Doubly Regal

Hey y'all, and happy last day of 2024!  I am ready for this year to be done with and hope that 2025 is a bit kinder.  And right now we're going to focus on the positive, like how I got some craft room time today and made not one, but two cards.

There's the first one, and here's the second:

The challenge graphic from TGIF Challenges made me think of Regal Flora and I had to ink it up at least one more time before it's retired.  Here's the challenge:

And here's the CASE-ing Tuesday challenge which is based on Facebook:

I was using scraps of the Regal Winter DSP (I love this DSP so much, I bought a second pack even though I still have quite a bit of the first pack left), and I couldn't decide if I wanted the fancy floral pattern to be the big square or the smaller square, so I did both.

What do you think?  I'm partial to the purple but that tracks for me : )

I need to take Daph out for her walk, usually we go in the morning so she's been very patient, and then I need to go to the store and pick up some extra tortillas because we only have one tortilla and it's Taco Tuesday.  Cheers!

Misty & Gene

Scrappy Monday, y'all!  And the last one of the year.  I slept in a bit this morning so I'm just now sitting down to eat breakfast and it's 10am.  I have the last piece of pumpkin coffee cake and Ryan is trying to bamboozle it away from me; I told him puppy dog eyes don't work when there's pumpkin cake on the line.  When he's a teenager and trying to eat us out of house and home, I'll have to start making this as a double recipe or the hubs and I won't get any of it : )

Anyway, my scrapbook layout for today:

My friend Misty got married on New Year's Eve and I thought today was a good day to share this simple layout.  I told Misty that I would stitch her a wedding sampler, and she chose a pattern with kanji on it, that's why I have the kanji stamped on my page.  Also my dress had a mandarin collar and a pattern of bamboo embroidered on it... I wonder if I still have that.

Simple page title with my favorite Lovely Letters Alphabet.

And here's the color palette:  Crumb Cake, Riding Hood Red, Brocade Blue, Basic Black, and Whisper White.  The red and blue are from our clothes and I just needed the neutrals to tie the color palette together.

That's it for me today, peeps.  I'm going to enjoy my pumpkin cake and contemplate taking Daphne out for her daily inspection tour...but it is really super duper ridiculously windy outside so she might have to convince me that she neeeeeds to go on that tour.  Cheers, y'all!

Wintry Butterflies

Mornin' y'all!  How are you enjoying this weird time-outside-of-time that is the week between Christmas and New Year?  Hope you're relaxing and only doing fun things : )  I will be doing some baking today and we're going over to our friends' house tonight for fun and games (read: Uno).

I said I thought I might take some time off and I didn't do it because I kept finding challenges to play with and here's my card for today:

I used the Atlantic Hearts sketch:

My circle is a bit smaller but it was already cut out and in my Balmy Blue file folder so I went with it.  I also used the Color Hues challenge:

I decided to go more on the pastel side and used Balmy Blue and Highland Heather.  Of course you can't tell from the picture but I highlighted parts of the butterflies' wings with Wink of Stella to go with the sparkly purple gems.

Well, I'd better take Daph-Daph for her daily neighborhood tour so I can get started on baking after that.  Maybe there will be time this afternoon for a bit of crafting, we'll see.  Cheers!

Oh, Fuji

Hey y'all, how was your Christmas?  The hubs and Ryan spent most of the day yesterday working to build a 3D printer, so I watched the first Santa Clause and worked on my current stitching project.  Then we had turkey for dinner and we were all so stuffed that I don't think anyone ate dessert : )  Hope your Christmas was just as enjoyable!

Anywha, I'm bringing back another old stamp set for today's card.  The challenge at CAS on Friday is to make a New Years card, and I happen to have a stamp set called New Year Celebrations.

This stamp set was available in the Japanese catalog (back when SU! tried to enter the Japanese market) and was available for a very short time here in the US.  It's obscure enough that it doesn't even have a gallery on Splitcoast and I couldn't find very many cards online made with it, so here's mine!  I stamped Mount Fuji and the surrounding sky on a scrap of Whisper White without a plan as to what I wanted to do with it and then this card eventually materialized.  I found a scrap of Poppy Parade DSP that was a pretty good match for the flower I stamped and fussy-cut, so there it is!  Happy New Year from Mount Fuji.

