December 2020

Scrappy Monday, y'all!  We finished painting the guest room yesterday so now we have to get the furniture back in place and put everything back in the closet...and next weekend we're planning to tackle Ryan's room.  Wish us luck.  Today I need to go to the store to get ingredients for ALL THE COOKIES and maybe some food with actual nutritional content, we'll see about that part.

But for right now, I have a December layout from five years ago.  The HECK, how can it be five years ago already?!

That is Ryan with chocolate all over his face on the right page, and I can assure you that five years later he *still* gets chocolate all over his face.  And pretty much everything else he eats.  Not sure when he'll grow out of that, if ever.

Today's Christmas color palette:  Pear Pizzazz, Real Red, Mossy Meadow, Pebbled Path, and Whisper White.  A quick and simple layout other than coloring in the animal images.

That's it for today, peeps, I'm off to walk Daphne and then go to the store.  Cheers!

January 2020

Scrappy Monday, y'all!  I think I've finally shaken the headache that had been with me since Friday, I did my workout this morning, and I'm feeling pretty good.  I worked on some scrapbook pages yesterday until my headache made me stop, and then I stitched on Ryan's duckling and watched Criminal Minds while the guys were out of the house.  It was a good day other than the headache : )

So I have a layout to share today that I made over two years ago with pictures from three four five years ago.  What year are we?!

I know the colors are more Valentine-y, but I chose pink and red because of the Panera cookie Ryan is eating in one picture, plus the red stripes on his Captain America jacket and Sadie's red collar.  The doggo in the lower right was a stray that we picked up on our way home from the Y one day; I called and left a message on the phone number on his collar but it took the owner almost the entire day to contact me back and he seemed confused about why I didn't let his dog just continue to wander along a busy road.  Some people should NOT have pets.  Harrumph.  Sadie also said harrumph, she laid on the floor between me and the other dog to establish her ownership of me, but she also refused to look at me because she was Most Displeased that I had brought that interloper into her domain.  Queen Bee.  And then the bath pictures on the left are just for funsies, Ryan playing in the tub.

Today's Panera-inspired palette:  Flirty Flamingo, Real Red, Basic Gray, and Whisper White.

That's it for me today, peeps.  As usual, I'm taking Daphne for a tour of the neighborhood and then maybe I'll get some crafty time before we take Ryan to a doctor's appointment.  It's Ryan's last day of winter break and then tomorrow Daph and I will have the house to ourselves for a while : )  Cheers!

October 2020

Scrappy Monday, y'all!  And it's looking like it will be a busy day--Ryan is going back to school after being on fall break for two weeks, I'm meeting Missy for lunch and I also need to go shop for tiles because we have come to the conclusion that we need to replace our entire shower.  (Happily, we are firing our first contractor now.)  What was supposed to be a two-day job has now edged into its third month and I think it will be a couple of weeks before our new contractor can start work, but that gives me time to order tile.  Just hope it's done by Thanksgiving.

Anyway, on to the scrapbook pages!

This is my monthly catch-all layout for October 2020, our first fall in Germany.  I was so excited that we got fall colors there : ) so I would take pictures while the hubs was driving and we went out hiking several times (because 2020, hiking was all we were allowed to do).  Then there's a pic of Ryan with the first pumpkin coffee cake of the year (family favorite recipe, find it here), playing at the village park, and we got me a bike for the first time in decades!  I used my favorite Color Me Autumn DSP and I really wish I had bought like ten packs of it because I am running out.  Sadface.

Here's our very autumnal color palette:  Cajun Craze, Crushed Curry, Old Olive, Early Espresso, and Very Vanilla.  All taken straight from the DSP and they work great with all my miscellaneous photos.  Man, I haven't worked on scrapbook pages in a long time and now I really really want to...maybe I'll get to do that this week.

Time to get Ryan off to school.  Cheers, y'all!

September 2020

Scrappy Monday, y'all!  The hubs decided this morning that we should run a bunch of errands after we drop Ryan off at school, but I'm hoping to have time to play with my BRAND NEW SCHTUFF this afternoon.  So far all I've gotten to do is unpack the box and look at the stuff!

But for now, scrapbook pages!

