Ladybug on Plaid

Hey y'all, Ryan is feeling better and is back in school today after missing two days for strep.  Happy birthday to MEEEE!  I got some time in my craft room and as soon as I finish this blog post, imma go do some more because I got a big fat order on Sunday and I haven't gotten to play with my new toys yet.

Anyway, here is today's card:

I started with this week's Freshly Made Sketch:

And the Color Throwdown:

I used Real Red, Night of Navy (note to self:  ink up that ink pad), and Flirty Flamingo.  The Most Adored Specialty DSP was in this order from last weekend so it was the first thing I used.  It's super overcast here so my picture is a bit off color-wise but can't really help that.

Anyway, I'm going to go play with some more stuff.  And then there's going to be PIZZA and CAKE because I might be an adult but apparently I haven't changed my mind on birthday food since I was like seven.  Hee.  Cheers!

Supplies, all SU!
Stamps:  Hello Ladybug
Ink:  Real Red, Night of Navy
Paper:  Thick Basic White, Most Adored Specialty DSP

Rainy Day Rabbit

Mornin' y'all!  I got up early this morning and did my workout and got in the shower and everything before it was even time to get Ryan up for school.  I was feeling pretty proud of getting up and getting to it so early and then...Ryan threw up.  So he's staying home from school today and there went all my plans to be productive.  Ah well, we can catch up on couch time and watching Lilo & Stitch.

So we've had a couple of rainy days this week and that definitely influenced my stamp choice for today's card:

In fact, as I was driving Ryan to and from taekwondo class yesterday, we hit a few extra-large puddles in the car and Ryan positively screeched with delight when the water splashed up.  So this card is for him!  The rainy day sentiment from Playing in the Rain wouldn't quite fit in my card design, but I found this itty-bitty sentiment that seemed just right in the Hello Ladybug set.  It's a good day!

Check out the Paper Players sketch:

And I paired that with the Global Design Project colors:

I added a bit of Crumb Cake to color in the bunny's fur, but other than that I stuck strictly to the challenge colors.  And I finally used the umbrella stamp for the background layer : )

Well, I've got a kiddo to cuddle.  Cheers, y'all!  And stay healthy.

Ladybug Me Anytime

Mornin' y'all.  Hope your morning is off to a good start...I woke up super early because I was hearing some kind of thumping noise and despite walking all over the house and checking out the front and back doors, I can't figure out what it was or where it was coming from.  Urgh.  Well, no rest for the weary and I've got lots to do today so let's get to today's card!

I went CAS for this week's Freshly Made Sketches/Color Throwdown combi card.  Here's the Freshly Made Sketch:

And the Color Throwdown:

I think I have those paper plates in my kitchen right now.  I used Calypso Coral, Pool Party, and Night of Navy for the colors, and I made a beeline right to Hello Ladybug when I got into my craft room.  Can you make a beeline to a ladybug, or is it a ladybug line?

Anyway, I hope you have a great day, y'all.

Cliffs of the Neuse

Scrappy Monday, y'all!  This week will be my last chance to do anything in my craft room as the packers get here NEXT MONDAY to start packing up all our stuff.  And really I should *probably* be getting stuff ready for that to happen, so I don't know how much stamping I'll get to do.  Guess we'll see how well I can manage my time this week.

Anyway!  I do have some scrapbook pages to share today, take a look:

Awww, Ryan was so little : )  These pics were taken in May of 2020 at the Cliffs of the Neuse State Park in North Carolina.  I figured we should probably go there once before we moved out of NC, so we did.  Just did a little hike, looked at the river, and took a couple of silly pictures.

Today's very fun color palette was inspired by my outfit because I like colors : )  Pixie Pink (though Polished Pink would have worked just fine too), Shaded Spruce, Parakeet Party, Starry Sky, Tempting Turquoise, and white.  Umm, I don't know if Starry Sky is my favorite blue, or if it's Azure Afternoon...guess it's a tie.

Okay, Imma go be productive.  Wish me luck!

Miraculous Ladybug!

Hey y'all!  I have a happy little card to share today.  But first, a side tangent:  my kid has been binge-watching Miraculous:  The Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir for a while (I think he's watched it all the way through two or three times) and if my SIL doesn't know about it, then she will after I send her today's card.