I have actually been on Mount Fuji though we didn't make it to the top--the hubs got altitude sickness and I didn't want to climb a mountain in the first place : p  I should send this card to Missy since she organized that trip.  Anyway, I'm going to take Daph for a walk and then maybe make some cookies.  Cheers!

Watch For Flying Reindeer

Merry Christmas, y'all!  Hope you're having a good holiday.  We opened presents with Ryan last night and then played his new Abducktion game, then went to bed around 9:30.  He woke us up at TWO IN THE MORNING saying he thought it was time to get up and see if Santa had been here.  I told him to go back to bed, but the hubs found him half-asleep downstairs in the living room around five this morning.  They're now putting together the 3D printer.

Anyway, I had to do just one more Reindeer Days card:

I was looking for a tall, skinny sentiment to follow the CASE-ing Tuesday sketch, but that one from Adventurous Sky was just so funny to me with the three reindeer.  Here's the sketch:

And the card it's based on:

I used the same Perennial Postage die for my card and fussy cut the reindeer from the Reindeer Days DSP.  I may have placed an itty bitty order yesterday to get more of that (I know I already have a giant paper hoard!) because I will use it for our Christmas scrapbook pages for this year.  Y'know, once I print out pictures from the last...three or four years.  Oy.

We're having turkey for dinner tonight because I panicked at Thanksgiving thinking that the turkey from Popeyes wouldn't arrive in time to thaw for that holiday so I made one from scratch.  So now we're having the Popeyes turkey, which makes me happy because I love turkey.  Maybe I'll get a ham for New Years since that's the hubs favorite.  Have a great holiday, y'all!

Sugar and Spice

Merry Christmas, y'all!  I said that to the hubs this morning and he said "It's only Christmas Eve", as if that doesn't count :p

I said yesterday that I might take a break until the end of the year but I just couldn't resist making another card or two yesterday.

I was going to color his hat in Old Olive, hence why his holly sprig is Shaded Spruce, and then I'm not sure why I changed my mind.  Check out the TGIF Challenges inspo pic:

I came across So Santa when I was looking for a stamp set for something different but it reminded me of this challenge.  I paired it with the Gingerbread & Peppermint DSP Stack just for funsies.

We don't have any cookies for Santa; my task today is to make an apple pie for tomorrow's dessert (since I didn't get any of the apple pie at Thanksgiving).  We'll see if Ryan makes a fuss about doing cookies for Santa...I could probably whip up some red velvet white chip cookies if he thinks of it.  I'm also making orange scones for breakfast tomorrow morning because my uncle always sends a crate of oranges from my parents' hometown for Christmas.  I gave at least half of the oranges to Missy and her family, I've been working through some of them and I bet I have more than a dozen left still.

That's it for me today, peeps.  Have a great Christmas if that's your holiday of choice, or Hanukkah, or Hogswatch, or whatever midwinter festivity you enjoy.  Holiday cheer!

Holly Jolly Everything (Christmas 2020)

Scrappy Monday, y'all!  I might take some time off from blogging between now and New Years, I haven't decided yet.  Most of the challenge blogs are on hiatus and I might just focus on finishing up some scrapbook layouts and reading books for the next week or so, we'll see.  Or maybe watch some Christmas movies.  Ryan and I watched the Jim Carrey version of How the Grinch Stole Christmas last night : )  Still need to watch Elf and at least one Santa Clause.

Anywha, I have a Christmas layout to share today:

Usually I don't crop my photos very much, which can kind of limit the sketches I can use, so this one was fun for me.  It's a sketch I don't think I'd used before and I was able to crop all of the photos without feeling like I was losing anything, and I had some fun DSP to play with here.  Pretty pleased with how it came out.

The color palette was lifted from the DSP:  Old Olive, Misty Moonlight, Real Red, and Whisper White.  I really like that pattern with the words on it and coincidentally I worked on a layout yesterday that also has gnomes on it.