This is from right when we got to Germany; I mentioned that we were confined to our room for a couple of weeks BUT we were allowed to go walking in a small patch of woods near our suite.  And then once we were out of quarantine, Ryan loved playing in the playground right next to our building, see how dirty he got?  Then the bottom three pictures on the right page are when we first looked at the house we ended up renting for our time in Germany.  I did another layout after we moved in the house.

Today's color palette:  Boho Blue, Bumblebee, Sweet Sorbet, Misty Moonlight, Night of Navy, and white.  I made these pages not long after Boho Blue was introduced as an In Color.

Okay, time to get this show on the road.  Peace out, peeps!

June 2020

Scrappy Monday, y'all!  Ryan and I went out to the neighborhood pool yesterday but we were only there for about 30 minutes when the weather kicked up and we had to leave.  Then Ryan tried to argue with me that it's *not* dangerous to be in a pool when there's thunder and lightning happening.  Yeah he lost that argument, but he tried.

Anywha, my lazy kiddo is still abed at 8:30 in the morning but I've been awake for a couple of hours (I slept in, usually I'm awake between 5 and 5:30) and I've done a workout and maybe bought a few books *innocent whistling* At least 90% of the books I buy are on sale for like $2, so that makes it better, right?  And now I'm writing this blog post and giving myself time to cool down from my workout before I get cleaned up.  So here is today's layout from June of 2020:

Lots of adorable pictures of my lil stinker when he was three years old.  I love that Artoo Detoo shirt that says "That's how I roll"--we passed it along to our neighbors in Germany and I've seen pictures of their little girl Eisley wearing it.  Eisley's parents are big Star Wars fans so I knew that shirt was going to a good home.  I broke out some old Bubbles & Fizz DSP for this layout; I never got the coordinating stamp set, but it works to punch out the bottle caps from another sheet of DSP for my page accents.  And I adore it since we called Ryan "Baby Sodapop" before he was born as we didn't tell anyone what we planned to name him.

Today's color palette:  Pacific Point, Lemon Lime Twist, Calypso Coral, Basic Gray, and white.  It just so happens that I worked on another layout a couple of days ago with a very similar color combo to this one, but I'm working on summer of 2021 so there's lots of other pages in between.  I have been in the scrappin' GROOVE lately, yesterday I put together another layout and that left me at THIRTEEN that I had made but not done journaling for, so I started writing and got about halfway done with that.  Usually I finish a layout entirely before I move on to the next one; occasionally, if I'm doing more than one layout for a single event, I'll work on multiple layouts at once, but that's it.  Don't know why this is suddenly my MO to do everything but the journaling.  I've been having fun with my color combinations too and even managed to sneak in some purples, which doesn't happen too often.

Okay, I'm off to get cleaned up and kick Ryan out of bed, maybe see if he wants to go to the movies today before his TKD class since the pool is closed today.  The martial arts studio just moved to a different schedule but after next Monday's belt test Ryan will be moving to a completely different class, so this week is just going to be a one-off for a weird schedule.  His class tonight starts at 6:55 when we've been used to 4:45 classes for the past ten months.  Oh well, Semper Gumby!  Cheers, y'all!

May 2020

Scrappy Monday, y'all.  Ryan and I had a fairly low-key weekend but we did go to the movies--twice! We saw Star Wars:  The Phantom Menace on Saturday and then took my mom with us to go see The Mummy yesterday.  Both movies first came out 25 years ago (um, how) so they've been re-released in theaters.  Ryan has been highly resistant to anything Star Wars because he knows I love it, but he did say that he liked the movie, especially where Anakin destroyed the command ship on the big battle at the end.  (I prefer the lightsaber fights.)  I did wonder if he would be scared by The Mummy, but he was totally fine and now wants to roar at me the way the mummy does in the movie so I have that going for me.  He did ask me to tell him when scary parts were coming up but he said he didn't get scared at all.  Kid is way more fearless than I was at his age, I can tell you.

Anyway, here's my layout for today:

This is from May of 2020, when we lost our Sadie girl, so she is the focal point photo on this layout.  All the other pictures are Ryan goofing around one way or another.

