Postage Love

Mornin' y'all!  Moving slow today because I woke up with a headache, that's always fun, but it's gonna get better from here.  I am manifesting positive things for today.

What with being a chauffeur extraordinaire most of the day yesterday, I didn't get into my craft room until the early evening but I did make a card to share today:

I have two challenges today, starting with the Creative Colour Challenge:

And what gave me a vector on this card is the Addicted to CAS challenge:

I combined the pretty Posted for You Love stamp with Post Script, which might be my favorite background stamp ever.  At first I wanted to use ribbon on my card, but it turns out I have zero ribbon in any of the challenge colors, so instead I put a thin strip of Melon Mambo behind my postage stamp image and I think it works.

That's it for now, peeps.  Have a great day!

Supplies, all SU!

Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black, Gray Granite, Stampin' Blends in Petal Pink, Melon Mambo, Gray Granite
Paper:  Petal Pink, Gray Granite, Melon Mambo, Thick Basic White

SUO Challenges: Looking for LOVE

Mornin', y'all!  It's time for a new challenge at SUO Challenges!

Valentine's Day is just under 4 weeks away so this time we are lookin' for LOOOOOVE!  Doesn't have to be romantic love either, I love my friends and I think the card I made for today's challenge will end up going to my mom rather than my husband.

I kinda went literal with the challenge and found a stamp that says "Love" on it.  My mom loves the Love stamps from the post office so this will be perfect for her.  I used Just Jade, Magenta Madness, and Petal Pink for my colors, and I was inspired by the cards on page 18 of the Stampin' Up! catalog for the layout.  There's lots of great inspiration in there if you're feeling stuck!  My Magenta Madness swirly circle is from the Painted Labels dies, and I was able to use one of the Layering Circles dies to cut out the center part, love how that turned out.  I just needed a little something behind the postage stamp to give it some oomph but a solid circle of Magenta Madness would have been too much.

Okay, your turn!  Upload your lovely card over on the SUO Challenges blog.  Cheers, peeps!

Whoopsie

Mornin' y'all!  Do you ever have one of those days where you just stare at your stamps and have no idea what to do?  That was me yesterday.  I was feeling a little creatively blocked until I decided to do the double challenge from CAS Colours & Sketches.

I decided the updated versions of these colors (Pear Pizzazz, Blushing Bride, Balmy Blue) would be lovely with the sweet Posted For You stamp set, so I set to work.  But...my card ended up not being very CAS.

I thought the rectangular postage stamp punch would get a bit lost on the card front if I made the angled layers stretch from one side to the other, especially with the patterns I chose, so I made a smaller panel.  And then I ended up with a white layer to mat and...not so CAS.  It's like CAS-plus.  Whoopsie.  But at least I got a card made!  And if you're curious, Cinnamon Cider works with Subtles colors as well--I used the light Cinnamon Cider Blend to color the birds, with dark Petal Pink for their bellies.  Always good to get a little practice with the Blends.

Have a fantastic day, y'all!

Sending Love

Yay for Friday!  We had a lot of rain yesterday, but it looks clear right now so I might get to take Ryan to the splash pad when it opens in a bit.  He needs something to expel some energy.  I took him to a drop-in daycare for a few hours yesterday, I think he really needs to have other kids to play with.  He must have played hard because he conked out when I got him home, so I had a nice quiet chunk of time in my craft room :) And some brand new stamps to play with!

Posted For You and the coordinating Rectangle Postage Stamp Punch were a bit of an impulse buy for me, but I'm so glad I got them.  Beautiful images and I do love that punch too :)  I'm also really enjoying the new color family DSP packs; I still wish they were 12x12 to make it easier for me to use them in my scrapbooks, but since they're 6x6 I've only used them on cards so far.  I have the Brights and the newer In Colors; I definitely plan to get the other color families.

Speaking of colors, I used the color challenge from Cupcake Inspirations:

I used Coastal Cabana, Mango Melody, and Flirty Flamingo for my colors.  There isn't a Blends pack for Coastal Cabana, so I used the lighter Bermuda Bay and then did the color lifter on the leaves and that seems to coordinate okay with the Coastal Cabana cardstock.

Here's this week's Freshly Made Sketch:

As soon as I saw this sketch, I knew I wanted to use that stamp set and punch :)

I'm off to watch Paw Patrol with the spawn.  Hope you have a great Friday, y'all!