Ryan and I are going to take Daphers for a walk and then we have some errands to run.  Ryan asked if I would cross stitch him a duck, and he needs clay for a project at school, so we're going to Michaels and the PetsMart next door.  I already have a duck pattern so I'll get some floss for that and I'll start it in January.

That's it for me today, peeps.  Have a great Christmas Adam!  ('Cause it's the day before Christmas Eve, get it?)  Cheers!

Snowdeer

Hey y'all, how's your Sunday going?  I got up this morning and made gingerbread muffins for breakfast and then I went back to bed for a while.  I'm just tired today.

Quick card to share today using more of the Reindeer Days DSP:

I had some scraps on my table after the last couple of cards and that's where this one came from.  The only stamping is the greeting.  I used the Inspire. Create. sketch:

Though I should have reversed the panels because I put the wider one on the left instead of the right.

That's it for me today, peeps.  Daphne murdered a stuffie this morning so I need to go pick up the crime scene : )  Rather her do that than chew on the furniture, so it's okay.  Cheers!

Reindeer Holiday

Mornin' y'all!  Well, Ryan's winter break started with a bang this morning, he wasn't feeling good and got me up at 5:45 this morning.  A couple hours later he was feeling much better and asked for Cap'n Crunch for breakfast so hopefully it's all good now.

I used my crafty time yesterday morning while Ryan was in school to play some more with the Reindeer Days DSP and I made this:

The only stamping is the greeting; the deer and the lights are both from the Reindeer Days DSP.  I put some red Wonderful Gems in the Christmas lights so they're a rather subtle embellishment on the card.  Check out the Inspired By... challenge:

Specifically, I was inspired by the top middle piece with the words in white on dark green, so that's how I stamped my greeting.  I used the sketch from CASE-ing Tuesday sketches, which is a new-to-me challenge that's based on Facebook:

They even give measurements for the card:

I just had to decide which side of the DSP I wanted to use for my card, but the Christmas lights won out.

In the afternoon, I actually worked on a scrapbook layout for the first time in a long time.  I've been hit or miss on doing scrapbooking since we got to Colorado, not sure why, but it was fun to work on some pages again.  I have a stack that I started months ago that just need journaling.

Daph is full of beans so I'm going to take her out for a walk and use up some of her energy.  Cheers!

Owl Be Home for Christmas

Mornin' y'all, and happy Friday!  Today is Ryan's last day of school before winter break, and he has early release today so I'd best get up and moving with a few things before I have to pick him up.  The hubs brought home two more presents for me to wrap and I have to take the Daphinator out for a walk.  It's a nice sunny day though so that will be fun.

Anyway, I have a card to share today.

I feel like I haven't used Christmas Friends nearly enough this season and it's on the Last Chance List.  I've made cards with the bear and the moose so today it's the owl's turn, along with a punny sentiment.  I used the Sunday Stamps sketch:

I have absolutely been hoarding that jingle bell pattern that I used behind the owl; the Shopping Our Stash challenge to use something you've been hoarding pushed me to finally cut into it for this card.  And I cut into a couple of other patterns as well because I do have a bad hoarding tendency when it comes to patterned paper but for reals, I have a ton.  Maybe literally.

Okay, as soon as I finish my tea I'm taking Daphne out for a tour of the neighborhood.  Cheers!

Regal Strength

Mornin' y'all, how's it going?  I got my two cookie doughs made yesterday and one of them I already know the recipe is not a keeper because I don't want to spend 30 minutes finely chopping up dried cranberries.  So I'll be baking those two doughs today and we'll see if I make the two bar recipes or not.

I have a special card to share today that I made for my friend Krissy, who lost her heart dog last Saturday after he suddenly collapsed.

I usually send her a card a week as part of my routine, but I wanted to send her extra love this week.  I used this week's Atlantic Hearts sketch:

I wasn't sure what I was going to do with the filigree shape on the right until I remembered the Cupcake Inspirations challenge:

Coincidentally, both challenges are on the same number : )  A bow was just the thing I needed for my card.  I knew I had that Pretty Peacock and gold ribbon from last year or the year before (I had never actually opened it, and this is why I rarely buy ribbons anymore) so I actually started my card design with that ribbon and paired it with the Regal Winter DSP since it has Pretty Peacock in it.  And from there the card came together pretty fast.

