Friday Flashback: Mosaic Madness

Happy Friday, y'all.  And guess what...my due date is TOMORROW.  Which is frightening.  I know that the vast majority of babies are not born ON their due dates, but I'm still kinda hoping.  So I'm getting a pedicure today, and hopefully going out for one last date night with the hubs tonight.  And wondering if I should do crock pot chicken taco soup for dinner tomorrow...I mean, what if I DO go into labor?!

Anyway.  I don't feel like doing a whole lot now because it's like I'm the human embodiment of the quote "That's no moon...it's a space station!" but I have been doing some stamping and scrapping (because it involves sitting but still being productive).  So for today's Friday Flashback, let's check out the archives for Mosaic Madness!

Also features Empire Alphabet, Magical & Mystical
First up is this layout from Greece!  Actually I did two, and used Mosaic Madness on both, but this post is already going to be pretty long.  I do love this layout.

Also features Curly Cute
Here is a tribute to the Stamp-a-Ma-Jig.  That multicolored panel?  All hand-stamped.  Yes, it took forever, but I really liked how it turned out.

Also features Teeny Tiny Wishes
Something quick for Father's Day, though I think the circle element needed a mat too.

Here's another scrapbook layout, this time from Hearst Castle in California.  Know what I just realized?  I got that picture in the top left enlarged to 5x7, but somehow the photo I had in my archives is with the 4x6 placeholder.  Oops.  So in the real finished layout, that's a 5x7 photo and doesn't have a big distracting white border!  : D

Also features Happy Day
And another Stamp-a-Ma-Jiggy card.  I love stamp sets that have matching punches.

Also features Perfect Peacock, Too Kind
Okay, this one is a little different:  the Mosaic Madness stamp I used on this one is the border underneath the sentiment, instead of one of the mosaic shapes.

Also features Simply Sketched

*suddenly noticing how often I use yellows with this stamp set*

Also features My Paper Pumpkin stamps
Oh hey look, not yellow.

Same sentiment as the card above :)
But there it is again.

Also features Best of Greetings
So there's the Flashback part, which wasn't everything I've got in my archives but I don't want to bore anyone.  Ready for the new project?  Spoiler alert:  I love these scrapbook pages.

I mentioned earlier this week that I had done the rest of my Spain layouts, so here's the first one!  (And this is why I redid the Shenanigans layout in a different color combination.)

I think I need to refresh the ink in my Midnight Muse ink pad, it's not *quite* dark enough on the patterned paper here.  Anyway, I love stamps like Mosaic Madness for our travel layouts; sometimes you just need a little accent stamp that isn't really themed, so I like these that can be any color and go along with everything.

Segovia layout #2, and on this one I used different mosaic stamps for the accents but they still coordinate with the first layout.  And I just love how the Coastal Cabana looks with the pictures.  I used the Best Year Ever DSP on all the Spain layouts, it's one of my very favorite DSP packs.

There's a closeup of some of the mosaic elements from this layout.  Super quick and simple to do, and they look good too :)

So here's my Spain palette again:  Coastal Cabana, Calypso Coral, Crushed Curry, Midnight Muse, Soft Suede, Sahara Sand, and Whisper White.  Dog hair not included.

I'm going to go get cleaned up and ready to go for my pedicure.  Cheers, y'all!

Supplies, last two layouts only:
Stamps:  Mosaic Madness, Morning Post Alphabet
Ink:  Midnight Muse, Calypso Coral, Crushed Curry
Paper:  Coastal Cabana, Calypso Coral, Midnight Muse, Whisper White, Best Year Ever DSP
Accessories:  Mosaic Punch

Friday Flashback: Starburst Sayings

Happy Friday!  It is time once more for the Friday Flashback, and today's featured stamp set is Starburst Sayings, which seems kinda appropriate to kick off the 4th of July weekend.  So let's take a whirl through the archives, and if all you want to see is today's new card then scroll to the bottom :)

Also features World Map
Starting off with this lovely map card.  I wish that SU! had done some more stamp sets (or even just one more!) to coordinate with the Starburst dies before they retired them all, but oh well.

Also features Perfectly Penned
That little starburst stamp on the left is covering up a booboo on the embossing powder at the bottom of the H :)

Also features Something to Say

Ahh, my favorite stamp from this set.  What's not to love about a giant Happy Day stamp!

Though apparently that little starburst stamp is the runner-up for favorite stamp from Starburst Sayings.

Works on any color combination!

And lots of different card layouts.

