Festive Owl

Another quick card to share today, because I'm still having fun playing with a few of the new colors, and a retired Sale-a-Bration set just because these owls really ARE adorable, check it out:

I started off with the latest challenge from Festive Friday:

From the list, I used yellow, black (the owl is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black), happy sentiment, and enamel dots.  The dots are Bumblebee but seemed to coordinate okay with the Lemon Lolly elements on my card.  I paired that with this sketch from Try Stampin' on Tuesday:

For the background layers, I went really simple and just tore the edges on a scrap of DSP, then layered it on a cardstock mat.

Guest Designer: Retro Rubber

Surprise double post!  I'm a guest designer this week for Retro Rubber Challenges.  This time it's a tic-tac-toe challenge!

How's that for a fun board?  I kinda went bananas and hit all of the squares except for ribbon/twine and slimline, so here's my card:

I've had Amazing Silhouettes (the butterfly stamp is part of it) for over a year but I've only used it once before now (oops).  But that large sentiment square on the tic-tac-toe board made me think of the coordinating Amazing Thanks dies, which was the start of my card.  So I've got die cuts for the large sentiment, lots of layers, stars, three different patterned papers, and some squares on there.  Not to mention polka dots and chevrons and lots of Fresh Freesia.  And today is the last day to snag that amazing Dandy Designs DSP stack, so hop to it if you haven't already :)

Happy Bird-Day

 ...to ME.  Yep, it's my birthday today!  Since it's Tuesday, we're having tacos for dinner (it's the LAW according to Ryan) and the hubs invited my friend Krissy and her husband to join us for dinner tonight.  The unfortunate side effect of that is that I had to clean up the house a bit this morning, but it didn't take that long and it needed to be done anyway, *and* now that it's done I can go spend the next several hours in my craft room with a clear conscience.  After I finish my two cups of tea.

So, here's today's bird-day card:

I had to use Adorable Owls for my card today, it's just too cute.  I hunted through all my new DSP (seriously, I have a ton of paper and I just got a half-dozen new packs from the Occasions and SAB catalogs) and I just liked that floral pattern from Flowers & More, so I started with that and colored my owl a whimsical Fresh Freesia because I could.  I've been using Fresh Freesia a bit lately, I will definitely miss it when it retires this summer.

I plan to sit here and surf a few blogs while I finish my teas, and then I'm heading up to my craft room to play until the alarm goes off to get Ryan off the bus.  It's gonna be a great day!

Well, Owl Be

Hey y'all, this is going to be the fastest post ever because I have three minutes until my alarm goes off to go to work :)  I had *just* enough time to squeeze in a card this morning after I got Ryan on the school bus, take a look:

Ahhhh she's so cute!  I used this week's Freshly Made Sketch:

And the Color Throwdown:

I used Basic Black, Gray Granite, Magenta Madness, and Whisper White for the colors.  Mixing a bit of old and new here, the stamps are brand new for Sale-a-Bration, and of course Magenta Madness retired a bit ago.  The sentiment is embossed with Lovely Lipstick embossing powder, which for my purposes today is close enough to magenta.  Then I cut it slightly crooked, so I put it on the card crooked too because why not.  Adds character.
