September 2020

Scrappy Monday, y'all!  The hubs decided this morning that we should run a bunch of errands after we drop Ryan off at school, but I'm hoping to have time to play with my BRAND NEW SCHTUFF this afternoon.  So far all I've gotten to do is unpack the box and look at the stuff!

But for now, scrapbook pages!

This is from right when we got to Germany; I mentioned that we were confined to our room for a couple of weeks BUT we were allowed to go walking in a small patch of woods near our suite.  And then once we were out of quarantine, Ryan loved playing in the playground right next to our building, see how dirty he got?  Then the bottom three pictures on the right page are when we first looked at the house we ended up renting for our time in Germany.  I did another layout after we moved in the house.

Today's color palette:  Boho Blue, Bumblebee, Sweet Sorbet, Misty Moonlight, Night of Navy, and white.  I made these pages not long after Boho Blue was introduced as an In Color.

Okay, time to get this show on the road.  Peace out, peeps!

Oh, Beehive

I'm going to blame that terrible pun on either too much cold medicine, or not enough.  It's one of those two.  I sent Ryan to school today for the first time all week (he was Most Displeased and told me so at top volume several times, but he went) and I am doing my best to stay vertical and do some laundry.  While I'm waiting for the next load to come out of the dryer, I made this:

Hexagons everywhere.  I started with this week's Freshly Made Sketch:

I started out by cutting a whole lot of hexagons with the Beautiful Shapes dies, and then just piling them on my card front until I liked it.  I'm also entering this at Festive Friday:

I used green, gold (it's very subtle, but the Genial Gems I used have gold glitter in them and for some reason I just really liked them with the bees), and luck.  And a punny sentiment if you count my blog post title.

Next up is the Color Throwdown:

I used Pool Party, Daffodil Delight, and Parakeet Party.  All my hexes were cut from scraps of DSP in my stash, yay!

Finally, here's the Cupcake Inspirations challenge:

Which is what kind of brought the other three challenges together for me.  The Color Throwdown was good bee colors, the stamp set has a good luck sentiment in it for the Festive Friday challenge, and the hexagons worked with the Freshly Made Sketch.

Time to switch out the laundry.  Stay healthy, y'all.

Beautiful Bees

Well.  I got a nice, big Sale-a-Bration order yesterday and all I've done is crack open the box so far.  I wasn't feeling good yesterday and ended up leaving work early, and today I feel like I've been hit by a truck.  I didn't even get out of bed until 11:30 this morning.  I think I'm going to have to get a Covid test done when I go to get Ryan off the bus (there's a testing center literally right next to our house).

But enough of that, before I went to work yesterday I had time to squeeze in two cards, so here's one of them.

The CAS Colours & Sketches sketch challenge made me think of these three bees from Honeybee Home, and I liked the sentiment from Beautiful Thistle to go with them.  True to the CAS mandate, I didn't add any embellishments, other than popping up the bee images on Dimensionals and a bit of Wink of Stella on their wings.  Here's the sketch:

And now I face a perplexing dilemma:  go lie down on the couch or get something to eat first?  Stay healthy, y'all.

I'll Bee Missing You

Hey y'all, we made it to another Friday!  I must admit I've been preoccupied with my stitching project of late because I'm on the last page of it, but I did make a couple of cards yesterday because I still have to take breaks from stitching occasionally :)  So here's the first card I made.

Check out this week's Freshly Made Sketch:

I thought of the rectangular postage stamp punch as soon as I saw it, and bees came to mind when I saw this week's Color Throwdown:

I admit I was not thrilled with this palette--I read the colors as all neutrals, but the challenge write-up called the second color yellow and that made it work better for me.  I don't like the all-neutral challenges.  I used Smoky Slate (really the patterned paper has Basic Gray on it), So Saffron, Crumb Cake (what, you don't see it?  That's what I used for the bees' legs), and Memento Tuxedo Black.

That's it for me today, cheers peeps!

Wonderful Honeybee

Hey hey, y'all!  I thought I would be working today but instead I have an unexpected day off.  My plans for the day include watching the latest episode of NCIS while I stitch, and then heading upstairs to work in my craft room.  And of course laundry ;)

But first, here's one of the cards I made on Monday!

This is the maiden voyage for the Honeybee Home suite at my house, what do you think?  This is another card that I had to take 4-5 pictures before I got a semi-good one.  You can't tell but I veeeeery lightly colored the bee's wings with Pool Party and added some Wink of Stella on top.

This is a triple challenge card, starting with The Card Concept:

While I do like the inspiration pic, I decided to only use the colors for my card today:  Garden Green, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight, and Early Espresso.  My card is in the clean & layered style, which I think is my home base :)  I paired that with the sketch from Sunday Stamps:

And last up is the Festive Friday challenge:

From the list, I used flowers/plants, green, and bugs/insects.  Would "stay wonderful" count as an encouragement?

Okay, I'm going to go get started on all my crafty things :) I plan to enjoy my unexpected day off.  Hope you have a great day too!
