Pengwengs for The Paper Players

Happy Sunday, y'all, and it's time for a new Paper Players challenge!  This time the lovely Jan has a color combination for us:

I thought about this one for a while and then I had a brainwave and I made this:

Pengwengs!  We shall never forget the time that Benedict Cumberbatch narrated an entire documentary about flightless birds and discovered he can't say the word "penguin" properly, haha!  My bird-obsessed kiddo went through a phase where he watched Happy Feet over and over so I knew these colors would be perfect for this penguin pair, from the long-retired stamp set Cold-Weather Friends.  I embossed the image with black ink + Versamark + clear EP and then watercolored with Daffodil Delight and Smoky Slate ink, then added a bit of Wink of Stella to the ground so it would look a little glittery like real snow.

Check out the other design team creations on the Paper Players blog, and you can hop through their individual blogs to leave some comments too:

Polar Wishes

Mornin' y'all!  Well, for the next 8 minutes, anyway.  I might have slept in late this morning ; )  Did some yoga, all that stuff, and I just finished my morning cuppa.  Time to share today's card!

I pulled out a couple of long-retired stamp sets for two challenges today, starting with the Four Seasons Challenge:

Cold-Weather friends has this cute polar bear as well as a seal and an arctic fox; I stamped all three and then ended up only using the polar bear.  Next up is the Colorful Options challenge:

Love the inspo pics on this one, I used Balmy Blue, Basic White, and Pebbled Path for my card.  I tried embossing the animal images in white EP at first and that turned out kinda creepy looking, so I embossed with Pebbled Path ink + Versamark + clear EP, then watercolored around the polar bear cub with Whisper White and Balmy Blue ink.

I should probably ask Daph if she wants to go out for her daily tour of the neighborhood, and then I need to run up to the UPS store because I sold some Nancy Drew books : )  Doesn't offset the craft supplies I bought over the last few days but don't tell my hubs that, ha!  Have a great day, y'all.

Supplies, all SU!

Ink:  Versamark, Pebbled Path, Balmy Blue, Whisper White

Polar Bear Pal

Hey hey, y'all!  I've got today and tomorrow off of work, it's rainy outside, and after running errands this morning I've been spending some time in my craft room with some new OLD stamps!  I recently went through all my old catalogs and whoops--I found several stamp sets that I just really wanted.  So I found some of them on Ebay and I had to make a card with one of those new to me/old retired stamp sets!

Once again Blogger is being a PAIN IN THE BUTT about uploading pictures but I think I've got it now.  Behold!

My friend Sarah is OBSESSED with polar bears and Cold-Weather Friends was in the very first catalog I ever got when I first started stamping.  I had forgotten all about it until I looked through that catalog, but I just had to have it!  In addition to the polar bear, there's a penguin pair (I typed penguin pear at first, yeah that's not a thing), a harp seal, and an arctic fox.  But of course I had to make Sarah a polar bear card for my inaugural Cold-Weather Friends card.

I used the colors from Color Throwdown:

I used some retired colors too!  I used Ruby Red, Baja Breeze (my favorite), Crumb Cake, and Very Vanilla.  If you're wondering where the Crumb Cake is, I lightly watercolored it on the polar bear for a bit of shading, while the snow around him is shaded with Baja Breeze.  The Ruby Red patterned paper was from a 6x6 pad that might have been a hostess option one year, so woo for using up more 6x6 paper too.

I used the sketch from Global Design Project:

And let's not forget the Animal Kingdom challenge from SUO Challenges!

I've got a bit more than an hour and a half before time to pick up Ryan so I'm going to go work on some more stuff.  After all, I have a couple other new/old stamp sets, plus some new/new ones that I just got in my latest SU order.  Cheers, peeps!
