Gummy Bears

Mornin' y'all!  I'm starting today off with a bit of a headache but hopefully it only gets better from here.  Ryan and I have a couple of errands to run this morning before he goes to horse camp, so Imma type fast.

Here's my card for today:

Another birthday, another gummy bear card for Missy : )  Someday my gummy bear patterned paper will run out, but today is not that day.  I based my card on the AAA Cards Challenge:

I really wanted to incorporate the gummy bears jar that I die cut from patterned paper, but it just looked like an afterthought no matter where I put it until I rotated my card 90 degrees and used the gummy pattern to ground the jar.  I resisted the urge to add a bunch of embellishments though I do have more layers than the original card...I still think I kept it fairly CAS?  I hope?

This also fits in the You're So Sweet challenge at Shopping Our Stash...and I did use up a scrap from my stash of gummy bear paper : )

Anyway, I'm trying to get Ryan out the door now, so I'll check you later, peeps.

Gummy Bear Congratulations

Hey y'all, how's your Sunday going?  I made cranberry cardamom spice muffins for breakfast and I'm chillin' with Daphne in the living room.  Gotta take our girl for a walk after I finish writing this.

So we went to a ceremony yesterday for our friend Missy and I got her a present, a royal purple fleece blanket with gummy bears all over it (she loves gummy bears).  So naturally I needed a congratulations card to go with it.

I kept thinking the name of the stamp set with the gummy bears in it was Jar of Sweets and yet I couldn't find it on my stamp shelves (and I am *highly* organized) so finally I had to do a search on the blog and it turns out that Jar of Sweets is the name of the die set, Sweetest Thing is the stamp set, and How Sweet It Is is the DSP.  I used all three on my card, that DSP makes it so easy to cut out a cute jar (or two) of candy; the sentiment on the front is from Sweet Essentials and I used Sweetest Thing on the inside of the card.  Here's the As You See It sketch I used:

And here's the inside of the card:

Forgot to take a picture of it before I wrote in it but I wanted to share the gummy bears on the inside of the card.

Okay, Daph has been very patient so I'm going to take her out.  Cheers, y'all!

More Gummy Bears

Hey y'all!  When I was working on my design team card for the current Paper Players challenge, I actually made two cards, so I thought I'd share the other one today.

I actually made this card first, but I decided to tweak my design a bit and that's how I ended up with Emma's card.  So here is the prototype:

I used another jar cutout from the DSP and this time I used the label and coordinating die from Sweetest Thing.  I kept the same background patterns from this one on Emma's card though, and now I have an extra birthday card in my stash.  Never a bad thing : )

Have a great day, peeps!

Paper Players Celebrates Birthdays

Hey y'all, happy Sunday and welcome to a new Paper Players challenge!

Love this one.  Everyone has a birthday so we all need more birthday cards in our stash, right?  The fun bright colors on the challenge graphic made me think of a retired stamp set with coordinating patterned paper, so here's what I made:

The stamp set is called Sweetest Thing, but I always try to call it Jar of Sweets, which is the name of the die set that goes with it.  The stamp set has three jars and a variety of things you can put in them, my favorite being the gummy bears.  HOWEVER, the How Sweet It Is DSP has a bunch of printed jars that coordinate with the dies as well (looks great and it's easy!), so the only stamping on my card is the sentiment.  I had fun picking and choosing which patterns to coordinate with my gummy bears, and this card has already reached its recipient.  I recently sent a giant box of German goodies (including quite a few varieties of gummy candies) to my honorary niece, just stuff that I can get here that they don't have in America.  So my gummy bear birthday card is extra appropriate for Emma's 13th birthday.

Hope you'll join in the birthday fun and upload your card creation to the Paper Players blog.  And if you sneak a handful of gummy bears or a piece of birthday cake while you're crafting, I won't tell ; )  Enjoy!

The Happy World of Haribo

Hey y'all!  It's time for a new challenge at SUO Challenges!

This week's challenge is SUPER easy--Designer's Choice!  That means as long as you only use Stampin' Up! products, you can enter this challenge!

Here's what I made:

I hadn't played much with Sweetest Thing yet, so I thought I'd work with that and the coordinating How Sweet It Is DSP.  I have a friend (HI MISSY!) who loveloveLOVES Haribo gummy bears, but she swears the ones made in Europe are better than the ones made in the States.  So when we lived in England, I used to send her Haribo care packages periodically.  Anywha, when I saw this stamp set with the gummy bears, I had to get it :) And now I have a birthday card for Missy a few months early!

I ended up cutting off a couple of the stripes when I was working on the card front, and the back side of that pattern is scattered gummy bears, so I used those two scrap strips on the inside of the card for funsies.  I'm loving the sunny Pineapple Punch card base on this, it's just so cheery.

That's it for me today, folks.  Grab your stamps and get to work so you can enter your card at SUO Challenges and we can all ooh and ahh over it :)  Cheers!

Sweet Celebration

Hey kids!  How's your week going?  Mine is a bit less hectic than last week, for which I am thankful.  Yesterday got off to a less-than-stellar start though...Sadie (my baby girl doggo) knocked my tea over...but it was in the kitchen so it was easy to clean up.  Then my water bottle got turned over in my bag on the way to the gym and of course the lid wasn't shut all the way, so all the stuff in my bag got wet...but at least it was just water and the worst of the damage was to an old blue folder, nothing permanent to anything else that was in my bag.  So even though those were annoying events, there was still a silver lining to both of them, and in the afternoon I managed to make this card before my kiddo woke up from his nap...although he's talking now and trying to get me to go get him up as I type this blog post :)

The lighting in my picture isn't great but it's what I can get at 5:00 in the afternoon.  The cupcake is from a Sale-a-Bration set, and the sentiment is from Sweetest Thing in the current Occasions catalog.  On the inside of the card, I stamped a "Happy Birthday" from Sweetest Thing on a scrap of Bermuda Bay, cut it out with the Stitched Shapes Framelits in an oval, and stuck it on the Lovely Lipstick card base.

I started with this fabulous color challenge from Just Add Ink:

It is all things bright and beautiful and I am HERE for it.  I don't know what flavor my bright purple cupcake is, maybe it tastes like grape Jolly Ranchers.  I paired the color palette with the Paper Players sketch:

Fun sketch, I like it.  I always like it when sketches give me a good way to use up skinny scraps of cardstock!

That's it for me today, peeps.  Have a great Wednesday!
