Bear Book: June

Well, yesterday's Friday Flashback didn't happen....I went downstairs to work on something, and then couldn't find something in my craft room and got distracted trying to clean out things and organize and then I got a little frustrated so I went back upstairs without actually making anything.  But I do have a bear book layout today!

Nice and summery when we're having Polar Vortex Weekend.

Uh, so I need more summery stamps...the only reason I did a yellow background behind this ice cream-lovin' bear was because I used a little sun stamp on the left-hand page.  Because I don't have any ice cream stamps.

See, I couldn't have just ONE spot of yellow.

But I do have several cherry stamps.

Today's color palette:  Calypso Coral, Lucky Limeade, Pool Party, Daffodil Delight, and Whisper White.  Now I'm going to go finish organizing that craft room so I can get back to the fun part!  Wish me luck.

Supplies:
Stamps:  Haagen-Dazs Bear from Whipper Snapper, Fruit & Flowers, Hello
Ink:  Basic Black, Calypso Coral, Lucky Limeade, Daffodil Delight
Paper:  Calypso Coral, Lucky Limeade, Pool Party, Sweet Shoppe DSP
Accessories:  Ovals & Lots of Labels Framelits, circle & scalloped circle punch, Sizzix alphabet, Prismacolor Pencils

Friday Flashback: One Smart Cookie

Happy Friday, peeps!  This weeks stamp set du jour is a cute little set called One Smart Cookie, which has teeny tiny little images and punny phrases to go with.  So let's flash back!

Also features Tart & Tangy
Here you see what I mean about the punny phrases.

Also features Fruit & Flowers
I admit:  I bought One Smart Cookie for the wee apple, which I used on baby books (look in the corner of the journaling square).

Also features Perfectly Preserved
So the larger apple images might have changed a little bit...

Also features Tart & Tangy
But that tiny apple stayed the same.

Also features Tart & Tangy
I'm very proud to say that the baby books I'm close to finishing right now have September pages that are completely different, with nary an apple in sight.  But I didn't want One Smart Cookie to feel left out, so I made a couple of cards for today's Friday Flashback.

How do you like them oranges?  All of the stamps in One Smart Cookie are tiny, so I was a little worried about what I was going to do until I saw the sketch at Create with Connie and Mary:

I thought it worked out so well on the orange card that I made another one:

I used my Color Coach (why did this retire again?!) to come up with the color combo on here--Soft Sky, Rich Razzleberry, and Old Olive.  This card will go to my hubs' cousin, who had us over for dinner last week.  That means that this also qualifies for The Male Room challenge to use fruit:

Actually I think the orange card will go to a little boy, so they both count (Mom, I will put that card in a pile for you to send to your little penpal).  So that's it for me this week, peeps.  The hubs is off work today so I think we're going to drive out to Monticello, but I need to go get cleaned up first.  Cheers!

Olivia's Baby Book

Not too long after I started stamping, I got the idea to make baby books for a couple of friends of mine for their baby showers.  Since then, I've done ten, and I've got one more that's 80% finished (I just need to find out if the baby's a boy or a girl).  I do one layout for each month of the year, plus layouts for the baby's birth and first birthday.  Add in the first and last pages, and each book is 30 pages.  They take me at least a couple of months to do, so I don't do them for very many people.  And I won't sell them either, because honestly, no one would pay what I would want to charge for them given how much time they take, never mind the cost of supplies.

So here's the one I just finished up for my SIL and her new daughter, Olivia.  If you want a complete supply list, check out my SCS gallery here.  Jill is doing the nursery in what my mom calls Strawberry Shortcake colors--pink, hot pink, and lime green, so that's what I started with.  The die cut alphabet I used is by Sizzix and I've had it since I graduated from college and it's long retired :)  Click on any of the pictures to see it bigger.