My SIL decorated my niece's nursery with ladybugs so now I think of them every time I see anything ladybug-related.  And also I like the cartoon, too; it's a fun watch if you have access to Disney Plus.  I used this week's Paper Players sketch:

My problem with this sketch was narrowing down all my ideas for what to do with it, but finally I decided I just needed to make a ladybug card today.  I started by thumbing through the Flowers & More DSP from the Occasions catalog (I love this paper!  I've used it on several scrapbook layouts already and other cards too, lots of bold patterns and fun bright colors and you need it in your stash) and chose this fun abstract background.  I chose Polished Pink, Parakeet Party, and Blackberry Bliss from the colors on the paper and used that for my ladybug and her leaf (yeah, she's not black, she's dark dark purple).  I didn't get the spots lined up quite right this time but I decided that on this card I liked the effect so I kept it that way, and added some Wink of Stella to them and a few Opal Rounds for more sparkle.  Time to spread awareness of Ladybug and Cat Noir : )

Cheers, y'all!

Tic-Tac-Toe with the Paper Players

Sunday means it's time for a new Paper Players challenge, and this time we have a fun tic-tac-toe board from Ann!

I decided to go for the bottom row, die cut/punch - rhinestones/pearls/dots - circle.  Here's what I made:

Let me toot my own horn a bit and say I got the ladybug's spots lined up on the first try WITHOUT using the Stamp-a-ma-jig!  That never happens :)  I used a punch and multiple dies to make this and dug into some more of the fun patterns in the Butterfly Kisses DSP Stack.  I am loving these new In Colors!  I used three today--Sweet Sorbet (good ladybug color!), Parakeet Party (probably my new favorite), and Starry Sky (which I now want to use for everything that I would normally use Night of Navy for).

I hope you'll play along and post your card on the Paper Players blog.  Have fun!

SUO Challenges: Bunches of Bundles

Hey hey, y'all!  You ready for a new challenge from SUO Challenges?

This time around, we're asking you to make a card with your favorite bundle (stamps + dies, or stamps + punch, either one) from a current publication.  Now, uh, I don't have a favorite bundle *shifty eyes* okay okay fine I wanted to do something different from Artfully Layered since I already posted two cards with it in the past week, so I thought I'd play with a bundle I haven't used much yet, and I made this:

I used the Hello Ladybug stamps and matching punch for my cute buggies, but instead of traditional (and true to nature) red and black, I decided on pink and navy.  I punched the bug bodies out (which sounds really weird out of context, doesn't it?) of a piece Abstract Beauty DSP, which is a quick and easy way to give them a bit of interest since it's not just flat color.  Also I finally bought the Stitched Greenery die and why did I wait so long?! I love it!  Doesn't it make a great backdrop for my ladybugs?

There are a LOT of bundles from which to choose for today's challenge; I certainly had trouble narrowing down my selection :)  Upload your creation on the SUO Challenges blog and have fun.  Cheers!

Supplies, all SU!
Stamps:  Hello Ladybug, Sunny Sentiments
Ink:  Polished Pink, Night of Navy
Paper:  Granny Apple Green, Thick Basic White, Abstract Beauty DSP
Accessories:  Ladybug Builder Punch, Stitched So Sweetly dies, Stitched Greenery die, Dimensionals

Ladybug Me Anytime

Morning peeps!  It's been a busy week at work but my schedule allows me to come home for about an hour before I have to go pick Ryan up, so I've been trying to use that time to stamp a quick card.  And I got to play with some new stamps!

I knew I'd have to get the Hello Ladybug bundle as soon as I saw it :)  It didn't photograph well, but I unearthed my very old collection of Stickles and put silver glitter on the ladybug's spots.  I paired my sparkly ladybug with the Simply Marbleous DSP from the SAB brochure; I got the idea from the Sunday Stamps color challenge:

I used Real Red and then Smoky Slate and Basic Gray for my gray shades.  That Simply Marbleous paper reminds me of the old, old patterned paper I used to buy when I very first started scrapbooking over 25 years ago, especially the satin sides.  I probably won't use the satin sides much :p but I'm okay with the marbley patterns.  Anywha, this card came together super fast thanks to the CAS Colours & Sketches sketch:

I thought I needed a squee bit more red so I added three red hearts from Penguin Place to the bottom corner.

Hope you're having a good week!