Today's color palette is brought to you by the recently retired In Colors:  Tahitian Tide, Parakeet Party, Starry Sky, Sweet Sorbet, and white.  The only missing In Color is Orchid Oasis.  I've said it before and I'll say it again, that was my favorite ever batch of In Colors!  I do have the beginnings of a new layout on my desk using one of the brand new In Colors though, turns out that Summer Splash is a great match for some jammies that Ryan used to wear.  So I'll start getting to know the new colors too.

Time to get Ryan ready for school.  Only three more weeks and he's done for the year, whaaaat!  Cheers, y'all.

August 2020

Scrappy Monday, y'all!  My in-laws took Ryan for the weekend, so despite not feeling quite up to snuff I was able to get a lot of things done, especially on Saturday.  I'd say I'm at 98% unpacked and organized; the big thing now is to work on doing the claim so we can be reimbursed for the stuff the movers damaged.  So I'll be working on that this afternoon and hope I can sneak in a little craft room time as well.

For this morning I am sneezing like crazy (is it allergies? I don't know) and ready to check out a scrapbook layout.

This is one of my catch-all layouts for an entire month, which is when we were getting moved out of North Carolina and getting ready to go to Germany.  We've lived in I think 9 houses over the last 20 years and I don't know that I have pictures of all of them, so I'm glad I thought to take a pic of our NC house before we left.

Today's color palette:  Daffodil Delight, Granny Apple Green, Shaded Spruce, Tahitian Tide, Pacific Point, and Whisper White.  It was fun deciding which color to use for each photo mat since I mixed them all up.

I'm off to yoga at the Y, then I'll be spending some quality time with Microsoft Excel working on that claim thing.  Cheers!

April 2020

Scrappy Monday, y'all!  Hope you had a good weekend.  The hubs is off work and kiddo is off school today so we're going to go see a movie this afternoon.  We had a good Easter yesterday--the hubs talked Ryan out of trying to trap the Easter Bunny because then no one would get treats, so the Easter Bunny was free to leave Ryan a bucket with far too much candy (seriously, Ryan was on a serious sugar high before his parents even woke up yesterday), a couple of books and small toys, and a giant whoopie cushion.  Don't ask me why.  The weather was beautiful yesterday so we went for a bike ride in the afternoon and then had a nice ham for dinner, followed by cherry pie.  Usually I'd make dessert from scratch but I decided to be lazy, and I got a frozen cherry pie at the store for ONE DOLLAR.  No, it's not as good as homemade, but it sure took less time and effort on my part.

Anyway, on to the scrapbook pages!  Today's layout also has to do with food, this time cookies:

Nothing's Better Than and the coordinating Love You More Than dies are both retiring, I don't even know if they've sold out or not because I've owned them for years : )  I just used the dies here, the baking-related stamps on the left page are (gasp) non-SU.  Originally I had a small group of April pictures and then a set of bathtub barber shop pictures and planned to do two layouts, but when I got to them I elected to combine them for one layout.

I'm always looking for color combinations with either Real Red or Poppy Parade because red is Ryan's favorite color and I think at least 75% of his clothes are red.  This combination might have come from the Color Coach, but I think it worked with my photos:  Daffodil Delight, Poppy Parade, Lucky Limeade, and Whisper White.  You could easily sub in either Granny Apple Green or Old Olive for the Lucky Limeade, which has been retired for a long time.  Anyway, I had fun working on this layout and if I'm lucky, maybe I'll get some craft room time today even with my boys at home.

Have a great day, y'all!

March 2020

Scrappy Monday, y'all, and the start of Week 4 of the Cold That Would Not Go Away.  Still miserable.  Both the hubs and the kid are feeling better, at least, it's me that can't kick this thing.

Anyway, I have one of my more recent layouts to share today:

Pics are all from March of 2020, which is when the Covid lockdowns really started in the States, at least where we were.  I almost always angle stripey paper like that so it points upwards, because it seems more cheerful to me, but this time I chose to make it go downwards (and this is part of the Flowers & More DSP that's in the Occasions catalog, I love it!).  So most of the journaling block is about Covid, but I did some short captions on most of the pictures for what Ryan was doing.  Like how he chose is own all-red outfit.  I think that the 2022-24 In Colors might be my favorite batch so far for scrapbooking, I think I've used all of them as page bases already and I bought another pack of 12x12 cardstock (actually my last order was almost all 12x12 cardstock, I bought more from each color family).