Also features Alphabet Rotary, Gorgeous Grunge, Positively Chevron
This is quite possibly my favorite card in the history of ever.  The inside says "You know the rest!" and I sent it to my dad :D

Also features Wood You Be Mine?
And here's a little lumberjack thank you card.

Also features Too Kind, My Paper Pumpkin (tiny chevron stamp)
Last one, another brightly-colored thank you card.  Now for today's new creation!

My SIL's birthday is on July 5th, so I'm going to send this out to her ASAP for her birthday.  Hey, it looks like this is the first time I used the little celebrate stamp so woohoo for me!  The fireworks and star stamps are from a stamp set called July Fourth.

And I stamped on the inside of the card too.  My patriotic color combo is courtesy of Fab Friday:

And of course I re-used the Freshly Made Sketch that I used yesterday:

And that's it for today.  See you back here tomorrow for another baby book layout :)

Supplies, last card only:
Stamps:  Starburst Sayings, July Fourth, Happy Happenings
Ink:  Tempting Turquoise, Pacific Point, Night of Navy, Real Red
Paper:  Temping Turquoise, Night of Navy, Pacific Point, Shimmery White, Whisper White (just for the inside)
Accessories:  Starburst Framelits, Dimensionals

2015 Showcase, Part 1

Since it's the last week of December (already!), it's time for the 2015 showcase here at Snapdragon Stamps.  So I went back through my blog posts for this year and picked out one card and one scrapbook layout for each month (okay, sometimes there were ties) just to share my favorites one more time.  So let's start off with Part 1 of the card showcase.

January's pick:  I love this happy card.  That "oh, happy day" stamp just makes me smile.

February's pick has Valentine-y colors and some pretty lotus blossoms.  I like how it turned out to do the first layer of the flower stamping with white ink.

March's pick:  By the Seashore has long been a fave stamp set, and I just love that patterned paper from last year's Sale-a-Bration.

April's pick is this giant Swallowtail paired with some stamps from Tea Party.  I love the watercolor background for the butterfly and those are my colors.  Spoiler alert:  new tea-related goodness is coming up in the Occasions Mini next week!

May's pick is this coral rose card.  It's an advertisement for why I don't get rid of my retired stamp sets:  I love that rose and the sentiments.  Plus, if I sold off all my retired stuff, how would I do Friday Flashbacks?

And for the last one of the day, June's pick is this bouquet card I CASEd from the catalog.

Nachos: CAS Kindness

Happy Nacho day, peeps!  It is time once again for an awesome Nacho Average Color Challenge:

I admit, I had to put on my thinking cap for this one...I am not necessarily a fan of Strawberry Slush and Crisp Cantaloupe together.  And then I layered them one on top of the other on my card and I like it, so there's a lesson for you:  try the color challenge even if you're not sure about it :)

We're moving in less than a month, so I may be going more CAS with my creations for a while.  Once I chose the retiring Too Kind for my card, I came up with this super-simple layout and I was done with this card in, like, five minutes.  You might notice that I did sneak in a new color...the flower stems are stamped with Mint Macaron, one of the upcoming new In Colors.

Now it's your turn!  Upload your beautiful creation at the Nacho blog for us to see :)  Cheers, peeps!

Supplies, all SU!
Stamps:  Too Kind
Ink:  Strawberry Slush, Crisp Cantaloupe, Coastal Cabana, Mint Macaron

Retiring Rose

Mornin', peeps!  I'm still getting my mojo back together after almost a week of not being crafty, but I think I'm getting there.  This morning, I made this card:

I am continuing to love on my retiring stamps and accessories a bit--I used two retiring stamp sets, a retiring embossing folder, retiring Framelits, retiring patterned paper, and retiring ink.  That's a lot of retirement :) The white panel is popped up from the card base, and the rose is popped up from the white panel, so this card is extra-dimensional.  Just thought I'd let you know since you can't see it in the photo.

I used the color challenge from Colour Me...!

Usually I am not over fond of color challenges that feature one color and neutrals, but for some reason I am totally in love with Crisp Cantaloupe (or Calypso Coral for that matter) and Sahara Sand.  So I had to play along with this one.  I hope the challenge hostesses over there won't give me demerits for using some Calypso Coral ink on the rose...it's a Dynamic Duo with Crisp Cantaloupe, so really it's like the same color but a darker shade.  And I needed some darker shade for my rose :)

I also used this week's fantastic Freshly Made Sketch:

I think I play along over there almost every single week.  And this week I stuck VERY close to the sketch, lemme pat myself on the back for that :D

Well, since my Skype date bailed on me today (I still love you, Missy) guess that means I can go right back into the crafting cave and make something else.  Cheers, peeps!

