Pumpkin Harvest

Mornin' y'all!  Ryan and I had a fun adventure yesterday with lots of dinosaurs and ended the day with DQ Blizzards because it's just what you do in Texas and who doesn't love a Blizzard?  My professional opinion:  the snickerdoodle cookie dough Blizzard is the best of the seasonal flavors they have out right now.  I tried the pumpkin pie one yesterday and it was just okay, as was the hot cocoa one.

I've got pumpkins here on the blog, too.

Quick CAS card today for the Cupcake Inspirations color challenge:

I used Tangerine Tango, Call Me Clover, and Balmy Blue for my colors.  Super simple card today, I just stamped three pumpkins and the sentiment, die cut, and put them over a plain card base with just a bit of ink blended in the center.  Up until this week, I was doing a really good job of resisting the Pick of the Patch bundle in the holiday catalog since I have the retired Pick a Pumpkin that I used for today's card.  Well, I saw so many super-cute cards with Pick of the Patch that I ordered it during the free shipping promo.  Plus a few other things : )

Okay kids, I've got to do my workout and try to entertain Ryan today until we go to the batting cages with some friends in a little bit.  If it's not raining, looks pretty cloudy out there...have a great day!

Thanksgiving Pumpkin

Howdy y'all and happy Friday!  Kiddo doesn't have school today (seriously, they seem to have days off all. the. time) so we got to sleep in a bit today and he's playing video games while I write up this blog post.  I think later I'm going to enlist his help to make pumpkin cream cheese muffins.  In the meantime, I have a paper pumpkin to share.

Going CAS today for a simple Thanksgiving card!  I started with this week's Freshly Made Sketch:

And of course I paired it with the Color Throwdown, I love pairing those two challenges:

I used Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake, and Lost Lagoon for my colors.  I don't have any current pumpkin stamps (at least I don't think I do) so I broke out the retired Pick a Pumpkin and Teeny Tiny Wishes for this card.  I am in full fall crafting mode now!  My favorite : )

Have a great day, peeps!

Pumpkin Thanks

Salutations and greetings, friends!  Ryan yodels a greeting from his bouncer, too.  He gets very vocal if anyone is eating and he's not.  Piggy baby :)

Oh yeah, happy Halloween!

Had to do pumpkins for Halloween, even if they're not jack-o-lanterns.  Although looking at this card on the screen, I kinda wish I'd done some more Lemon Lime Twist sprigs or something behind the pumpkins and gourd.  Ah, well.  Check out this week's Cupcake Inspirations color challenge:

And the Fall-To Layout from Clean & Simple Stamping:

Looks like Ryan and I won't make it to the gym in time for the class today; we got a bit of a late start this morning.  That's okay, I can work out on my own, and he'll still enjoy being in the day care with the other kiddos.  Better finish up my oatmeal and get a move on.  Cheers!

Grateful Pumpkins

Mornin', y'all!  How's your Wednesday?  Still doesn't really feel like fall here even though some of the leaves are turning...yeah I could still be running around in capris and be comfortable, which is just Not Acceptable for October in my opinion.  But at least it's perfectly fall-ish in my craft room!

I love these pumpkins.  And the Painted Autumn DSP.  I have fun in my craft room :)  Anyway, for today's card, I started out with the photo inspiration at Inkspirational:

And then I paired that with the sketch from Global Design Project:

This is actually card #2 I made for this sketch; the first one was....okay, but it just didn't feel balanced right, so I made this one and I like it much better.  And I finally got a pack of thick Very Vanilla cardstock and I'm loving that too.  I may never buy the thinner versions of it and Whisper White again...

Last up (alphabetically, anyway), is the What Will You Stamp? challenge:

I think I have enough Halloween cards for this year...now I just need to mail them all out!  So that's why I picked a Thanksgiving pumpkin this time instead of a jack-o-lantern.

Well, Ryan is sharing his cereal puffs with the dogs...at least he shares?  But we've got to get ready for the gym.  Cheers!

