Candy Canes

Mornin' y'all...I started today off with a bang when I whacked my head on my dresser.  It can only get better from here, right?  I was picking up some socks off the floor when it happened and next time I'll just leave the socks on the floor, thankyouverymuch.

Anyway, I spent quite a chunk of time yesterday making Christmas cards for the hubs to take to work and I got eight done out of ten, so not bad at all.  I plan to finish up the last two today after I wrap some presents.  Here's the first card I made yesterday:

Hubs said do different designs and be creative, but I kept the designs pretty simple.  I pulled out a bunch of Christmas stamp sets and fanned them out on the floor on one side of my crafting table, then pulled out a bunch of patterned paper and fanned them out on the floor on the other side of my crafting table, then Daphne galloped in and I had to move the papers to safety.  Currently the guilty doggo is staring at me and trying to puppy dog eyes me into going for a walk before I finish this blog post, but she will have to be patient a little bit longer.  I was lazy and just picked the Christmas DSP that I had closest to hand, so like six packs of 6x6 or 4x6 papers and then a few 12x12s that I could grab without searching through my giant stack o' papers.

Anyway, then I just started mixing and matching stamp sets and papers and the candy cane card is the first one I came up with.  I used the current CASE-ing Tuesday Sketch to get started:

I ended up leaving off the banner part of the sketch since I did two large candy canes.

That's it for now, peeps.  Seems like most challenges are going on a hiatus for the holidays, so I think next week I'll just be sharing the other cards I made for the hubs and otherwise just spend time with the fam since both my guys will be off of work and school next week.  Cheers!

Going for Gold

Hey y'all, happy Friday!  Hope you've had a good week.  This is Ryan's last day at school before winter break, so who knows how much stamping I'll get to do from now until after the start of the new year.  Guess we'll see.

New card today!

I had to dig out Poinsettia Petals that retired last year because I thought it would work nicely with this week's Freshly Made Sketch:

And the Color Throwdown:

I used gold (of course), Petal Pink, and the retired Soft Sky for my colors.  I even used three types of gold:  gold embossing powder on the poinsettias and sentiment, gold foil paper for the sprigs, and gold pearls as accents.  After I stuck everything down I kinda wished I had done something to the card front, it looked too plain, but no way was I remaking it (I didn't have time) so I just used a blending brush to add a bit of Soft Sky ink around the card front, which I don't think helped the situation.  Oh well.

Have a great weekend, y'all.

Festive Teacups

Hey y'all, Scrappy Monday will be on Tuesday this week because I want to enter my card in a couple of challenges so I have to post it today :) I actually meant to post it on Saturday but it completely slipped my mind and we were out for most of the day at another Christmas market.  So here we are!

Christmas teacups!  I heat embossed both teacup stamps from Cup of Tea, one on Real Red and the other on Granny Apple Green, then added some holly from Christmas Season and a gold-embossed sentiment from Sweet Candy Canes.  I used the Color Throwdown colors:

And the latest Freshly Made Sketch:

And there you have it!  I've got to run, I need to wrap some presents and I work today and also I need to do my French lesson.  No rest for the festive ; )  Cheers!

Candy Cane Wishes for the Paper Players

Welcome to a brand-new challenge from the Paper Players!

Our theme this time is brought to us by the lovely Joanne.  Definitely time to get started on those Christmas cards so this CAS challenge is perfect!  Here's what I made:

I used the Sweet Candy Canes bundle to make a little collage of elements while still leaving lots of white (or bright green) space to keep it CAS.  This stamp set bundle and the coordinating DSP (that I didn't use here) are SO cute and I don't even like candy canes!  Unless they're the fruit-flavored ones.  I laid my candy cane on a few sprigs of mistletoe to go along with the sentiment, and a trio of matte dots finished it off.

Your turn now!  Make a Christmas card and share it on the Paper Players blog...and don't forget to keep it CAS!

Stamps:  Sweet Candy Canes
Ink:  Sweet Sorbet, Granny Apple Green, Shaded Spruce
