Wengen

Scrappy Monday, y'all!  The hubs did NOT sleep last night so that means I didn't get much rest either, so that means I'll have to drink lots of tea today.  The high today is in the 60s here so that's tea weather as far as I'm concerned : )  Ryan has soccer practice this afternoon so I'll be taking a traveling mug with me for that.

Looks like it's going to be a beautiful day here in Colorado and for today's scrapbook layout I have a beautiful day in Switzerland!

This is finally the last of my Swiss-Capade pages as the picture on the bottom right is Ryan pulling a face on the train ride back to Germany.  The last thing we did on our last evening in Switzerland was take the train partway up a mountain to Wengen, which is an adorable little mountain town.  You can buy a wooden ball in town and then they have a bunch of Rube Goldberg machines all around to play with the ball, Ryan loved that.  I used gnomes as my page accents because why not?

Today's color palette:  So Saffron, Granny Apple Green, Starry Sky (love this color), Evening Evergreen, and Whisper White.

Time to go wake Ryan up to get ready for school...and then I'll be brewing my first cuppa : )  Cheers!

Spring Gnome

Mornin' y'all!  Well, I get to have a relaxing day to myself--after Ryan and I had our monthly ice cream date yesterday (we have now completed 8 months of the hubs' 12-month deployment, woo!), I dropped him off to spend the weekend with his grandparents and then I went to the used book store because I know how to party.  So I slept in this morning and then worked a little more on the house-hunting thing, and I plan to spend the rest of the day working on some projects in my craft room.  And I'm going to enjoy it : )

Anyway, I do have a card to share today, take a look:

I brought back last year's Friendly Gnomes for this card and this is only the second time I've used the stamp set, oops.  Anyway, I had to do retro for the Retro Rubber Challenge:

I zeroed in on the "gnomes" space right away, so I went down the right side with patterned paper, a gnome, and floral--the flowers and stripes are actually one piece of patterned paper, just the two different sides.  Friendly Gnomes, as I mentioned, is a year old. I used this week's Freshly Made Sketch:

And of course this week's Color Throwdown:

I went with three retired colors:  Merry Merlot, Rococo Rose, and Succulent Sage.  I like these colors together, might have to give them another go.

Anyway, I'm off to work on my wedding album.  I finished putting together all the pages with the pictures taken by the professional photographer; I think I'm going to add a bit of minimal journaling on a few pages and then I can put them in an album and it's done.  I do have a lot of pictures that we took on our own cameras, so those will be going into a separate album and will be my next project.  At least I'm finally making progress!

Cheers, y'all!  Enjoy your weekend.

Making a CASE with SUO Challenges

Hey y'all, happy Valentine's Day!  And welcome to a new challenge from SUO Challenges!

This time around, we're inviting you to bust out your Stampin' Up! supplies and CASE something on page 5 of the Sale-a-Bration catalog:

I chose that card on the right that has all the horizontal strips, and here's what I came up with:

I kept to lighter colors and a spring theme, but changed up the strips for some offset rectangles and finally inked up one of the Friendly Gnomes.  My picture looks a bit fluorescent but that's just how Parakeet Party was working for me today.  Actually this was the second version of this card, I tried it on white first:

I just thought he needed some spring green in there : )

Your turn!  I hope you'll join in the challenge on the SUO Challenges blog.  Have fun!