Pumpkin Spice Latte

Howdy, kids!  How's it going this fine Thursday?  I'm actually looking forward to yoga class at 8:30 this morning, if I can figure out something else to do instead of downward dog so I don't strain my wrists.  Other than that, I did actually like the class last week.  Color me surprised!

Speaking of color, we're back to orange today : D

Well, actually it's Peekaboo Peach and I stamped pumpkins on it.  That's some fruit/veggie confusion right there.  Anyway, I saw this color combo at the Color Throwdown:

...and I was tempted to break out Foxy Friends again, but then I thought hey, I haven't used Hug in a Mug in a while.  And so I made a pumpkin spice latte card, even though I've never had one.  Much as I love pumpkin, I like to bake with actual pumpkin puree, not all the "pumpkin spice" stuff that tastes all chemical-y, plus I don't drink coffee.  But anyway, that fox is super cute.

I used Peekaboo Peach, Crumb Cake, and Early Espresso for my card.  I thought I'd do Early Espresso for the card base, then I talked myself into doing Crumb Cake, and once I had everything stuck down on the Crumb Cake card, I didn't like it so I pulled it all up and went with Early Espresso after all.  Sometimes the first instinct is the right one!

That's it for me today, y'all.  Cheers!

Gathering of Pumpkins

You know how groups of animals sometimes have fun names?  Like a bunch of dogs is a pack (okay, not very fun and imaginative), lions are a pride (getting better), crows are a murder (love that one), and a group of unicorns is a surprise?  Well, I was thinking about that as I uploaded my card picture today and I wanna know what you'd call a group of pumpkins.

I know, pumpkins are veg, not animals, but that's where my thought process was.  Given how everyone seems to be obsessed with pumpkin spice lattes (I don't drink coffee, much as I love pumpkin), maybe we should call this a spice of pumpkins?  I don't know.

What I do know is that I like the color combination from Global Design Project:

I knew it was going to be fun to use Lemon Lime Twist in fall color combinations.  LLT is so bright and in your face, I'm a little surprised at how popular it is...but of course I love it because I just love color.  I love Lemon Lime Twist with a good rich purple, too.

Anyway!  I combined that color combination with the sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch:

I'd been planning to enter this card at the Paper Players' harvest theme challenge, but this sketch just doesn't seem CAS to me and that's part of their challenge.  I've got five layers of paper not counting the pumpkins, which I hand cut even though I have the matching Framelits because Ryan was asleep in the playard between me and the Big Shot so I just snipped them with scissors.  They were easy to cut out though, might have been faster than using the Big Shot Anyway.

Speaking of Ryan, he is currently taking a nap with his little rump sticking up in the air.  I took him to the gym this morning and he got to crawl around and play in the daycare area while I worked out, so we were both tired when we got home :) So maybe I can go finish that other card I started yesterday!

Cheers, y'all!

You're the Best

Happy Tuesday, y'all.  We have a teething baby in the house and he's grumpy a lot so now his parents are getting a little grumpy too.  Bleargh.  At least baby naps a lot...

I made a MAN card for today!  I had book club last night, and since the hubs can't pick up the baby due to his back surgery, I asked Bennet to come over here and babysit the hubs.  And I made him this card and inside it says IOU one pumpkin coffee cake.  (YUM.)

I wanted to make a card for the Global Design Project theme challenge, but I stared at my stamps blankly for a few minutes before I decided exactly who I was making the card for and then it all came together pretty quick.

For the Cupcake Inspirations color challenge, I used Tangerine Tango and Bermuda Bay with a healthy dose of black and white.

Add in the sketch from Just Add Ink and voila!  Card done.  Got to bust out some new stamps too; I got the hostess set You're Delightful and the holiday catalog set Pick a Pumpkin on my last SU! order and this is the maiden voyage for both.  I watercolored "You're the Best" with Bermuda Bay ink and intentionally made it darker in some areas and lighter in others, just to add a bit of interest so the giant sentiment.

Hope you have a great day, y'all.  I think this might be one of those days where I just wanna take a nap...but I also have some books to read...and other stuff to do :p  So probably no nap for me but that's okay.  Cheers, y'all!
