Starting Anew

Mornin', y'all!  We had a good time for Ryan's birthday yesterday.  He was SUPER excited that I got him balloons :) and he had opening his presents, though I'm pretty sure he thinks I got him too many books (no such thing as too many books, if you ask me).  Anyway, I'm back with the other card I made for the Paper Players color challenge:

And here it is:

It's that same Butterfly Bijou DSP as my other card, but this one just didn't feel...awesome enough for a Paper Players card?  I don't know, it just feels a bit lacking to me.  I do like that sentiment paired with butterflies but *shrug*  That's why I made the mermaid card!

Okay, I've got to get ready for work.  Cheers, y'all!

Supplies, all SU!
Stamps:  Flowering Tulips, Confetti
Ink:  Mint Macaron, Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper:  So Saffron, Bermuda Bay, Mint Macaron, Thick Basic White, Butterfly Bijou DSP Stack
Accessories:  Tasteful Labels dies, Dimensionals

And Now a Baby Ewok

Hey hey hey it's Friday!  Hope your week is going well.

I said yesterday that I needed two baby shower cards this week, so here is the second one:

Oooh non-SU stamp on this one! I'm going to a baby shower tomorrow for a gal who loves Star Wars about as much as I do.  I got this Ewok stamp set to use in my future nephew's baby book and of course I had to use it for this card too :)  I used the same congratulations stamp as yesterday because it was already out on my table so that was convenient.

Here's the Global Design Project sketch I used:

And the color palette from Color Throwdown:

I used Crumb Cake for the card base, Soft Suede for the Ewok, and Old Olive for my green.  I pulled out some retired epoxy dots for a touch of gold in the upper left corner to help balance out the Ewok and sentiment on the right.  Very quick card, but since I'm a naptime crafter, I have to be fast!

Hope you have a great Friday, y'all.  Cheers!

Supplies:

Stamps:  First Frost, Confetti, Furball stamp set from The Ink Road
Ink:  Soft Suede, Old Olive, Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper:  Crumb Cake, Old Olive, Thick Whisper White
Accessories:  gold epoxy drops, Dimensionals

Friday Flashback: Baby Tees

Happy Friday, y'all!  I've got a busy day going here because I have a LOT to do before we leave for Texas tomorrow afternoon.  Wheee!  So let's get to the Friday Flashback, shall we?  This week's stamp set is Baby Tees, which was actually a jumbo wheel but I cut mine apart and made it into five stamps and I love it that way.  Okay, cards!

Also features Cuddles & Kisses

It seems like most of my friends for the last several years have had boys, so a LOT of these cards are boy cards.  Out of the last five baby books I made, four were for boys (and you know who got the girl one).  Anyway, I think I made a mask and sponged the color on the onesie for this card which I thought looked pretty cute.

Also features A Word For You

Watercolor Wonder Crayons for coloring on this one.

Also features Curly Cute

Oh look, girl cards!  I made the one on the right because I'd seen a purple and orange baby quilt that I really liked (more grape purple rather than reddish purple like Rich Razzleberry, but I have to work with the ink colors I have).  Might be interesting to try that kind of card with Peekaboo Peach and Sweet Sugarplum, hmm.

Also features Sweet Essentials and Confetti

The sentiment should be a little darker on this one but otherwise I think it's cute.

Also features Cuddles & Kisses

And from the name of the photo on this one, I made it after Duchess Kate gave birth to lil Prince George :)

Also features Alphabet Rotary

Okay, one last card from the archives, and here is today's new creation:

It's...another boy card!  But I'll get to why in a minute.  First up I used this week's Freshly Made Sketch:

Cutting out all the pieces for the card and stamping the images and sentiment took like five minutes, and then it took me an hour to color in all the onesies (I used a blender pen and squished ink pad lids).  And it's more boy because it just happens that I liked the Color Throwdown this week and it's more boyish:

I used Wild Wasabi, Daffodil Delight, and the retired Coastal Cabana for my colors, plus some Basic Black and a wee bit of Soft Suede for the hangers.

Okay, off to work on my to-do list.  Cheers, y'all!

Supplies, last card only:
Stamps:  Baby Tees, Made with Love, Hearts a Flutter
Ink:  Basic Black, Coastal Cabana, Daffodil Delight, Wild Wasabi, Soft Suede
Paper:  Coastal Cabana, Daffodil Delight, Thick Whisper White, Wild Wasabi DSP
Accessories:  Dimensionals

Friday Flashback: Star-Spangled Banner

Happy Friday, y'all!  I hope you're staying cooler than we are...the AC in our house went out.  The pipes on the AC unit have been freezing over and then it doesn't actually cool the house down at all, so someone is coming to check it out in about an hour and a half.  I might be a paper-crafting puddle by then.  But anyway, let's get to today's Friday Flashback, which is Star-Spangled Banner!  Very appropriate this time of year, no?

Also features Stars & Swirls

This, my friends, is a layout from the very first baby book I ever made in 2005.

Also features Confetti

And this is from probably the third one I ever made, in 2009.  The three stamps on the left on this one are from today's retired stamp set, and here is my brand-new creation:

Both of my parents and my SIL have July birthdays (Mom and SIL are both within two days of July fourth) so they all love stars and stripes stuff.  Well, I was born in January and I love stars and stripes stuff too, but I figured a star-spangled birthday card was just the ticket.  And it goes along with the theme for the Paper Players' 300th challenge:

I also used the Pals Paper Arts sketch:

And the Retro Rubber color challenge:

Okay, so mine is red, white, and blues since I used both Dapper Denim and a teensy bit of Soft Sky :)  To authenticate my stamps' retro-ness, I've had Star-Spangled banner since 2005 (when I started stamping!) and I'm pretty sure I've had Teeny Tiny Wishes since it came out in 2009, so my stamps are 11 and 7 years old respectively.  Yep, definitely retro in the stamp world.