I also got all my Christmas cards sent off and mailed off one last package yesterday.  All the presents here have been wrapped; there are a couple of things that might not arrive until after Christmas but they'll just be birthday presents instead.  Feeling like I'm ready for the holiday now : )

Cheers!

Jingle Bells Rock

Mornin', y'all.  I'm going to have to type fast as we need to leave in about 10 minutes if I can get Ryan to get moving.  He's started doing this thing lately when he's supposed to be getting ready for school or getting ready for bed where he just dillydallies and wastes time and it's getting very frustrating.  He spent 20 minutes goofing off in the bathroom last night instead of brushing his teeth so he didn't get books.  Ugh.

Anyway, here's my card for today:

I still had the Holly Berry Bouquet DSP on my craft table when I saw this TGIF Challenges sketch:

I had a bunch of 1-inch squares of the holly pattern already cut out, I don't remember why, so I thought they'd be a good starting point for the sketch.  I cut a couple more squares out in the red pattern and found a scrap of Wild Wasabi DSP, then used the retired postage stamp punch to punch out frames for the squares.  The jingle bells image is from Reindeer Fun, I thought it was nice to focus on a smaller image that isn't the reindeer for this card.

That's it for me today, peeps.  I'm off to take Ryan to school and then go mail off our Christmas cards and one package, and go to the store because the hubs asked me to make one batch of cookies for a potluck at work on Friday.  Naturally, I picked out two cookie recipes and possibly two bar recipes because I am who I am.  I'll be mixing up cookie dough this afternoon to bake tomorrow.  Cheers!

Good Tidings Cardinal

Mornin' y'all!  I am happy to report that I got our Christmas letter written last night, and got all the envelopes addressed and stuffed.  Now I just need the postage stamps (they should be arriving today or tomorrow) and those will be out the door.  Might not arrive everywhere before Christmas but that is exactly why my cards always say Happy Holidays.  New Year's is a holiday.  So is MLK Day.  And Valentine's Day, though I've never been *that* late.

Anyway, since I flatly refused to get on the Christmas train before Thanksgiving, I'm still over here playing with Christmas stamps while I still can and most everybody else in blogland has moved on to stuff from the upcoming catties.  But here's what I have for today!

Mixing old and new again today, with Sophisticated Sled for the stamps and Wrapped in Plaid from a few years ago for the DSP.  I was inspired by The Card Concept:

I got the wreath and plaid on my card, but my colors are lighter versions of what's on the inspiration pic.  Next up is the Just Add Ink sketch:

That zigzag made me think of the Basic Borders dies which retired a while back but nobody I send cards to cares what's current vs. what's retired, so I used it.

It's about time to get Ryan off to school and then I will be wrapping presents while he's gone.  Usually I do that on the floor, but this time I'll keep everything up on the dining room table because I don't want Daphne's nose in it : ) I love having a doggo again.  Cheers, y'all!

Supplies, all SU!

Merry Christmas 2019

Scrappy Monday, y'all!  And today is a day to celebrate--our master shower is FINALLY operational after 3 months!!!  The hubs and the kid tried it out last night and I took a shower in there this morning.  So glad to have our entire bathroom back!  Daphne was a bit confused about the whole thing as the shower was torn up well before we adopted her.  Once she saw the water turned on, she decided that she wanted nothing to do with that and noped out : )

Anyway, I have a couple of scrapbook layouts to share from 2019, so here they are:

AAAAACCCKKK Ryan is such a cutie.  This Christmas was in North Carolina and my parents came out to spend Christmas with us.  Of course almost everything under the tree was for Ryan and he loved opening up all the presents.  In fact, he would offer to "help" everyone else open up theirs too!

I love the side-eye from Ryan in that smallest picture on the left page.  And I love the fun patterned paper I chose for this, high energy for our high energy kiddo.

