrote this post from the wifi hotspot last night and it was a bit of a pain but I was BOUND AND DETERMINED to get this up because it's my birthday!  Then sometime around midnight last night, the Internet returned--it's a birthday miracle!  And to add to all that happy, today's featured stamp set is one of my all-time faves, Bodacious Bouquet.  So let's take a peek through the archives!

I think I used a coordinating wheel on the left side of this card but I can't remember the name of it.  The sentiment is from one of the All Year Cheer stamp sets.

This one's a newer creation and was on the Best Yet Friday Flashback.

This was one of my absolute favorite cards with this stamp set; the sentiment is from Polka Dots & Paisley.

I made this one for a Hawaiian-themed baby shower!  The sentiment is from Warmest Regards.

Here's a tent topper card; birthday greeting from It's Your Birthday.

Another favorite, I think I'm one of the few people who *liked* Glorious Green.  This one also features Happy Everything (another all-time fave) and Paisley.

And a bold baby book layout; I really liked that primary color scheme and used it several times.  These bold flowers just cry out for bold colors!

Haha!  I love this layout, it was our first house in Okinawa.  Don'tcha love the Indiana Jones-style letters?

So that's it for the Flashback, and it would have been longer if I'd posted every single thing I've ever made with Bodacious Bouquet but I picked my faves.  So here's today's new card:

The original sketch had the banner on the top pointing down, but it just didn't quite work once I had everything else on the card front so I did a horizontal one instead.  First time I've used Happy Watercolor, too!  I chose some of my favorite colors for this card--Bermuda Bay, Elegant Eggplant, Strawberry Slush, Garden Green and Daffodil Delight.  Quite the vivid bouquet.

Friday Flashback: Natural Beauty

Time for another Friday Flashback!  This week's featured stamp set is Natural Beauty, and it is a beauty.  It was fun for me to play with this set again : )  So let's take a look back in the archives:

My first two Flashback cards were inspired by some yellow freckled orchids I had when we lived in Okinawa.  The above card also features Floral (background), Full of Life (sentiment), and Itty Bitty Backgrounds (freckles on the flower).

This one is mostly the same as above, but trade out the Full of Life sentiment for one from All Holidays.

Here's something a little different; only the sentiment on this one is from Natural Beauty.  The stamp is kind of a word cloud thing so I just inked up the "Imagine" bit that I wanted.  The dragons are from Ancient Asia, and I also used Bamboo II and Itty Bitty Backgrounds (again).

This one is more CAS; the sentiment is from that perennial favorite, Sincere Salutations.  So that's it for the Flashback part, let's check out the brand new creation:

I used this week's SCS sketch and an old color challenge (I have about 20 sketches and 15 color combos to go to complete my challenge to myself to complete them all).  The flower image was stamped with Chocolate Chip craft ink (sadly retired) and embossed with clear EP before I colored the image using both a blender pen (need some new ones) and an Aquapainter.  The card is pretty straightforward, the only thing that took some time was coloring the image.

Friday Flashback: Measure of a Life

It's that time again!  This week's Friday Flashback stamp set is Measure of a Life, which is another one of those old SU! sets that I love and I think I've used a lot more than I really have, so perhaps I stamp in my dreams.  Because the "flashback" part of today's post is exactly one card, and I coulda sworn I'd used this stamp set more than that!

I love dragonfly images.  I know I totally CASEd this from someone else on Splitcoast, because I think that's the one and only time I've done that thing with the oval punch and the brad.  Not that I don't like it, it just never occurs to me to do that kind of thing.   Oh, looks like it was two cards, this one and this one.

So I felt kinda bad that I hadn't used this set any more often (though this was a stamp club card, so I did make multiples of it), and so I made two new cards for today's Flashback.

You might recognize this layout from an Easter card I did a while back, I'm kind of in love with it.  This is also for three Dare to Get Dirty challenges and don't ask me how my brain comes up with this stuff but I somehow combined ideas from two different inspiration pictures.

And this one is for four DTGD challenges plus an old color challenge.  If you count the Friday Flashback as a challenge (well, it is kind of a personal challenge), that means this card is for six challenges which has got to be a personal record.  I used Daffodil Delight and Old Olive for the polished stone, which kinda melted together a bit and sorta looks like I used Pear Pizzazz in there too which was a nice surprise.  I need to get a Pear Pizzazz ink refill.

Friday Flashback: Land That I Love

Welcome to a special patriotic edition of the Friday Flashback!  Usually I pick a stamp set name at random, but since the 4th of July is next week I just had to do a patriotic stamp set for today's Flashback.  And that set is Land that I Love!  Probably my favorite patriotic stamp set to date, so this is gonna be a longer Flashback than normal :)

I got this stamp set relatively early in my stamping career, so my first couple cards aren't necessarily stellar, but hey, now we can see how I've grown as a stamping artiste.  I can always tell which ones are the oldest pictures because a.) they induce the most squirming on my part to look at them and b.) they're scans, not photos.

I didn't like this one much when I made it--in fact, the picture is called "Patriotic Blah"--but I don't think it's so terrible now.  The torn edges are something different.

This one I kinda liked pretty well; the front of the card is torn and the "Thank You" is actually stamped on the inside.

You can't tell in this picture but the eagle is actually stamped on glossy paper and there's a bit of pale, pale blue and purple done with baby wipes so it looks more like sky.

Something quite simple and bordering on CAS...you can just barely see the line of stars to the left of the sentiment.

And this stamp set has even made an appearance in a baby book :)  So how about my brand new card for the day:

I kinda like it, what do you think?  I was very closely following the latest Retro Sketch, but if I were to do this over again I think I'd move the knot to the right side and the sentiment to the left.  But you can see I did stick like glue to the sketch this time:

I think that might be my dad's birthday card next month.  It looks all manly, right?