I'm going to go do nothing until the AC dude comes to save me.  It's too hot in the house to do anything else :p  Cheers, y'all!

Supplies, last card only:
Stamps:  Star-Spangled Banner, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Ink:  Real Red, Dapper Denim
Paper:  Dapper Denim, Thick Whisper White, Soft Sky
Accessories:  Dimensionals

Friday Flashback: Fintastic

Happy Friday, everyone!  Today's Friday Flashback is for the cute little set Fintastic.

Aaaand there you go, that's all of the Flashback.  I got this set after it retired and was happy to use it on my friend Sarah's baby book for her daughter, but that's the only time I've used it.  Until now!

I resisted the urge to color her in like Ariel :)  Side note:  have you ever noticed that Ariel is the only one of Triton's daughters whose shell bra doesn't match the color of her tail?  True story.

I thought this week's colors from ColourQ would be perfect for an underwater scene:

I did think about using the Tangerine Tango for her hair (like Ariel), but then I decided to make my mermaid a brunette.  I stamped the image with Versamark and Midnight Muse, then embossed with clear EP so that I could watercolor without the ink smudging.

I also used this week's Mojo Monday sketch:

I like sketches with tilty layers.  Maybe because I always seem to take pictures crooked :)

Cheers, y'all!

Supplies, last card only:
Stamps:  Fintastic, Stippled Shells
Ink:  Versamark, Midnight Muse, Tangerine Tango, Melon Mambo, Coastal Cabana, Early Espresso, Sahara Sand, Soft Suede, Skintone Blendabilities
Paper:  Coastal Cabana, Midnight Muse, Tangerine Tango, Thick Whisper White, Tangerine Tango DSP
Accessories:  Circle punches, Dimensionals, Clear EP

Friday Flashback: Confetti

Man, I was doing really good this week with having posts written and scheduled the day before they were to go up, but I think I'm coming down with something right now :(  So I made my card yesterday but didn't get the post done.  Anyway, welcome to this week's Friday Flashback, which features the background stamp set Confetti!

Also features Baby Tees, Sweet Essentials
There are six stamps in the Confetti stamp set, and I love that little alphabet one for baby cards.  I don't know why I think that baby stuff should have the alphabet on it?  But I do.  Hey, I like the layout on this card, I should use that again.

Also features Fintastic
If you click on that pic to see it bigger, you'll see the little polka dot bubbles on the background paper on this one.  I think that's about the only time I used Fintastic, but I was super excited to get it and I'm sure I'll use it again somewhere else.

Also features Baby Bundle
One last baby card for the Flashback part, I'm not sure how all my projects with Confetti ended up being baby-centric, but as it turns out my new card is also baby-riffic as well!

I did try to let Confetti be the star of the show on this one, with the polka dots on the Pistachio Pudding piece and the heart background underneath.  I used the sweetheart punch to cut a heart out of the Pistachio layer so you see the card base through it.  The "baby" is from All-Year Cheer II and I just hand-wrote "hey" next to it.  Seems like everyone I know is having boys right now, but sooner or later the pendulum will spring back and someone will have a girl and I'll have this card all ready and waiting.

I used the color combo from Colour Me...!

And the awesome sketch from Freshly Made Sketches, super easy to work with this week:

So there's your Friday Flashback for this week!  Hope you have a great weekend, peeps.  Cheers!

Supplies, last card only:
Stamps:  Confetti, All-Year Cheer II
Ink:  Blushing Bride, Pistachio Pudding, Rose Red
Paper:  Blushing Bride, Pistachio Pudding, Whisper White
Accessories:  Sizzlits labels (I think they're retired), Sweetheart punch, Dimensionals

Friday Flashback: Baby Bundle

Welcome to another Friday Flashback!  This week's featured retired stamp set is Baby Bundle, so of course today's Flashback will be heavy on the baby projects :)  Ready, set, Flashback!

Another layout from baby books gone by, this one for my friend Sarah whose daughter was born on Halloween, hence the pumpkins in the upper right (which is from the set Give Thanks).

Sometimes I get asked to make a keepsake baby shower invitation for a mommy-to-be since people nowadays seem to do online invites instead.  The sentiment is from Warm Words.

This gonzo sketch was most definitely not my idea, it was for a Dare to Get Dirty challenge a couple years ago.  I think the pink and orange looked better IRL...the words are from Nursery Necessities.

Another keepsake baby shower invite, also using Paisley for the background.

Well, that Flashback was really, really pink.  So here's a change of pace!

This card was in the mail and on its way to its destination about two hours after I made it, which is probably a record for me.  I thought Tempting Turquoise might be gender-neutral, though maybe it could be construed as "boy"...these parents don't know the baby's sex yet but I can't seem to do gender-neutral baby cards.  Partially because I was using another old SCS color challenge.

So there you have it, thanks for joining me on today's Friday Flashback.  Have a great weekend!

Supplies, last card only:
Stamps:  Baby Bundle, Confetti
Ink:  Going Gray, Basic Gray, Tempting Turquoise
Paper:  Whisper White, Tempting Turquoise, retired Tempting Turquoise DSP