Today's In Color palette:  Parakeet Party, Orchid Oasis, Starry Sky, and Sweet Sorbet.  There's just a bit of Tahitian Tide on the patterned paper, too.

Stay healthy, y'all!

February 2020

Scrappy Monday!  Man, what a weekend.  Last Thursday, Ryan woke up at one in the morning with a 101-degree fever so he stayed home with me Thursday and Friday.  On Friday, he comes up to me and says his eyes hurt, so I ended up taking him to the doc and he had pinkeye!  We got drops for his eyes (he's been a trooper with taking those) and based on the doc's advice, we moved his birthday party from Saturday to Sunday.  The other parents were very kind about the last-minute switch-up since we did it to keep anyone else from getting sick.  The kids had a great time running around an indoor playground and eating cake and ice cream yesterday, I think Ryan was worn out at the end of it but he was a happy kiddo.  Today, Ryan's eyes look back to normal, but he's still coughing and congested quite a bit, so maybe it's a good thing they're off school today.  Can you believe that the kids here get the day off after the Super Bowl??

Anyway, he's home with me so we'll be working on his Valentines for school (and the Valentines box too) and we're having lunch with Krissy, my dino-loving friend.  So here's a Scrappy Monday layout that gets two thumbs up from her!

Ryan was wearing dinosaur shirts in two of the pictures and that was enough for me to go with it for a theme on this layout; all the pics are snapshots from February of 2020.  Rather than doing a journaling block, I just added some quick captions by the photos, so this layout was pretty quick and easy to put together.  I think what took the longest was deciding which of the Dinoroar DSP prints to use : )  This was another of my very recent creations.  I only finished 8 pages last week, though I have another layout on my table that only requires journaling; we'll see how far I can get this week, though it's a short week with Ryan home today and off school Friday as well.  Speed scrappin' may be happenin'!

Today's color palette is lifted straight from the DSP:  Pool Party, Old Olive, Mango Melody, Pretty Peacock, just a smidgen of Pineapple Punch (the world's happiest yellow), and Whisper White.  Looks like there's some kind of color refresh on the horizon for SU!, so Pretty Peacock is coming back starting March 1.  If you ask me, they should never retire *any* colors, they should just add more!  #ColorDragon

I'm off to go get cleaned up after my workout and get started on Valentines.  Cheers!

November 2018

Scrappy Monday, y'all!  Hope you had a good weekend.  I'm hoping to spend some quality time in my craft room this week when I'm not working or going to the dentist for the first time in two years (oops).  But it's time right now for a new scrapbook layout!

Actually I made this one two years ago ; ) and pics are from 2018 when Ryan was a year and a half old.  This morning I just got to see his school pictures for kindergarten!  (They're so cute I can't hardly stand it!!)  I miss when Ryan was this little, but NGL I do not miss dealing with diapers and all that stuff.  Anyway, I managed to squidge TEN photos on this layout and I still had room for some journaling, patterned paper, and stamped accents.  #success

Today's lovely fall palette includes Dusty Durango, Dapper Denim, Bumblebee, Wild Wasabi, and Whisper White.  I made several layouts in a row with Dusty Durango and/or Dapper Denim, but since I frequently don't scrap chronologically that doesn't mean they're all in a row.  I have been scrapping all our photos since Ryan was born in chronological order, and I'm just about to start on 2020.  Better get off the computer and go work on that!

Cheers!

October 2018

Scrappy Monday, y'all!  I'm planning to do some scrapping today : )  And also laundry, because there's always laundry.  But for right now, I've got a layout to share.

Pics are from the month of October 2018.  Man, Ryan was so little!  This kid has gotten so TALL lately.  Amusingly enough, you see that bear shirt in the two photos top left?  I got him that shirt in 2T and loved it so much I went back to buy it in a bigger size, so he still has a 5T one but he hasn't worn it lately and it will soon be in the pile of clothes he's outgrown.  I used to buy him alllll the clothes with bears and/or foxes on them; nowadays his clothes are like 98% superheroes and at least half of them are red and/or black.  He has a lot of Spider-Man and The Flash stuff.

