Friday Flashback: True Friend

Happy Friday, peeps.  For this week's Friday Flashback, our retired stamp set is True Friend which came out in the 2007 holiday mini catalog so this one's quite the oldie.  Grab your cuppa tea and let's Flashback!

Also features Hugs & Wishes
Starting off with a cute and simple set of cards that you could do in any color.  I like 'em.  (Mom, something like this might be good for your Christmas card project...)

Also features Priceless, Polka Dot
A fun and bright birthday card...

Also features Happy Everything & Boho Friend Wheel

And one more for good measure.  Can ya tell I like that big flower.

And here's a few of the other stamps in the set.  I do like the "true friend" sentiment but I haven't used it much.

Also features Wonderful Favorites, Flannel Plaid, Itty Bitty Backgrounds

Not my favorite card, it was for a combination SCS sketch and color challenge and this sketch just didn't do anything for me.

Also features Paisley, Warm Words

And the last card of the Flashback has lots o' layers.  I miss the ticket corner punch.

So for today's new project, I bring you a scrapbook layout:

Yay me getting more pages done.  This is the first layout I've made with pictures from this year; these were taken last spring in Alabama.  I wish I'd gotten the spacing a bit better on the stamped part of the title, and really the purple letters show up better IRL than they do in the picture (it was very overcast and kinda dark when I took the photo).  I do love the color combination I used:

Kiwi Kiss, Rose Red, Pink Pirouette, and Lavender Lace.  This layout came together pretty fast once I'd picked the patterned papers I wanted to use.

And that's all she wrote this week, peeps.  Have a great weekend!

Supplies, Spring layout only:
Stamps:  True Friend, Sweet Shoppe Alphabet
Ink:  Rose Red, Chocolate Chip marker
Paper:  Kiwi Kiss, Pink Pirouette, Lavender Lace, Bali Breeze DSP, Pink Pirouette DSP
Accessories:  non-SU lettering template

Friday Night Live

Well, it's scrappy Monday time again!  I really need to get on the ball making some new scrapbook pages; I'm running through all the ones I made before we left Alabama.  Well, I still have lots of baby book pages I haven't shared, but I like to share actual personal scrapbook pages (with pictures) on Mondays.  So anyway, here's what we have today....

These pics are from when we lived in Japan.  When my boss left for a new job, we had a really big hoopydoo party that was Saturday Night Live themed, so that's what these pictures are from.

I seriously love that patterned paper with the multicolored squares and I think this is the first time I've used it because I'm hoarding it.  Anyway, I embossed the accents with white EP because my Whisper White ink just wasn't showing up well enough on its own (you can see the polka dots on the Old Olive layer that are just the ink).

And there's my color palette:  Tempting Turquoise, Cool Caribbean, Old Olive, Basic Black, Regal Rose, and Pretty in Pink.  I like it :)

Hope you have a great day, peeps.  I'm off to make a to-do list so I can formulate a plan of attack!

Supplies, all SU!
Stamps:  Itty Bitty Backgrounds, Circle Circus
Ink:  Whisper White, Basic Black
Paper:  Tempting Turquoise, Old Olive, Regal Rose, Basic Black, Cool Caribbean, Georgia Peach DSP
Accessories:  1 3/8" circle punch, white EP

Friday Flashback: Ancient Asia

It's time for the Friday Flashback!  If you've been here for a while (or if you've perused my other blog), you know that I used to live in Japan and I love stamps with an Oriental flair.  Today's Friday Flashback is for the superfantastic Ancient Asia!

Also features Bamboo II and Happy Birthday Frame
I sent this to my dad for his birthday a few years ago.  I still miss the retired blue colors like Ballet Blue and Brocade Blue.

Also features Bamboo II, Natural Beauty, and Itty Bitty Backgrounds
I made this card before I ever knew there was a band called Imagine Dragons :)

Also features Sanded and Birthday Whimsy
And there's the other dragon in the set.

Also features Whimsical Alphabet
The first layout in my Okinawa scrapbook--I used the tiny dragon in a line across the top of the pages.  So that was the Flashback part, and because I've been having SUCH a good time in my craft room this week I have two new cards to share!

My friend Misty recently had a wedding anniversary, and when she got married I made her a wedding sampler with Chinese characters on it so I was thinking of her when I made this card.  I used the colors from the Color Throwdown:

Such a pretty photo on there, I want to go wherever that was taken.  And you might recognize this week's Nacho sketch too:

But I didn't stop there, I made one more card today:

Kind of different for me, it's all neutrals (and you know I like color, and lots of it).  That Whisper White layer is actually sponged with Sahara Sand and Basic Gray ink, but the flash kinda whited that out.  I used this week's Mojo Monday sketch on this one:

So there you have it!  I've got some pictures picked out for a scrapbook layout to work on next week, and I think Ancient Asia will be making another appearance in my scrapbooks.  Hope y'all have a great weekend, and cheers, peeps!

