Turtle Power

Mornin' y'all!  I'm currently brewing my second XL cuppa tea this morning so it's shaping up to be a good day : )  And I have a triple challenge card to share:

Actually this card base started out to be used for my Tranquil Tiger card, but I decided that the DSP strip was too wide after I had already glued it down so I made a whole 'nother card base.  It was still too wide for this card too, so I chopped an inch off the bottom of the card base and then glued on a scrap of Crumb Cake et voilĂ :  a narrower strip of DSP, and I still have that other piece for some other card on down the line.

So let's talk challenges!  Starting with the Paper Players:

Next up is the Inspire. Create. challenge:

And then the AAA Cards Challenge:

This one solidified my choice to make a turtle card, which I already had on the brain after seeing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in the theater last weekend.  When I got up this morning, my husband asked if I slept well and I told him that I had a dream that we hatched eggs which turned out to be like armored turtles (like a cross between a turtle and an ankylosaur) and they were carnivorous and FAST so I was worried that they were going to eat Daphne.  He said I have weird dreams (true), and then I told him that there were four ankylosaurus turtle babies in my dream, so clearly that was related to TMNT.  But yeah, that dream was extra weird even by my standards.  The hubs once had a dream that I turned into a dragon and he had to fight me with a sword, so he's one to talk.  Hope I won that dream fight.

Anyway, that's it for now, peeps.  Have a great day!

Don't Stop Me Now

Mornin' y'all, how's your Thursday so far?  The high temperature today is 17 degrees lower than it was yesterday so I'm going to be making a cuppa tea here soon : )

And here is today's card:

This week's Freshly Made Sketch:

And the Color Throwdown:

Those two challenges together made me think of a stoplight, and then it combined in my brain with the challenge from Cupcake Inspirations:

I was searching through all my birthday greetings when I came across the belated birthday from Turtle Friends and thought it went perfectly with the stoplight!  What do you think?

I'm off to do drop Ryan at school and then do grocery shopping.  Cheers!

Turtle Power

Hey y'all!  Happy Friday and happy birthday to my mom!  I stayed up way too late last night making a card because I finally got NEW STUFF and I just couldn't wait any more to bust it open and make something.  Seriously, my new catty order took TWENTY-SEVEN DAYS to get here after it shipped from SU!  Felt like forever, and then the box arrived covered in some kind of stinky lotion or something.  Lucky for me that almost everything in the box was wrapped in plastic or else cleanable.

Anyway, new stamps!!

I am an absolute sucker for animal stamp sets!  I've bought several retired ones lately like Yukon, Cold Weather Friends, Wolf, and Wilderness Reserve, and I got Turtle Friends and the new big cats stamp set on my first order from the new catalog.  I had to use this turtle for the Color Throwdown:

I used Gorgeous Grape, Bermuda Bay, and Granny Apple Green for my colors, love this combination!  And here is this week's Freshly Made Sketch:

I made my card the standard A2 size because I just don't like making square cards, which I realize makes me strange but I don't care.  I used another new stamp set, Watercolor Shapes, for the square behind my turtle.  That stamp set doesn't look like anything special but I think I'll be using it on the regular for things like this--it's standing in for a layer on the sketch.  Fun, right?

Anyway, I'd better get my workout done and get ready for the day.  Hope you have a great holiday weekend, peeps, and stay safe!