Today's color palette:  Crumb Cake, Pretty Peacock, Night of Navy, Grapefruit Grove, and Whisper White.  I've used Pretty Peacock on several layouts just recently and I like the Grapefruit Grove as a more muted orange for this one.

Okay, I'm off to go do all the things.  Cheers!

May 2018

Scrappy Monday, y'all!  At 6 this morning, Ryan (not really awake yet) yelled something, so I went to go see what he said...he was yelling "I WANT TACOS!"  Kid takes his tacos seriously, ha!  I told him it was morning and he rolled over and went back to sleep.

As it happens, I have pictures of Ryan eating (but not tacos) on today's scrapbook layout.

Pics are from May 2018 so Ryan was just over a year old.  I was telling my husband this weekend that I remember when Ryan was this little, but I don't remember some specific things like how much he talked or how well.  That's why I make scrapbooks I suppose, though at the moment I'm still working on 2019 so I need to get a move on.

Anyway, I think I chose the dinosaurs as accents on this because there's a blue T. Rex stuffy in Ryan's collection, and what little kiddo doesn't like dinosaurs?  Dino Days was--and still is--a great dino set.  Ryan climbed up on that glass shelf where we kept his stuffies in that house (focal point photo) just one time--I let him stay there just long enough to take his picture and then I got him down.  We intentionally put stuffies and nothing breakable on the shelves he could reach and his toy bin lived in the space below the bottom shelf.

Today's color palette:  Calypso Coral, Crushed Curry, Emerald Envy, Pacific Point, and Whisper White.  Something nice and bright to start off May.  I'm hoping I get some time to scrap this week.  Cheers!

December 2018

Scrappy Monday!  How was your holiday?  I think Ryan's Christmas was sponsored by Lego this year ;) He got at least a half-dozen different sets and has been working on those in between playing with his other toys.

So here we are at the last Monday of 2021!  I was hoping I'd get some crafty time this week but circumstances keep conspiring against me :p  Well, I do have a layout to share today anyway.

Here's my monthly layout from December of 2018, when Ryan was not quite 2 yet.  I love that first picture that says "Do your job!" on it--we visited my hubs' office and Ryan immediately plopped himself in the desk chair, so we took that picture of him.  Man, he's grown so much since these pictures were taken!

Today's color palette:  Wild Wasabi, Garden Green, Bashful Blue, Blueberry Bushel, and Whisper White.  Y'all know I love me some greens and blues together :)

Cheers!

August 2018

Scrappy Monday, y'all!  I had Friday off, and while I did spend quite a bit of the day in my craft room, I didn't make anything.  I've been working on cleaning some stuff up and reorganizing a bit instead, but I'm hoping to get a lot done this week!  In the meantime, I have a layout to share today.

All the pictures were taken in August of 2018, and I used Ryan's dragon jammies as my inspiration for colors and for the dragon accent : )  Let's be honest, there are some kid clothes that if they made them in my size I would *totally* wear them, like dragon jammies, and also Ryan's bright orange jacket with a fox face and ears on the hood.  Anyway, I squeezed in nine pictures on this layout so other than the dragon and just a smidge of patterned paper, there wasn't a lot of room for embellishment here.  Which is fine because the pictures tell the story.

Today's color palette:  Call Me Clover, Lemon Lime Twist, Basic Black, and Whisper White.  You know I love me some greens!

Cheers, peeps!

July 2018

Scrappy Monday, y'all!  Ugh, I stayed up too late last night.  I should know better but I was working on my stitching and watching Star Wars: The Clone Wars and oops, it's eleven o'clock.  Oh well, today starts a new week and I've got a scrapbook layout to share!

Sometimes it's challenging to come up with a monthly layout that incorporates as many pictures as possible and find a color combination that works with all the pictures.  I do a LOT of bright blue, so this time I decided to focus on the bright orange lion shirt and the green dragon one for something a little different.  So not your typical red, white & blue for July, but I did use stars for accents.