Supplies, dragon anniversary card:
Stamps:  Ancient Asia, Best of Love, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black, Riding Hood Red
Paper:  Basic Black, Riding Hood Red, Whisper White, Night & Day DSP (I used up a scrap!)
Accessories:  Riding Hood Red taffeta

Supplies, horse card:
Stamps:  Ancient Asia, Weathered
Ink:  Sahara Sand, Basic Gray, Whisper White
Paper:  Sahara Sand, Basic Gray, Whisper White, Sahara Sand DSP
Accessories:  Whisper White baker's twine, Neutrals Candy Dots, Dimensionals

Friday Flashback: Eastern Blooms

Wow, today is already the last Friday in April.  Time is just speeding by and it's time for another Friday Flashback!  Today's featured stamp set is one of my favorites (ok, I have a lot of favorites), Eastern Blooms.  So let's go!

Also features Best Yet and Bella Toile
Let's start off with a baby card.  Hey, baby cards don't always have to have baby-specific images, right?

Also also features Best Yet :)
And here's another one for good measure, this time in purple because not all baby girls (or their mamas) love pink.

Also features Thank You Kindly
And now for something very bright!  I love these flowers with bold colors.

Also features Bring on the Cake
And maybe a lot of rhinestones.

Also features Full of Life, Sprinkles, and Itty Bitty Backgrounds
I think this one would have been better had I moved down the three flowers just a tiny bit more toward the middle of the card.

And last up, here's a scrapbook layout from our time in Japan.  So yep, I've used Eastern Blooms quite a bit I think.  So here's today's brand new card:

Again with the bright colors, they were this week's Splitcoast color challenge.  The sentiment is from Happy Day, which is on the retirement list.  I'm a little sad about that one actually; I think it's a great little stamp set.  Oh well, it will always have a permanent place in my stamp collection!

The layout is courtesy of Retro Sketches:

When I copied down the sketch I didn't make the top panel scooch over to the right like on the original sketch, so my card is a little bit different.  But hey, I got the banner and the button right!

That's it for me this week.  Have a great weekend and cheers, peeps!

Supplies, last card only:
Stamps:  Eastern Blooms, Happy Day
Ink:  Pacific Point, Pumpkin Pie, Real Red
Paper:  Pacific Point, Whisper White, retired Pumpkin Pie DSP, Ski Slope DSP (I think?  It was in my scrap box)
Accessories:  Banner punch, retired Playground button, Whisper White baker's twine

Friday Flashback: Natural Beauty

Time for another Friday Flashback!  This week's featured stamp set is Natural Beauty, and it is a beauty.  It was fun for me to play with this set again : )  So let's take a look back in the archives:

My first two Flashback cards were inspired by some yellow freckled orchids I had when we lived in Okinawa.  The above card also features Floral (background), Full of Life (sentiment), and Itty Bitty Backgrounds (freckles on the flower).

This one is mostly the same as above, but trade out the Full of Life sentiment for one from All Holidays.

Here's something a little different; only the sentiment on this one is from Natural Beauty.  The stamp is kind of a word cloud thing so I just inked up the "Imagine" bit that I wanted.  The dragons are from Ancient Asia, and I also used Bamboo II and Itty Bitty Backgrounds (again).

This one is more CAS; the sentiment is from that perennial favorite, Sincere Salutations.  So that's it for the Flashback part, let's check out the brand new creation:

I used this week's SCS sketch and an old color challenge (I have about 20 sketches and 15 color combos to go to complete my challenge to myself to complete them all).  The flower image was stamped with Chocolate Chip craft ink (sadly retired) and embossed with clear EP before I colored the image using both a blender pen (need some new ones) and an Aquapainter.  The card is pretty straightforward, the only thing that took some time was coloring the image.

Thanks for joining me for this week's Friday Flashback, and have a great weekend!

Supplies, last card only:
Stamps:  Natural Beauty, Warmest Regards
Ink:  Chocolate Chip (craft and classic), Crumb Cake, Barely Banana, Real Red, Mellow Moss
Paper:  Barely Banana, Chocolate Chip, Very Vanilla, retired Real Red & Mellow Moss DSP
Accessories:  clear EP, Dimensionals
