Holiday Dinosaur

Y'ALL.  I don't know the last time I was this tickled about a card I made.

I'm just gonna let it speak for itself.

Bet you've never seen a Hanukkah dinosaur, have you?  Bwahahahaaaaa!  My friend Krissy *loves* dinosaurs, and she posted on Facebook a while back about looking for a stegosaurus menorah.  And a little while later, my little brain thought hey, I have stegosaurus stamps...and a menorah stamp.  I wonder how they line up size-wise.  And then it was just a matter of time before I made one in paper!  I'm pretty tickled with how it turned out, though fussy-cutting those bitty candles was a job of work.  I used the great sketch from Try Stampin' on Tuesday:

I chose Starry Sky for my main color, with Tahitian Tide and Mango Melody for the candles and Smoky Slate for a good neutral behind Mr. Stego.  My husband called on the phone while I was fussy-cutting the last couple of candles and I was positively cackling.  I've got to get this in the mail PDQ, because Krissy is going to love it!

Hope you have a great day, peeps.  I'm off to search for Ryan's missing library books.

Friday Flashback: Jewish Celebrations

Happy Friday, y'all, and welcome to the Friday Flashback.  I try to do all Christmas stuff in December, but let's not forget the other major December holiday--Hanukkah starts this Sunday.  One of my favoritest people in the world is Jewish so I bought today's Friday Flashback stamp set to make her a card every year...let's revisit Jewish Celebrations.

Last year's card was really CAS because I ran out of time to do anything complicated.

The year before that I did get more complicated :)  And really, this is all I use this stamp set for and so that's it for the Flashback.  Here's today's new creation:

Had I realized that I'd used the menorah on both of the other cards, I would have chosen the big Star of David stamp for today's card.  Oops!

I added rhinestones to the candle flames this year because my girl Sarah lurves her some bling.

To make this card, I started with the Fab Friday sketch:

I had to adapt the sketch a little bit since my circle element was so much larger than the sketch.  But I think you can still see the bones of the sketch?

And this one also meets tic-tac-toe criteria for the Paper Players:

Snowflakes (two!), sparkle or shine (rhinestones plus brushed silver cardstock), and a punch *and* two circle dies.  Whee!

Have a great weekend, y'all!

Supplies, last card only:
Stamps:  Jewish Celebrations, Flurry of Wishes
Ink:  Brilliant Blue, Bashful Blue
Paper:  Brilliant Blue, Bashful Blue, Brushed Silver, Whisper White
Accessories:  Circles Framelits, rhinestones, Snow Flurry punch

Happy Hanukkah

Morning!  I thought I'd take a break from Christmas cards to share a quick and simple Hanukkah card I made for a friend of mine.

I wasn't lying when I said quick and simple :)  Still, I thought the menorah image was fancy enough that just a simple background of snowflakes worked just fine.  And at this time of year, quick and simple is the name of the game.

Gotta get back to wrapping presents.  Have a great day, peeps!

Happy Hanukkah!

I have a good friend who is Jewish, so when Stampin' Up! had their 25% off sale in October and one of the discounted stamp sets was Jewish Celebrations, I grabbed it to make cards for Sarah and her family.  Up till now, my only Hanukkah stamp was one teeny-tiny "Happy Hanukkah" from Fancy Flexible Phrases.  Anyway, here's my first card with the new stamps:

I kind of wish I'd picked a different print for the bottom part of the card, those snowflakes are so large and so much is covered up by the main image panel that you probably can't tell they're snowflakes.  But the card came together very quickly thanks to the latest challenge from Unscripted Sketches:

It's been a while since I played along in their challenges.  Well, after taking last week off from crafting to make tons of baked goods for Thanksgiving, it kinda feels like it's been a long time since I played in *any* challenges.  Things are still crazy because it's December, but I'm gonna try to do a few challenges here and there.

Thanks for stopping by today!