I do love these colors together:  Tangelo Twist, Daffodil Delight, Call Me Clover, and Whisper White.  Very summery!  Oh, after a couple of weeks of lovely weather in the 60s/low 70s, it is warming up this week to low 80s.  Hope it doesn't get warmer than that since we don't have AC.

Have a great week, peeps!

June 2018

Scrappy Monday, y'all!  Slightly behind because this morning I was going through pictures from our excursions yesterday, so I actually posted on my other blog!  Woohoo!  We had a fun weekend, hope you did too.

I've got a fun summery layout to share today!

Aww, Ryan was so widdle in these pictures :)  I need to get back in the scrapping groove, I've been making a lot of cards but I miss scrapping too.  So I'm going to write this fast so I can get up to my craft room before it's time to pick Ryan up from daycare.

I had fun busting out some retired colors for this layout, namely Watermelon Wonder for the page base and Tempting Turquoise for the patterned paper, which I paired with Pacific Point, Daffodil Delight, and Whisper White.  Watermelon Wonder is such a fun color, I need to play with it some more.  Okay, that's it, I'm going to my craft room.  Cheers, y'all!

April 2018

Scrappy Monday, y'all!  Did you have a good Easter?  This was the first time Ryan got an Easter basket, and he says the Easter bunny loves him A LOT (spoiler alert: she does).  He got candy and Legos and a pop-up book and we did an egg hunt outside and then another egg hunt inside the house and he had a great time with it.  Then we had a nice Easter dinner with our neighbors, so it was a pretty great day.  Over the course of the weekend, I also made over 100 muffins that the hubs is going to take in to work tomorrow morning, so it was a busy weekend!

Moving on to this week's scrapbook layout!  Pics from April 2018 when Ryan was just over a year old.  Aww, he was so widdle!

Okay the middle picture on the left page cracks me up--Ryan would jab a pair of toy scissors onto his dad's chest and then the hubs would holler and make noise and yell "Kali maaaaaaaaa!" like on Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and Ryan would laugh hysterically and do it again.  For a while there, my mom was trying to make lions a "thing" for Ryan because MY favorite toy as a child was a stuffed lion that talked when you squeezed him, so Ryan has several lion toys and she'd send him clothes with lions on them, like that shirt with the gold on the right page.  That gave me an excuse to use that cool geometric lion stamp :)

Today's color palette:  Island Indigo, Wild Wasabi, Garden Green, Crushed Curry, and Whisper White.  I love the Woodland Walk DSP pack and I'm glad I got more than one pack of it, I still bust it out every now and then.  Well hey, it's mostly greens and you know how I love greens!

I work today, but the hubs does not and Ryan's daycare is closed too so for once the hubs is watching Ryan while *I* go to work!  Something new and different after the last four years, haha!  Have a great week, peeps!

March 2018

Scrappy Monday, y'all!  Didja have a good weekend?  I got to sleep in on Saturday and then took Ryan to the playground for a few hours that afternoon, and yesterday I made pumpkin coffee cake for breakfast so yep, we had a good weekend :)  Ready to get this week started, so let's take a look at today's scrapbook layout!

Ryan's baby book covers February 2017 to February 2018, and after that I started doing monthly recap layouts because I always have a bunch of random pictures on my phone and this is a good way to share those that don't have anything tying them together other than the fact that they were all taken in March.  So here's Ryan with his best buddy Peking Duck, Ryan leaning on Vader (how I miss our dogs), pulling all the DVDs off the shelf for, like, the thousandth time, fun with Daddy, and Ryan with a quilt that was made for him by a friend of my parents.  I made this layout two years ago and now I'm not sure why I didn't have the patterned paper just go all the way across both pages...maybe I only had a scrap to work with, I can't remember.  It's a little different layout for me but I think it's okay.

Sometimes it's a challenge coming up with a color palette since the colors in the pictures are all different, so a lot of times I'll try to go with something seasonal.  Today's springtime color palette is Certainly Celery, Bashful Blue, So Saffron, Crumb Cake, and Whisper White.

It's off to work I go here in a little bit.  On Friday I learned how to do some things in the frame shop, so I may be framing more stuff for the post office today.  Or maybe I'll be learning how to take passport pictures.  Have a great day, y'all!