Today's festive color palette:  Real Red, Pear Pizzazz, Mossy Meadow, Pacific Point, and Whisper White.  I rather miss Pear Pizzazz or Certainly Celery, I would trade out Soft Sea Foam for one of those colors in a heartbeat.

Gotta get Ryan to school, this is his last week before winter break.  Cheers!

Cozy Rosy Christmas

Good AFTERNOON, y'all, I got a late start today : )  We're going to do game night tonight with friends and I volunteered to provide dessert, so I'm baking some things for that and my house smells like gingerbread, at least the downstairs does, which is much better than it smelling like the sealer the hubs used on the floor of our shower.  The hubs has finished sealing it (I think) and so now we just need to reinstall the glass wall and door and then we can USE that shower for the first time in three months.

Anyway, here is today's card:

I started with the inspiration challenge from Hand Stamped Sentiments:

I zeroed in immediately on the center picture, the pitcher with the roses and pine cones, which made me think of the Holly Berry Bouquet DSP.  And then I got stuck until I looked through some old sketches from Freshly Made Sketches and came across this one:

And then my card came together pretty quickly.  I'm a little too late to enter this at Retro Rubber but I'm mentioning it anyway:

This time I did the diagonal, with dies - greenery - ribbon.  I am continuing my trend of using older retired stamps:  Cozy Christmas (the greeting) is 9 years old, and To a Wild Rose is 5 years old, so both retro.  And of course my DSP is retro too : ) and so is the ribbon.  Just retro all around.

That's it for me today, peeps.  I need to frost the gingerbread bars and bake the Oreo cheesecake cookie dough that I made this morning before I took Daphne out for a walk.  Cheers!

Blue Christmas

Happy Friday, y'all!  Ryan is off school today except for some 10-minute test thing he has to do 15 minutes from now, and once that's done we're going to take Daph-Daph for a walk and then get packages ready to ship out.

But first, I have a card!

Okay for reals, I spent like two days in my craft room just staring at stuff and trying to come up with something for a couple of challenges, and this is where I ended up for the Festive Friday challenge:

I did silver, blue, shimmery jewels, and birds.  I was going through my DSP looking for something blue and came up with that piece with blue *and* birds, so that's where I started.

Okay, we've got to get Ryan out the door ASAP so that's it for me.  Cheers!

Sketched Christmas

Mornin' y'all!  For some reason lately I have been in a place of retired stamps so I broke out an old set for today's card:

The main four images are from Season's Sketches, which I want to say I got in my first year or two as a stamper.  The greeting is from a past Paper Pumpkin kit.  Anywha, Season's Sketches was the first thing to pop into my head when I saw the last Freshly Made Sketch of the year:

And paired it with the Color Throwdown:

I used Melon Mambo, gold embossing powder, and Garden Green for my colors, and continued the retired theme by using Watercolor Wonder Crayons to color in the images after I embossed them with gold powder.  A couple of gold glitter dots and done.

Time to get Ryan off to school and then I have multiple errands to run today and Kohl's cash to spend ; )  Cheers!

Love & Holly

Hey y'all!  We've got the contractors here again today to do the grout and caulking on our shower and we MIGHT actually get to USE IT by this weekend!  I'm very excited after 3 months of going down the hall to Ryan's bathroom.  Daphne will be excited when it's done too because she gets locked in her crate while the contractors are here.  She gets stressed out with them coming and going so it's easier for everyone if she's in doggo jail.

I've got a festive card to share today.

I'm mixing old and new on this one, with some super-old Brushed Gold cardstock, a stamp set from 2021, and this year's Regal Winter suite.  First off is the Atlantic Hearts sketch:

I tried to stick pretty close to the sketch.  Next is the Paper Players color challenge:

Cherry Cobbler and Pretty Peacock are both in the Regal Winter DSP so I started there and added gold accents.  Last up today is the Retro Rubber tic-tac-toe challenge:

I went diagonal from the top right with dies - greenery - twine.  I thought for a minute that I was trying to go down the right and had missed doing woodgrain, ha!  As I said before, Christmas Season is 3 years old.  My Brushed Gold cardstock is probably over 15 years old so it's super retro.

Have a great day, peeps!