Ink:  Crisp Cantaloupe, Calypso Coral, Sahara Sand, Chocolate Chip

Kind Peacock

Salutations and greetings, friends!  How's your day going so far?  It's a lovely day where I am and I've finished my run for today so it can only get better from here ;)  I don't think running will ever be fun.

When I was a kid, we'd visit my great-grandmother and she'd take us out to a park and my brother and I would chase peacocks, that was fun :)  Perfect Peacock is not retiring, but Too Kind (sentiment) and Mosaic Madness (the design across the bottom) both are.

I made my avian creation with some help from Colour Me...!

I added just a smidgen of Mossy Meadow for the leaves, but other than that I stuck with the challenge colors.  I also used the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches:

Slightly modified to make the two strips on the sketch stamped elements instead.  And that is all for me today, have a wonderful Thursday :)  Cheers!

Supplies, all SU!
Stamps:  Perfect Peacock, Too Kind, Mosaic Madness
Ink:  Night of Navy, Lost Lagoon, Melon Mambo, Crushed Curry, Mossy Meadow

Butterfly Thoughts

I mistyped my blog post title and for a second there, this was labeled Butterfly Thugs.  What would a butterfly thug even be like?!

Anyway, here's today's card:

I ordered the butterfly Framelits that are in the Occasions catalog but they're on backorder so I broke out the butterfly punches instead.  I got my color combination from Cupcake Inspirations:

And I haven't had breakfast yet, so I kinda want to just reach through the screen and grab that cupcake.

I also used the sketch from Sketch Frenzy Friday, been a while since I played along over there:

I thought this was a fun and different sketch, I relished the opportunity to play with it.

Anyway, I've got a busy day ahead so I should probably go get running.  First off, a poll if you will:  I do the Kindle First thing on Amazon, where at the beginning of the month I can get one of four books for $1.99.  Some months, none of the books are appealing to me, but this month, two of them are--The Mermaid's Sister and The Dead Key.  So which one do you think I should get?  I can only get one at the $1.99 price, the other one I'd have to preorder for $4.99.  I'm gonna go ponder while I run :)

Cheers, peeps!

Good Thoughts this Monday Morning

Mornin', folks!  Hope your day is off to a good start :)  I've already been in my craft room and made today's card and then this afternoon I'll be doing some baking, so that's a good day in my book.

Thought we'd switch it up from fall leaves today and it's been a long time since I made a card with Too Kind.  I love the current sketch from Freshly Made Sketches:

I had a few ideas for using this sketch so I could probably make several more cards and they'd all be different, but today's card just falls into the Quick & Cute category I think.  And I can always use more Thinking of You cards.

Well, my tea is almost gone so that means I need to get up and start working on some other items of my to-do list today.  Hope you have a great Monday!

Supplies, all SU!
Stamps:  Too Kind
Ink:  Wild Wasabi, Hello Honey, Crisp Cantaloupe

Grateful Goodness

Howdy, folks!  I was hoping to avoid this, but this will be my last week of doing a blog post every weekday...at least until we get all of our stuff unpacked in our new house in a few weeks.  I have enough draft blog posts to do three posts a week, but not five :)  But I'll bump it back up as soon as I can.

Today's card was one I did for a swap.

Still having fun with the new In Colors, how do you like Mossy Meadow with Blackberry Bliss and Hello Honey?  I used Smoky Slate for the card base just because it seemed like too much yellow to do the card base in Hello Honey.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Supplies, all SU!
Stamps:  Too Kind, Something to Say
Ink:  Smoky Slate, Hello Honey, Mossy Meadow, Blackberry Bliss

Friday Flashback: Love & Care

Hello, stampers!  Welcome to another Friday Flashback.  Today's featured stamp set is Love & Care, a hostess set from 2011.

And somehow all I ever made for it was the index card for its Splitcoast gallery?!  What a crime!  So I had to fix that with a scrapbook layout:

The photos are from when hubs and I went to California with both sets of parents in 2005.  Some detail shots...

I don't understand how I never made anything else with this stamp set, I love it!

Well, at least it got some lovin' for this layout.  I'll have to break it out again soon.  Thanks for stopping by today, and cheers, peeps!

Supplies, all SU!
Stamps:  Love & Care, Too Kind (the straight stem)
Ink:  Calypso Coral, Daffodil Delight, Lucky Limeade, Midnight Muse marker
Paper:  Calypso Coral, Daffodil Delight, Pacific Point, Whisper White, International Bazaar DSP, retired Lucky Limeade DSP
