Spotlight on CAS

Mornin' y'all!  I had to go grocery shopping after I dropped Ryan off at school and I can report that the apple pie à la mode Oreos are actually okay.  I usually try to avoid buying Oreos because I have zero self control when it comes to cookies, but sometimes I just have to try the limited edition flavors.  I'm keeping an eye out for the pumpkin spice Oreos.

Anyway, I wasn't real sure what to work on yesterday (lacking focus) but I finally came up with this:

I used last week's Color Throwdown colors:

Which I interpreted as Melon Mambo, Petal Pink, and Garden Green, but of course there aren't any Blends for Garden Green so I used the lighter Shaded Spruce Blend for my leaves and stems.  I got the layout from AAA Cards Challenge:

My oval and image ended up being larger than what's on the sketch, so I changed the sentiment I had planned to use so I'd have more white space.  I did add some Rainbow Dots because it just felt unfinished until I did that.

Anyway, I got a few new things yesterday (okay, five packs of DSP...clearly I need an intervention when it comes to paper hoarding) so I hope that I'll be a bit more focused today on what to make.  It's always fun to play with new stuff, right?  And this order is a lot more interesting than the last one that was just white cardstock, envelopes, and Dimensionals.  Ha!

Have a great Tuesday, y'all.  Cheers!

Floral Friend

Happy Sunday, y'all!  I'm about to start mixing up a batch of waffles for brekkie, we have strawberries in the fridge : )  I got to pick breakfast today, ha!

Here's my card for today:

I missed the deadline on the last Festive Friday challenge (and really that card was not my favorite anyway) so this time I'm making sure I get my card in well in advance of the deadline.  Here's the new challenge:

I have sparkle (the dots and a lot of Wink of Stella on the flowers, which of course doesn't show up and I just tried to type DOGS instead of dots), heat embossing, friend sentiment, and florals.  And I have Baylor colors thanks to the Color Hues challenge:

I decided to reach for some long-retired In Colors for my card, so I used Pineapple Punch and Call Me Clover.  I started out with Shy Shamrock and then I compared it to Call Me Clover and those two greens are VERY similar.  I think Pineapple Punch is the happiest yellow we've ever had and I love both the greens so I had fun making this card.

Okay, time to make waffles.  Cheers, y'all!

Leftovers

Mornin' y'all and happy 4th of July!  Stay safe out there.

I have a couple of cards to share today that use leftovers from other projects.

The lemon paper was die cut for this card, where I used the blue and white side and the negative die shape, but the die cut lemons on this side were perfect for the Inspire. Create. challenge:

I decided on a thank you card because a.) I haven't made very many of those lately and b.) that's the Addicted to CAS challenge:

Then I just played with the lemon die cut and my die cut sentiment until I found something I liked.  I even added some clear gems for a very subtle embellishment.

And here's my second leftovers card:

I was working on another card and ended up with that floral scrap (again, on the other card I used the opposite side of the paper) and I just really liked how it happened to be framed on the two flowers.  Once more I die cut a simple thanks sentiment and this time I added a larger piece of patterned paper because it felt right.  A few Strawberry Slush gems and now I have another thank you card for my stash.

Daphne says it's time for her daily walk and I can't say no to that adorable face.  Might make some blueberry pie bars later today if I decide to go to the store...I thought I had everything to make them but I'm out of Greek yogurt.  We're going to grill burgers for dinner : )  Have a good holiday, y'all!  (Or, y'know, a good Friday if it's not a holiday for you.)  Cheers!

Serene Thoughts

Mornin' y'all.  I spent the last couple of days getting the house all nice and clean and now...I think I'm getting another cold.  Ugh.  After I write this up I've got to go to the store to get more DayQuil.

Anyway, my mom had a surgical procedure on Wednesday so I made a sweet, simple card to send her.

I love the mood board at Hand-Stamped Sentiments:

I chose Misty Moonlight and Petal Pink for my colors, with a bit of retired Seaside Spray for the leaves, and here's the Freshly Made Sketch I followed:

I just sponged some Petal Pink ink over the top of my flower image, easy peasy.  A couple of embellishments that I think are actually Boho Blue but they went well with the rest of the card.  I just realized this card is the first one I've made with Spotlight on Nature.  I've used the dies a few times but the last time I went to make a card with the stamps, I ended up scrapping it and doing something different.  So yay, the stamps finally got inked!  One of them, anyway.

Okay, I'm off to the store.  Cheers, and stay healthy, y'all!
